  • So- this workout pretty much killed me. There was no way I could do it with 30 second "rest" - so rather than decrease weight or reps, I decided to rest a little longer. But I finished it! Came home exhausted, woke up this morning stiff and starving. Hope to be ready for workout 2 tomorrow.
  • Starting stage 7 today
  • Eskimo- Chocolate Almond. Nicaragua has surprisingly good ice cream! The coconut is delicious too!
  • Yep. As I understand it, to the extent that your goal is to lose weight, do cardio (AND WEIGHTS). To the extent that your goal is to maintain or build muscle, focus totally or mostly on weights.
  • This happened to me too. I had almost no abdominal muscle at all and when I started lifting the main muscle soreness I got was in my abs!! I now have a much stronger, firmer core- but it's true that my waist measurement went up a couple of cm. For me it's worth it to have a stronger core - and I still have a small waist.
  • This. I adjusted my goal several times based on how I felt. I am now at my college weight +/- 3 lb for about 2 years, and working with weight training to adjust my body composition. But I feel great and everyone tells me I look fantastic. BMI right at 20.
  • Walking down the street suddenly had my half slip around my ankles. Hehe. Same thing- I knew the waist was a little loose but didn't expect that. Had to start pinning it to my skirt until I got a new one!
  • I totally agree with the above two posts. I think you should either take advantage of the trainer for now, and do whatever routine he/she recommends, and save the book for when you don't have a trainer, or else get the trainer to help you do the routine in the book. I personally did the first for a while, then switched to…

  • I flew 85000 miles last year and am on track to do the same this year. Here are my two tips: take your pillow on the plane, and try to get a window seat on the way over. It;s your best shot of getting some sleep. DON'T even think about drinking alcohol on the plane on the way over. You may think it will help you sleep.…
  • Actually I have thought about it but I have not done it yet. What I have done, though, is focus my goal on measurements rather than on weight. I really don't care what the weight is as long as the measurements head in the right direction. I started doing this because I travel a lot and was forced to live without a scale…
  • Yep- I try to alternate lifting and yoga days. And I love wine too!!
  • Oh- and my butt is going slowly back up to where it is supposed to be  - it was kind of "saggy" for a while there after I lost weight...:blushing:
  • This is TOTALLY my problem as well. I will tell you my experience with a caveat- I am now halfway through stage 6. I have been doing this program exactly by the book in terms of the exercises, EXCEPT I have been out of town a lot so I could not always do it. In terms of the diet, I have kept myself on maintenance calories…
  • Real ice cream is made of milk, cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and whatever flavors you add to it. It's actually pretty much the healthiest "real" dessert you can get.
  • I "save" calories all week so I can enjoy Sunday. It's kind of like my personal version of calorie cycling LOL. Two rules: I can't eat more than I saved, and I can't be over by more than 1000. I usually feel kind of full on Monday but not totally awful- just enough to make me not want to overeat again! I'm on stage 6 and…
  • According to my understanding yes. When I do the lunges, I bring my feet back together on every rep. When I do the split squat, I keep one in front and one in back, do all the squats and then switch. I could be wrong tho,
  • This is awesome. I was raised pretty much like that too. My dad always said "everything in moderation" and I have always tried to keep that in mind. I remember one time we were on vacation and my dad said we could have anything we wanted for breakfast and we challenged him- said we wanted fudge! And he said ok but only on…
  • Hello- maybe she doesn't need to lose weight? Not everyone here is here for the same reason. I'm not trying to lose (any more) weight either! I am with OP- childhood obesity is a serious problem in our country. We need to do something about it. Please give people leave to "rant" if they want to do so! This is the best…
  • Heart surgeon for kids. I love it.
  • Wow yumm. Bookmarking. Not sure where to get that seasoning, though.
  • I have logged every single day since October, 2010 EXCEPT Christmas Day, 2012. Occasionally when I travel I have no internet, so I log offline (and lose my day count).
  • If you are reading the Stage 5 stuff sorry for the double post- this really belongs here but I also posted it there because it looked like there were a lot of people thinking of skipping stage 6. OK so I was really pretty nervous about the whole reverse chin up thing or whatever it is called and I read the instructions…
  • Hi Ladies! I just have to put this here especially for those of you who are thinking of skipping stage 6. OK so I was really pretty nervous about the whole reverse chin up thing or whatever it is called and I read the instructions like 3 or 4 times and I am thinking ok right, grab the bar and hang there until I stop…
  • Yes it seems very long to me. Plus I am eating back my exercise calories which seems like cheating- adding in 90 minutes worth of strength-training calories with all those two minute breaks!! But I'm in weight-maintenance mode and have been maintaining, not gaining- so I left it alone. Oh well. Just finished stage 5…
  • Glad you liked it! I went to some yoga classes at my former gym. I did really poorly at first, especially on the balance part, but I improved. My new gym doesn't have yoga, so I was thinking of trying pilates...
  • I have thought about it. I am not there yet.
