I haven't done that one- but went to a "Yoga Flow" class here for a while that was similar (it sounds) and I loved it. I just logged it as "yoga" and figured it would be a little underestimate of calories burned but that was OK with me. Anyway sounds like something I would like since the Yoga Flow teacher now left. Is it…

I drink a LOT of skim milk- and comparing the nutrition info to the subs people use on here (almond milk, soy, etc) I really don't get it. Yes - it's a gram of protein for every 10 calories- hard to beat, and especially we girls need our calcium!
-
Me too. But it's almost always homemade stuff. And I budget for it.
-
I noticed that too. And they say "the camera adds 10 pounds." Weird.
-
Because I think this picture of my puppy getting weighed is really cute and appropriate for this site.
-
Yes you can. Just track your macros- make sure you get enough protein in particular, and get enough calories in. Also you might want to put in a little snack as the SlimFast people suggest.
-
I'm in. Just signed up. Proud to say I did my first ever push up 7 months ago so...

You and me both!!! I am working with weights, as others have suggested, and it is slowly changing. Many people have benefited from the book "New Rules of Lifting for Women" - you might want to look it up. Also yoga and pilates are great for building strength and muscle without losing too much weight. Google "skinny fat"…

I totally agree. As far as I;m concerned the whole point of MFP is to change my lifestyle. Forget fad diets. Having said that though- I guess for some people a jump start helps them stay motivated. Maybe.

From what I have read, whey. But I am no expert.
-
Haha my mom used to give me that as a snack when I was a kid. And you know what- I still like it! Also carrots go great with a peanut butter sandwich- a much better combo than chips!

Check out the book New Rules of Weightlifting for Women. It has lots of good advice. In general as I understand it lifting "heavy" - or a lot of weight for a few reps, is to build muscle whereas if you do more reps with less weight, you get fat loss and thus "muscle definition" with less bulking. But you will probably have…

Congratulations! I think making up your mind is the hardest thing- and the most important thing!
-
Great thread- thanks for posting! I am just going to "change up" my routine today!
-
I agree with all of the above comments. I think you look GREAT, and you should go with what makes you feel healthy and good about yourself. I have the same problem...
-
Yeah this. I clicked on it to see what it meant LOL.
-
Well- this is hard!! If it were not hard- the whole world would be thin and beautiful! Instead- more than half the population is now overweight. I admire your persistence- the most important thing IMO is making the decision to start over- even if we have to make it every day! Read over what you wrote about your…

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking.

Lift weights. Avoid too much cardio. Maintain your calorie intake close to normal- a little above to focus on gaining muscle, a little below to focus on losing fat. And be patient!

Here's my 2 cents worth. I think it would be great to teach (in public schools) some type of "comparative religion" class- not teaching religion per se, but teaching "about" different religions. That way we could all understand each other better. I am lucky to have friends who are of different religious beliefs - including…

Exactly.

My profile pic is my Remora when she was a baby. Now she's a big girl! Nicaraguan mutt from a farm- don't read while eating but when I first got her she was full of parasites and pooped out worms bigger than she was!

It was my goal for my 50th birthday because i had never ever in my entire life been able to do ONE. I did first the girly knee ones then the ones on an incline as someone else suggested. Finally I made it - do to 3 on my birthday. Now, 7 months later I am doing 4 sets of 7, and still making progress!

I have been on this site for more than 2 years and I thought they were going to put a way to share recipes but to my knowledge it has never happened. However, I often use the "homemade" one instead of a restaurant one if I eat at someone's house because I am guessing it will be closer to accurate. And yep- manufacturers…

Check out Tara Stiles yoga on YouTube. She has lots of 8-10 minute videos you can download free and put together your own workout.
-
Haha I'm downloading them free off YouTube. Now I'm on their email list and they send me suggestions almost every day.

Reread what you wrote - but change the emphasis. I have found personally that the best way to get over the "blues" is to focus on others, not on me. What "I need" is exactly what you said- to be able to lead or help others to be happy. The more we focus on others, the less we think about ourselves- and the less we think…

I try to average out at or below the recommended number of calories on a weekly basis - meaning in practice I try to "save" a few calories on most days so that have some "extra" left for Sunday LOL. And yes I eat my exercise calories back. All of them. I've been on MFP for two years and it works well for me.
-
I'd say active. And yes- thanks for working for Red Cross!!

A lot of people have answered so I'll be brief- but I'm answering anyway because I think you and I have a lot in common. I was a bookworm as a kid, always picked last in gym etc etc, never liked sports except swimming. Later in life wished my parents had been willing to commit the time for me to be on swim team but that's…
