  • <----vampire jogger. This is only a problem Friday & Saturday nights, since my run route takes me through a pretty dense bar/club zone, and I end up having to dodge the drunken people weaving (and vomiting) all over. I consider it an obstacle course ;-)
  • There's really no such thing as "bad" food or "good" food. Food is food. It's your choices that are better or worse. You are still meeting your calorie goal, you stopped yourself from making that choice worse by bingeing & you have made a better choice to add in a bit of exercise. Sounds like you did very good!
  • I don't think I could gain 80-100lbs in 4 months, let alone lose it! Yes, it's very unrealistic. If you get discouraged because you don't see results, you might be missing the point. Instead of defining results as "x amount of pounds lost", define it another way: give yourself a generic fitness test- see how many pushups &…
  • I don't know of any HRMs that work without a chest strap. The watch needs a sensor to pick up your heart rate. Sorry!
  • October 2013 here! Hoping I can shed some weight before my engagement party/photo session which will be THIS October.
  • I'm partial to soda water or sparkling water with lime. I also like those little TRU flavoring packets (like TRU Orange or TRU lemon). They are crystallized real fruit, and don't contain the nasty chemicals that other flavorers have.
  • It happens to me occasionally, especially with high impact stuff like running. I don't know why. It's never bothered me too much to find out.
  • Love them! I like to eat them cold right out of the fridge (it is so HOT right now, and the cold oats really hit the spot.) Plus, I don't have an excuse not to eat breakfast before work-I just grab and go. The night before I put in a jar: 1/2 c quick oats 1 c vanilla coconut milk 1tsp cinnamon 1 banana, chopped. Shake it…
  • Electra townies have a pretty forgiving saddle with lots of suspension. (I have an Electra Betty, and it feels like I'm riding a Cadillac compared to the rest of my bikes, lol). If its a chafing issue, wearing proper bike shorts (which come with a chamois sewn into the crotch area and eliminates seams) under your normal…
  • It's worth the money to get a good pair of cycling shorts. Pear Izumi is my favorite brand. Curious as to why you got gel inserts? A good chamois should be all you need-the gel filled ones can exacerbate saddle issues. Are you experiencing pain in the crotch area? I wash my shorts on a gentle cycle & let them air dry. They…
  • I love riding my bike. I have a fun cruiser bike for cruising around the city, and I have a touring bike for longer distances. I also ride a bike for a living. You'd think all that cycling would = weight loss, right? Not if you keep riding it to the bar/restaurant/coffee shop, ha! I ride more for the mental benefits rather…
  • If you are really worried, get a body analysis done somewhere else-someplace that doesn't have an interest in getting you to believe that you must buy their services. Otherwise, I say trust your own eyes. Sounds like you are making great progress!
  • This is Betty, my cruiser: Betty at the Reflecting Pool by girlonabikedc, on Flickr And this is Kermit, my touring/exploring bike: Kermit by girlonabikedc, on Flickr Ok I give up on fixing the last picture.
  • Order Roti rather than Naan (roti is whole wheat) if you want bread with your meal OR brown rice. Try to avoid butter/cream based dishes (anything with ghee in it), and steer towards dishes that are cooked in tomato or broth-based sauces. Chicken rather than beef. Take home half your portion to enjoy later (left-over…
