  • I log every day and print reports for my doctor and a specialist from MFP. It actually has most everything that they want to see on it. Everything more has to come from lab tests. I also keep a journal of what's going on with me during this time for them and they can take a look at that any time there's anything out of the…
  • I was talking with someone about diet and we got around to the things we do without thinking. One of them is when you get to the bottom of a bag of chips or whatnot, do you eat the crumbs at the bottom without thinking that they actually COUNT?
  • Good Going! I bet you felt better (exhausted but better) for having done it too.
  • You're very welcome to add me as a friend here.
  • Sometimes it only takes one little (sodium packed) thing to pack that water and everything else that went with it into your system. What is surprising is that when you work that sodium out of your system by eating exactly right and so on.... suddenly you look at the scale and it wasn't just the sodium weight or water…
  • All my life I've fought to keep depression from swamping me. There have been times when it has but there were usually circumstances that pushed me over that line and into depression. All the things we do in order to get and stay healthy also battle depression. Exercise, better sleep habits, eating better and building a…

  • I have alot of weight to lose so didn't actually buy new smaller sized clothes till I was down about 35 lbs.and have now gotten rid of my biggest sized clothes. The reason I am getting rid of them is simple. I live in a small apartment. There is ONE closet and it's clothes, linen, vacuum cleaner.... everything. Keeping my…

  • I don't work at focusing on a time line. Timelines are a pressure that I can't handle at all. When I do that, I end up sabotaging myself. This time around I'm AIMING at losing 1 to 1.5 lbs a week but I'm not driving myself nuts over it when I don't. I'm also doing about 2 hours of exercise 5 days a week and just walking on…
  • Wear those yoga pants proudly. After all, they're forgiving of bad times, loving in good times when you're skinnier, and they do what you want them to without whining at you about those 5 lbs that sneaked up on you while being wonderful and fitting till you get too darned skinny for that size. Mine are the best for wearing…
  • Emotional eaters can overcome but there's a reason that they're an emotional eater. Soothing your hurt, anger, upset at what's happening, pain, and celebrating good things or dealing with boredom by eating are habits that you have to take some time and some very hard work to replace with better habits. Habits don't just…
  • Make sure you order salad or non-carb veggies and portion your plate. Take the rest home as a doggy bag or share it with someone else.
  • 1. blank paper 2. food journal for my specialist 3. pen, 4. my watch 5. Gardener's Dream Cream (hand and body skin cream - all natural from health food store)
  • 1. blueberries (fresh or frozen) 2. lettuce (salad greens of any kind, really) 3. tea (green or black) unsweetened and coming up to the top of the list as a snack: Trail Mix Good grief, that sounds too virtuous. I'm truly not that good. Its just all the other things are so varied.
  • Your Daily Goal (I'm surmising the last 3 are all in grams) 1,360 calories, 187 carbs 45 fats 51 protein
  • On weekends I try to keep within my macros but I don't live on any set schedule or do more than try to eat as healthy as possible. And I simply try to get in one or two good walks a day on those days.
  • I try to stay between 1200 and 1400 calories a day and swim 5 days a week. I walk the other 2.
  • Work on "eating to maintain" and have your doctor give you an ideal weight instead of taking it from a book or a "you should be this weight for this height". Then maintain that weight.
  • I'm a great believer in moderation. You can eat what you want but as long as you try to do it healthy and within the calories that you need to lose slowly and get the exercise that we all need in order to make it all easier and get healthier in the process, its all good.
  • I would let the lady know that you're not to be used as a stepping stone to what she wants and that you'd thought that she was a friend until that point. As to the guy, consider yourself forewarned and fore-armed.
  • The man is frightened. He's afraid that you're losing the weight, getting all purty and stuff and going to dump him for a new guy. Men can be just as or even more insecure than women can. I wonder if he's read any of those "signs my **** is cheating" things that are out there because the first major sign that somene is…
  • Do yourself a favour and click on reports. Build every set of reports over a 30 day period that it will give you and print each one out. Take them with you when you go to the doctor next including a printout of your goals and maybe even a sample of most days' food diarly. The consternation in her eyes from knowing you…
  • I find that if I weigh too often it affects everything else in my life. A little OC?! Yes. My body image is pretty awful but I love the person that I am inside and am well on my way to making things better for myself. A bad weigh-in can sabotage my day and my diet because I'm not in enough control of emotional eating YET.…
  • Sorry, there's no such thing as instant weightloss. If it took you a long time to gain the weight, it stands to reason that you can't just wish it off. You're going to have to work harder than you ever did to gain because gaining's easy for most people. And once it's gone, you can't just let up and go back to eating like…
  • LOL The OF never made it into the sentence when I edited...
  • I know that there are a few others out there that are now using MFP but none of them have contacted me. Those of us that haven't stated to him that we're doing TOPS, WeightWatchers or another plan with serious accountability or for whom finances are of great concern and don't feel they can afford to eat right AND do one of…
  • My mini-goal is close enough that I'm getting impatient to get to it. I had been looking to get below 250 lbs and though I don't set a time limit to reach it, it's still a goal to achieve. I did start out at 300 so I'll get there slowly, but I will get there. One of the decisions that I made when I started out was that I…
  • I gather from you are from somewhere that uses british measures so am sending you to a UK website. Try going to this one and read everything you can and then look at the resources available from this site. http://www.foodguidepyramid.co.uk/uk-food-pyramid-eatwell-plate.html
  • Fad Diets usually last for a very short time. They leave you wanting something not on the diet and when you blow it you end up demoralized. I just tell people that I have a 5 year plan. Eat healthy, keep within my macros, and exercise. What i don't tell people is that its a 5 year renewable plan for the rest of my life.
