Yeah, this is pretty much what I have figured now. I have taken the sugar counter off my food diary and will keep doing what I am doing (and what I have done in the past). :-)

I have tried Truvia and I absolutely hate the taste of it. It is very bitter imo. The thing is, I don't use sweetners in drinks, etc. I only eat fruit or yogurts generall, or drink juice. Recently though, I have been thinking of getting a juicer so I can still have juice at breakfast, butmake it myself every day. That way,…

I was recently ill as well (last month). I took extra doses of vits as well as some I don't usually take - olive leaf complex, green powder, etc. I took doses of this along with my usual ill vits and otc meds about 4 times a day, each day. I got well so much quicker than I ever have! (by the 3rd day I was almost all the…

Well I only eat one fruit a day usually (an apple, a banana, etc), so I think I am ok in terms of ammount. Candy as well will have lots of nasty little chemicals such as artificial flavourings/colourings. I think I will go ahead and turn off the sugar counter as I am doing exactly what I used to do when I lost 25lbs…

Lemon is a great addition as it is also a natural detoxifier. I use one lemon slice in my water at least once a day, if not twice.

Good luck to you, only 9lbs to go! I will add you and look at your diary if you don't mind. :-)

I am hungry again a couple hours after breakfast as well - but I know this will happen so I am ready with my "mid-morning snack". This is always something like a piece of fruit, some cheese and fruit, yogurt, nuts, etc. Sometimes I get hungry again between lunch and dinner (esp right now with doing bikram) so I do a…

Tbh, this is a bit difficult for me, bc I have been in the habit of drinking mainly water since I was about 13-14 years old. (I am now almost 27). For me, water is such a normal part of my daily routine, I do not even think about it. I do not like soda, haven't had it in so many years. I drink juice at breakfast, and…

I love bikram as well, it is the first thing I have tired that I actually enjoy doing! Aside from the wonderful phsyical benefits, I find the mental benefits in terms of stress management, etc are what really help me as well. After every class, I feel energised, positive, happy and just generally good all over. I am a…

You are very welcome! I totally identify with what you have said, I am at a point too where I am just so tired of going through the same cycles! The important thing is, you are ready to do something about it. It may sound cheesy but this really is the first, big step to you achieving your goals. With time, patience,…

First thing: your goal. Start a little at a time. I want to loose a total of 30lbs, but my current goal atm is to loose 10 of that by the end of the year. Aside from Christmas, my birthday is 4 days after and I want to be able to go out for it, have a nice night, wear a fabulous dress and feel beautiful in it, and eat cake…

I read it can burn about 600 calories per session - that is from Bikram's personal site http://www.bikramyoga.com/. For my own I put 500 calories as I figure it is more suited to my current size/body shape (I am only about 5'4") Either way, that is awesome. Nice to meet another Bikram convert. :-)

I think the reason people on your friends list feel at liberty to comment is if you make your diary public. Not saying you, or anyone else shouldn't, but perhaps some people assume that because you make it public to them, that you are welcoming their comments/suggestions. I recently had someone do this to me as well. I had…

I practice bikram yoga and had to add it to the database. I looked up info on the official bikram site to find out how many calories it burns. I added an approximate ammount, so I know it is not exact, but more or less, I figure I am ok. If you cannot find it, I would suggest you do the same. If you don't know how many…

BCSMama and Pregosaurus - you guys have hit the nail on the head! It is indeed about re-training/reprogramming how you regard food and it is definitely a process to get there. BCS - I am astress eater as well, so totally understand what that is like! The other thing I find, and not just on this site, but amongst my…

This is quite disturbing when even health professionals give the wrong information! I guess it would be easy to think "If I barely eat anything, I will loose more weight", but at the same time, I hope people would listen to their bodies and when they feel that gnawing bite of hunger, eat something healthy to fulfill that…

Well, have to disagree with the bad food thing, as I do not think any processed foods or foods full of chemicals are good in any way. But yes, I think that is the other issue. As soon as people are at a point where they are ready to do something about their weight, they want the weight to be gone right then and there.…

I am going to try my first OA meeting next Tuesday night, will see how it goes!

This is good advice as well - even with a friend who was overweight: if they never brought it up, I would most likely let it be, but if they started talking all the time about wanting to loose weight, or being unhappy about their weight, yet still engaged in unhealthy patterns, i.e. eating poorly, not working out, etc,…
-
I would never bring this up to someone unless I had a very close relationship to them, i.e. family, close friends, my partner, etc. If it is someone you have a relationship with, then I think it appropriate as if they are truly obese and not just some extra pounds, you owe it to them as someone you profess to care about,…

I haven't spoken to a dr or nutritionist about it, but I have read the same in many places. I think it has something to do with general energy levels as well as giving your body the time it needs to rest and metabolise itself. I have also read that if you are overweight, it can affect how you sleep as the extra fat/weight…

Mine is too easy to guess....amongst many things, it's known for rain, fog and a famous little song about some bridge....

My times can vary depending on my daily schedule, but generally speaking: I work out in the morning (bikram yoga) only having water and sometimes a coconut water to hydrate for the session. Come home and eat breakfast Mid-morning snack Lunch Depending on how hungry I am, sometimes I have a mid-afternoon snack Dinner I am…

Thanks guys for your responses so far, it is very helpful. I figured it would be more important to average my calories on a weekly basis - meaning only if I consistenly over or under ate every day, that would be bad. I will do some more research as well though to find out why my body may be reacting this way as well.…

I know for myself personally, I have to eat right AND work out to see real weight loss. If I just work out but don't eat properly, it just doesn't happen. I know you said you only have one cheat meal a week - which isn't bad, but perhaps in the beginning you need to be very strict on yourself and not allow any cheating?…

I want to loose 30lbs as well, and I anticipate to go down one cup size. I am currently a 36-38D (dependent on brand of bra) and when I used to be at my goal weight, I was a 36C - so really hoping this is what I go back down to. Hope this helps!
-
Hmmm, I have never actually noticed this, but I am about to start this week (probably tomorrow or next day) and my weigh day is tomorrow, so I will keep an eye and see if I do at all!

I do not subscribe to the "I'm just a victim in all this" mentality either. It is our own choices that ultimately lead to our state of health, be it good or bad. Especially nowadays when so much infomation is readily avaiable to people, people really no longer have an excuse to not understand what they are putting into…

I have been curious about this since I watched this. Taking leptin supplements to get it working properly again if yours happens to be off. I would assume it would be a type of thing where you only take it for so long, until your body evens itself out - and obviously avoid fructose as this would only put it back out of…

Ok, so not a dietician or a doctor or anything, but my personal opinions are to 1. eat only fresh and/or organic foods (so, nothing in a box, nothing processed, etc) and 2. depends on what type of carbs you mean. Veggies have carbs - but they are the good kind, whereas loads of white bread is the bad kind. Protein is good…
