I always buy unsalted chicken broth/stock... and when I can't or don't have that, I severely dilute the stock I have on hand (somewhere between 1/2 to 1/4 of what the recipe calls for of stock and the rest I replace with water). You still get the chicken flavor (less of it, though) without so much of the salt. The problem…

CHECK IN Lost 1.4 pounds since last week - I am officially at a healthy BMI again at 154.6!!! :) I made some adjustments to my exercise routine, and added back in some calories to my eating because I was showing signs of a plateau last week... I'm super glad it worked and I made my December goal with just two days to go! I…

CHECK IN No weight loss this week, despite exercising every day and meeting or being just under my calorie goal every day. I have hit my first plateau 2/3 of the way to my weight loss goal. It's a bit disappointing because I'm just 1 pound away from a healthy BMI and I was hoping to hit that for my personal x-mas gift...…

I had my weigh in yesterday (which I reported yesterday) and decided to do a progress check on my December goal last night. My goal was to be able to fit back into my business suit for potential interviews in the new year. I am happy to report that I was successful and was able to easily fit back into my suit! So I am…

Thanks for the input on dessert cal portions. I'm a distance runner, so I always burn at least 800 cals a day just from my basic workout... so I usually get to eat around 2000 cal/day to meet my 1200 cal goal (a good thing too, because I'd feel like I was starving on any less). I tend to always be a little high on the…

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone! Well, I had my official weigh-in this morning and I'm happy, but confused. I lost 3.8 pounds since last Wednesday - which is about 2 or 3x what I typically lose in a week. My scale has always been really accurate and gives me the same weight as the doctors' scales, and it has the %…

Grokette: Look, not to disagree that diet soda cake probably isn't the greatest nutritional endeavor, but I would expect someone who is of your educational background to know a little better than to make the ridiculous mistake that you have... ALL foods, even organic raw foods, contain chemicals - remember the periodic…

Hi All! So I've been trying to think about what my December goal should be and I just keep getting stuck. I am about 7.5 pounds from hitting a "normal/healthy" BMI, so while I think I could get really close, I don't think I will make it before the new year. However, I am only 1.5 pounds from being back in the 150s! :) So I…

Okay, so I was very apprehensive about the Thanksgiving holiday and how that would affect my eating, exercising, and weight loss goals. I went home to my parent's house for 4 days and weighed myself the day I left. My husband is really supportive of me, so he made sure to help me get out and go for my run each day we were…

Hi All! I'm new to this forum, but am super excited to see a non-mom group that I can identify with. Julie TX86, I hope your lab recovers quickly - and stops jumping fences!

I signed up to run a 5K road race the morning of Thanksgiving (make sure I get some exercise in before I'm too full and tired to do it) and I convinced my husband and two brothers to join in the race as well! :) Also, I'm planning my food ahead of time - as in, I know my mom's standard Thanksgiving dinner menu, and I'm…

Just tried this last night and it is AWESOME! :) I used 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp cloves for a pumpkin pie seasoning... Brought some to work this morning with graham crackers and it's been a big hit. Thanks for the recipe! Also, I had an idea for a pie with this filling... Get a pre-made graham cracker…

I have a Tanita scale (model #BF-681W) that wasn't too expensive and I've been very happy with. I had a bodpod assessment done a few months ago, and it was almost spot-on for the %body fat that I've been seeing on my scale at home. My scale has several features: weight (duh), % body fat (measures by using Bioelectric…
