A lot of big chain restaurants have calorie counts online, so it's a big help to plan ahead a bit. I've had particularly good success at Red Robin (if you get fruit on the side instead of fries you can eat one of their awesome burgers without too much guilt) and Panera Bread (tends to be a little high on the sodium, but…

I think this is a smart plan. You can get a ton of conflicting opinions here, but I support the whole "road map" idea. A couple things to think about -- Since you have a good amount of weight you'd like to lose, you can afford to be a little more aggressive in the early parts of your weight loss. Your body has more fat to…

If you're getting stronger, I would reevaluate your goals a little bit. Are five pounds really the deciding factor in your happiness? I would gain 5 pounds right now if you told me I'd be able to go from no pushups to 20+ of them. It sounds like you've had amazing success so far, but you're not really enjoying it because…

If you're eating 2000ish and burning 900ish, you're only netting around 1100 calories, which really isn't that much? If the number of calories you're burning is accurate, then you're hungry because you're fueling your very active body. Burning that many calories every day is a pretty crazy routine! My advice... well,…

Though I'm not really following the primal diet myself, I think this is a pretty solid article on how much exercising is too much: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-you-shouldnt-burn-more-than-4000-calories-a-week-through-exercise/#axzz2I9OCyLt7 Seems to make sense to me that sure, you could have days with a crazy high…

I would just request that you think about your motivations for doing this. Is it for ethical reasons? Or because you have some sort of intolerance? That's perfectly fine, to each their own But if it's because you're assuming it will be "healthier..." I would be very careful. There are unhealthy vegetarians! You can even be…

If you can wrap your mind around the idea that hey, there's a scientific reason this is happening, and I'm still doing all the right things... sure, keep weighing yourself. You'll be able to look back at this and see how you overcame a huge mental hurdle - that's a huge deal. I like your plan :)

Hahahaha, yay us. We wrote almost the same thing!

Sorry, but this is not true :) Your BMR is how many calories you would burn in a coma, more or less. Any daily activity (as in, getting out of bed) leads you to burn more calories than your BMR - this number is called your TDEE, which is dependent on how active you are. You are recommended to eat your BMR at minimum, but…

First of all, congrats on everything you've done so far! It's a huge success getting as far as you have I think worrying that you've ruined your metabolism is probably a slight overreaction... when you had the most weight to lose, your body could handle eating a little less, because it had more fat to work with. As you get…

Are those 5 pounds in your ticker 5 pounds that you've lost over the past month or two? In that case, what's the problem? If you're losing a half pound a week or more, on average, then you're doing the right things. Weight loss when you're already fairly small is slooooooooooooooooow :) It's been a month, and from the…

At 5'6", 135 pounds is my goal weight! I'm at 142ish right now... I think you need to step back from the scale a bit. Your weight is perfectly healthy - if you don't like how your body looks, it's because of your ratio of fat to muscle. As the others have said, I would suggest eating more, especially protein. That will…

You can certainly lose fat (and as a result, weight) by just eating at a deficit and walking. However, you probably won't like the results. If you look through the success stories here, I'm willing to bet all the "after" pictures that you aspire to probably came from a combination of nutrition and serious exercise. Less…

Are you using MFP's numbers for how many calories you're burning? One thing to think about is that for a lot of people, MFP overestimates how many calories your exercise is burning. Generally I've found that during my hardest workouts, I can just barely burn 100 calories per 10 minutes (so 600/hour). You could use a heart…

Typically for a woman, your waist measurement is the smallest part on your torso (most commonly a couple inches above your belly button, but that's not true for everyone), and your hips are the widest part But in reality, the important thing is to pick a part of your body and measure that part consistently. I've lost 4.5"…

Most importantly, congrats on your awesome weight loss! The typical tips I hear are to drink lots of water and moisturize the area. You want your skin to be in tip-top shape so that it has the best chance of springing back. Age and genetics also have a lot to do with how easily your skin can rebound from the weight loss.…

Since you didn't tell us anything about your height/weight/age, it's a little hard to say :) But generally speaking, if you're around average height for a woman, 1550 is not too much. If you're smaller, it may be borderline too much, and if you're taller, it may be not enough. At 5'6" I ate at 1550 (more when I exercised)…

My two cents is that I don't think you need to eat less, I think you need to give it a few more weeks Any time you dramatically change your daily routine, your weight is going to freak out (could go up, could go down). After a few weeks you will start to see if your new routine is actually working for you or not. I've lost…

One thing to think about. Are you trying to go from eating unhealthy, not tracking, and not sleeping enough to the opposite all in one go? Maybe you should attack your goals in smaller chunks, rather than thinking you'll be perfect every day from here out. You could start by committing to tracking, regardless what the…

I think 1200 might still be a little on the low side? How much weight are you trying to lose? How much weight did you set MFP to to lose per week? If you have a somewhat small amount of weight to lose (20 pounds or less?), you want to set MFP to lose no more than .5lbs/week. Since your daily number of calories is already…

And oils can be a pretty healthy fat - good for your skin, hair, so forth. I think cutting anything in excess without reason is kind of silly, myself. I've lost weight (and inches around my midsection) eating all of those things in moderation
-
You sound a lot like me :) I'm 5'6", was 150 and flabby, now 142 and somewhat-less-flabby (I lost 4.5 inches off my midsection, not too shabby?). I've love to lose a few more inches, and it'd be nice to be under 140, since I'm pretty small framed, but we'll see. As a fellow sushi lover, there are a couple things I do to…

This is good advice! Strength training (lifting things that are heavy!) is by far the most efficient way to lower your body fat percentage. I'd also advise that you should back away from the wrist/ankle weights and find a routine that's less mean to your joints. Best of luck!

You're averaging over 2lbs/week, which is A LOT of weight loss, especially considering you're not that big to begin with. You have to realize two things: one, what plateau? 9 pounds in 4 weeks is great. Two, as you get smaller the weight comes off slower. When you only have around 20 pounds to go, I'd seriously doubt that…

In the simplest sense, eating at a moderate deficit is all that's required to lose fat (and therefore inches). However, unless you add in exercise, you're likely to also lose more muscle than you'd like The first thing to know is that losing inches takes TIME. How often are you measuring? I would say absolutely not more…

Not sure if this has been said, but how much weight do have set to lose a week? If you're set to lose a pound a week, you're eating at a 500-calorie deficit each day. That means if you go over by 500 today, you're eating what you need to maintain your weight. One day where you MAINTAIN your weight (not gain, maintain) is…

It might be a bit reassuring to hear that I'm 5'6" and have gone from about 150 pounds down to around 142 eating 1600-1700ish calories a day (and more when I exercise). Slow progress, but I'm pretty proud nonetheless. I started out at 1200 (doesn't everyone?) and was a grumpy mess. My weight loss has been slow, but it's my…

As you probably already know, there's absolutely nothing you can do about the fat on your arms, except continue exercising and wait for it to come off in its own time. You burn fat from all over your body, not necessarily from the area you're exercising I think the slightly better news is that lifting weights with your…

Both numbers are well within the range of normal fluctuations - plus the % of error with these sort of tests. What I'd really recommend is measure after a month, after two months, and those numbers will have much more meaning. As for the weight, specifically, mine goes up and down a couple pounds day to day, and I believe…

Of course, as you probably already know, there are some VERY unhealthy salads out there. Just keep an eye on what sort of toppings (cheese, dressing, etc) you put on. But what I really came to say is that you need to make sure you're getting enough protein - obviously chicken is easy, but you could probably also go with…
