I agree with everyone...try to eat a small something anyway. A lot of times, I am simply not hungry at lunch time but I know if I don't eat something then I am likely to clean out the fridge in the afternoon. For me, I usually eat a Luna Bar (Nutz Over Chocolate is my favorite) or some sort of trail mix (without chocolate…

I weigh and measure periodically. At this point, for example, I know what a cup of cereal is by how much it fills up my bowl and I know how many slices are in an ounce of cheese. I think you need to measure occasionally to keep everything "honest" but I don't obsess about it. I know where to fill up my bowl to get a cup of…

As long as you are not hungry then I wouldn't worry too much about it. And, seriously....don't worry about the sugar in broccoli.

Funny...I was thinking about this earlier this morning. I felt pretty bad yesterday - splitting headache, stuffy nose, ear aches. I was supposed to run but I walked instead and it did make me feel better for a little while. I feel worse this morning though and DO NOT want to exercise. However, I teach water aerobics 6 days…

I actually don't think pizza is all that bad if you stick to one or two slices and plan for it. I actually don't like Pizza all that much....my thing is Nachos (homemade so I can control some things on it). We eat mexican on Sunday nights around here and I simply am not going to give up my nachos. Are they good for me?…

Don't worry too much about what is ideal...you have to work within the realities of your life. If 8:30 at night is when you can work out then that is when you do it. Your body will adjust and even if it does affect your sleep at first over time that won't be an issue any more. I prefer to work out in the morning but I…

Always first thing in the morning after I use the bathroom. I have been logging my Monday morning weight but I have decided to move that to tuesday or wednesday. We usually have Mexican food in our house for dinner on Sunday night and the sodium is killing my monday morning weigh in...that seems to be my heaviest day of…

I had that day yesterday so I feel ya. Best thing to do is go ahead and log your food anyway and then move on. We all have crap days and fall off the wagon (so to speak). Owning up to it and logging in (even if you can't remember all you ate and it becomes just guessing) will help clear your mind to log in all the good…

If it makes you feel any better...we do mexican night EVERY week here. I don't use the kits but I do make myself Nachos...yummy :-). Oh...and I agree with everyone else...you would need to add the meat in.

I find making small changes over time to be key. Whenever I try to change a ton of stuff at once it doesn't work. For example, I don't drink soda...ever. I used to drink 6 or more full caffeine, full sugar sodas a day. Do you know how many calories that was?!?!? So, I gave that up but didn't give up any of my other bad…

I always eat my exercise calories. I lose weight a lot more consistently that way. Be careful if you are relying on what MFP estimates for calories burned though...the numbers seem a little bit high to me. I tend to be very conservative with what I estimate for calories burned but then eat every one of those calories. I…

I have read good reviews about Room but the premise sort of makes me sad. Let me know what you think about it. I am finally getting around to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". It took me quite a while to get into it but now I am enjoying it. I have been reading a lot of "chick lit" lately so this is a nice break from that.

I am doing the one in Virginia in October. Can't wait to hear how yours goes this weekend!

It is in Charles City Virginia. Looks to be between Richmond and Williamsburg.

I was going to do the North Carolina one (I live in NC) but by the time I found out about it there were no morning slots left and I just could not face doing the dash in the afternoon in AUGUST. That reminds me...I need to sign up for the Virginia one before that happens to me again.

Oh...and funny story related to this...my sister growing up LOVED little debbie swiss rolls. My mom found that she would buy them for my sister and then end up eating a bunch of them herself. So, she tried putting them into the freezer figuring that if she had to wait for them to thaw then she would be less likely to eat…

So....just reading this topic made me seriously crave the unopened Hershey bar that was in my pantry (leftover from s'mores on a camping trip). The more I read, the worse the craving became. So, clearly, I am one of those people that can't have the stuff in the house. I just went and split the bar with the kids so now it…

There is an article in the newest issue of consumer reports that puts Jenny Craig at number one. Not sure what the differences in the studies are...

I have found over time that tracking my calories is the only thing that works for me. That is why I am back here. I lost a bunch of weight a few years ago by tracking. Then I decided that I knew enough about all this that I didn't need to track any more. I was wrong - I have gained back about 10 or 12 lbs. of the over 40…

Congrats on your success so far! I have been using MFP off and on for awhile but recently started paying more attention to the community aspect of it and adding friends because my biggest problem is not logging my foods like I should. It is helpful to me to have friends that cheer me on when I actually do the stuff I am…

I am soooooooo with you guys on cheese! I limit my intake more than I used to but I will not give it up. That is honestly why I work out so much - so I don't have to give up cheese and wine (and the occasional saltine with butter).

My neighbor (who is a nutritionist) says that it is not one gram of protein per pound...it is one gram per kilogram. Which really makes a whole lot more sense and is a whole lot more doable. That is for maintenance, by the way. You need to up it some when trying to build muscle.

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism - double whammy! It is completely possible to lose weight though I do have to be a little more diligent. I lost 35 lbs. previously and was really happy with my weight. I have let it creep back up about 12 lbs. over the last year but that is completely my fault (not paying the tiniest bit of…
