Thanks! Yesterday I started biking, so next time I will ask someone how to adjust the settings.

Thanks for the encouragement! I will probably have to start lower. Wallking at 3.3 mph was pretty fast for me. I don't want to fall off of the treadmill, haha. But who knows? Maybe there is this speedy runner inside of me somewhere.

Week 6! Nice job. I really wanna try it. How do you get your hands on the treadmill version?
-
Thanks. I will try bumping it up by .1 every 30 seconds and see how it goes. And I think I have been thoroughly convinced that it is ok to make noise in there. So beep away I will!

Thanks for the encouragement! I don't mind biking, but for some reason I have wanted to try out running for about a year now. For years I have had these dreams where I start to run, and I end up feeling so free and strong. I just love the feeling in the dreams, and I guess I am hoping maybe a little of that will transfer…

Thanks so much! I will try to slowly increase next time I go and see where I break stride. I might find someone outside of the movie room to help me out. You are the second person to suggest that, and for some reason I hadn't considered it yet, lol.

Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement, everyone! My brother usually goes mid morning, and I am gonna try to tag along with him as much as possible. I would think that would not be a super busy time. Next time I go, I will give it a whirl and try it out. Thanks for advice on the speed. I feel stupid asking such…

Olympics right now. But about to watch "Friends with Kids" :). I sure do love nights off!!!

Thanks so much for the info, I will look into both of the scales. I never thought about one that logged the info. That would be a nice feature to have. Are these scales pretty pricey? I am on a budget right now. :( Also, should I weigh myself daily but not log in the number on this site for at least a month?

Is it digital? Let me know what you think when it arrives. Funny that we both need one at the same time.

I have never heard of this. I will definitely look into it. My antibodies have gone from well over 3,000 to a little over 300 in the last 5 years. I am much better than I was at the onset of the disease. But I still have little ups and downs, and I have always wondered how much food affects the way I feel on a daily basis.…

Hmm...Still haven't gotten any replies to this. And I am still very curious, lol. Is there a better board to post this question? If this is the wrong spot, let me know.

Thanks for the good ideas. I will try out the quinoa. That sounds fun. As for the yogurt, I don't know if I am that ambitious, lol. We'll see.
-
Thanks for the list of proteins. I will try to start incorporating more of those. I don't necessarily like all of them, lol. But I am sure I could experiment to find a way to like them :). For some reason I forget about seafood...Quinoa. That is something I need to try to make at home. I have only had it in restaurants. Is…

If I could find a goat's milk yogurt, I would eat it all up!!! I have looked, but just can't seem to find one. I was starting to think that maybe they didn't exist. I will look into those protein bars. They sound like a yummy "treat" that could work into my plan.

Wow. There are a lot of big words here that I don't understand, lol. How would you go about doing such a thing? I honestly have no clue what you are talking about, although I do appreciate the response.

[/quote] My plan is: Breakfast: 1:1 carb-to-protein, 10g of fat - usually I eat almonds with 6oz fat free greek yogurt mixed with 6oz low-sugar fruit yogurt. Snack: Optimum Nutrition Natural Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein (Chocolate) with water + nectarine, peach, apple, strawberries - whatever fruit I find exciting.…

Oddly enough, I am incredibly allergic to eggs, and fairly allergic to dairy, but most hard cheeses seem to not bother me too much. But if I eat yogurt (which I miss sooooo much), or drink cow's milk, I break out in hives and get ear infections. Not to mention have trouble wheezing and breathing. I am a mess! Any other…

Wow, I love reading all of these responses. I am gonna go change my profile settings so that my food diary is public. That way you can all look at it if you want. Or you can request me as a friend if you want :). The thing that I struggle with most is getting my proteins high, and my fats low. It seems like they always…

I also have hypothyroidism. Hmm. Curious as to how you keep your proteins so high, while keeping your fats so low. That is my biggest struggle. My fat is always way too high.

Thanks for all the thoughts, folks! I am gonna experiment for a week or so and maybe try a 50/30/20 for awhile. I do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, so I would have to cut back on them to get to 40. I am think right now it might be better to focus on getting fats down and proteins up. I eat too much fat (blush). We'll…

Cool. Thanks so much for the info. I think that I could easily keep my carbs at 50, but I am not sure how to get my protein up to 30 while getting my fats down to 20. My fats are consistently about 30. I do eat nuts daily, but I hate to cut back on those because they curb my appetite and keep me satisfied until the next…

Thanks so much for sharing! I just started here, and I want to lose about 20 pounds. Seeing your results is encouraging and inspirational. It makes me feel confident knowing that others have been successful at this. I struggle right now to workout, because I get so winded so quickly. Nice to know that will get better the…

Just to understand the lingo, when you say 50/30/20, does 20 stand for proteins or fat?
-
I usually have a glass of almond milk, some kind of fruit, and a handful of nuts. That seems to keep me full and satisfied for quite some time. (If I skip the nuts, I get hungry much faster!)
-
@firedragon, I don't drink tea that much. I do drink coffee in the morning, but never later than that or it will keep me up. I guess maybe I am drinking more water because it has been a hot week here. But I am cutting back on carbs A LOT to stay under my calorie goal. Maybe that is it. Just want to make sure it isn't a…

People can be so insensitive. Just remember that the weight that comes off slowly by diet and exercise is easier to keep off in the long run. I am surrounded by co-workers that constantly go on fad diets that basically require them to put their bodies in starvation mode. They lose the weight quickly, of course. But it…

When I found out what the difference between a 3 oz. portion of prime rib vs. chicken breast, I quit eating it! Except the occasional bite hear and there (blush). I work at a restaurant, so making good choices is hard when you are surrounded by bad choices all day long!

I have found one thing that helps curb my sweet craving. I sprinkle cinnamon on a lot of things these days. The taste makes me think that I have added something sweet to my food without the calories. My favorite is peanut butter sandwiches. I used to need honey or jelly to eat those, but if I sprinkle cinnamon on it, it…

I too, love red wine. Whenever I start tracking my calories, I start trimming back on the wine. I start to think, "Do I want to eat an orange and a glass of almond milk to fill up my belly, or drink a glass of wine?" And sometimes I choose wine, lol. One thing that has helped me cut back is just having half a glass of wine…
