Bump - fantastic progress everyone!
-
Supportive fit-friends/fiance and chocolate that is less than 100 calories per serving :) (and I'm adding a third - my grocery store finally carrying shirataki noodles!)
-
Wow, that's a great site, thanks for sharing!
-
Bump, and great words of wisdom!
-
You just make up your mind to do it, and do it :) Don't beat yourself up about it, and try not to do it again. No special tricks. You can do it!
-
That's great advice that you got, Lizzie!

This topic is interesting. I wonder if this is why these types of products seem to have been pulled in Canada. About 5 years ago I recall a Becel spray product available. It was discontinued in 2010 (in Canada). About a year ago I found a I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray product (0 calories for 5 sprays), but now it…

This - I've experienced it first hand. The weight came flying off the week after!

This might get buried, but just wanted to add here. Surgery is not the answer. I have had 2 close friends who had this surgery. Both lost weight for a year, and then re-gained it and then some. Imagine how mortifying that was for them, not to mention the risks they took and money they spent. All for naught at this point.…

This! I wish I would have spent time with my grandmother in the kitchen - I would probably be a much better cook today!

I have a friend (who isn't an MFP'er, yet) who only sees results 2 weeks later. I find this happens to me to some degree too. So it might be helpful to you to think that's a possibility. Remember too, if you see the scale value go up you could just be retaining water. If you've been following MFP, it's very unlikely that…

When I was going through a very stressful time with a family member passing and high-stress job, my Dr. prescribed Buspar (also known as Buspirone in generic form). It had hardly any side-effects (biggest was some temporary dizziness shortly after taking it for about 10 mins, but nothing that wasn't manageable). It didn't…

Hi everyone! I'm Melissa. A recent new-comer to Ottawa, having moved here with my fiance from the Niagara region for his work. I work from my home office full time, and while I mostly enjoy it, I don't get as much exercise and it's so easy to gain weight! Even easier when your kitchen is 10 steps away from your desk and…

That sounds delicious!

I really like adding it to my salad for extra protein/bulk. Usually in the form of leftovers though. Yesterday we had turkey burgers for dinner. I had one, and saved the other for lunch today - I chopped it up and put it in my salad. was really good.
-
You look done to me - great job!!!!

It'll come in time. Mine took almost 12 years to ask... lol He was saving up for a ring (which is funny, because I chose a cheap one.)
-
And this. Don't let one day off discourage you. Similar to our struggle to lose weight (though I'm sure not even close to as tough as quitting drinking), just address it and move on with your goal, don't let it happen again.
-
This. Just wanted to say thanks for saying this. Same boat, except mine hasn't passed yet (just waiting for the call..). It truly is an amazing accomplishment to stop drinking. I'm proud of you all, you are so strong!

This! Things can always be improved, but it is by far the best tool I've found to help me. Agree that weight isn't always the best measure in the short term, depending on your situation, but over the long term it helps you chart your progress and reflect back on things you have done well so you can continue. And it's free!…

Oh my goodness, couldn't even imagine bar exam and wedding at same time!!
-
Not at all - fellow bride-to-be checking in! You can do it!
-
Wedding countdown-er checking in! I too have a bit of a ways to go (getting married next spring). You can do it!
-
It's fantastic! Congratulations!!

I like to mix in fat-free cottage cheese into my salads and pasta. It bumps up the protein, keeps me full for longer, and also makes sure that I'm getting calcium. There are some carbs in it though, obviously.

Neat! I'm new to apps (MyFitnessPal was my first), didn't realize this existed. Going to have to try MapMyWalk!
-
Hi Lizzie and welcome! I'm new here too, so take all my advice with a grain of salt. I suggest trying to start off slow - changing habits one habit at a time, one step at a time. It seems less overwhelming that way and you're more likely to stick with it in the long run. I know it's hard with the pressure of a looming…

I love mine too! I found it really accurate, and encouraging. Love how it charts out your progress. I only got a scale to weigh myself when I don't feel like dragging it out.
-
Don't beat yourself up about it :) What's important is that you have more good days than bad. Maybe when you have a bad day, use that as motivation to have more good days. You can do it!

Nothing's free - track everything :) It gets easier.
