I always drink a bottle of water every time I eat something, and I eat about 4-5 times a day, so about 64 - 80 oz.

What's your TDEE? What's your daily goal? How much weight do you have to lose?

I think tattoos are pretty stupid in general.

I eat fruit, but it is by no means a substitute for candy, in my mind.

I think I'd be fine with the six-figure salary he already pulls as head of cardiology in one of the best hospitals in the U.S.

Not a film, but the finale of Six Feet Under was the only media that has ever made me cry. It's the best ending to anything, ever.

I use it in place of milk when I can't afford milk's calories. I don't use it often, but it stays good for a couple months, which is nice.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who shares that sentiment. I see "lose" spelled more often incorrectly than correctly on this forum. English class is so you can learn to communicate outside the classroom.

I use it for cleaning apples... I wouldn't dare eat it. It smells awful.

Beat me to it. :)

Feet are about shoulder-width apart and angled out about 10 degrees.

kk, no presses either. Thanks. Sucks because squats are my favorite. :(

3 days of rest and I came back and did squats with an empty bar. My hip flexors hurt more than ever. Any suggestions? For now I'm going lay off the squats and do leg presses instead. Also, I did have someone check my form before. He said it was good aside from leaning forward onto my toes, which I promptly corrected. I…

Yes, because I'm picky and have a limited number of things that I both like and are easy to prepare.

My point was that hunger has nothing to do with BMR as you seem to imply. Yeah, that's a good way of doing things. I do that too.
-
You can net below your BMR and still have a satisfying gross caloric intake if you exercise.
-
It is not important to eat above your BMR; in fact, the only purpose for BMR is to calculate your TDEE. What IS important is to not have too great of a caloric deficit. For some people, eating below their BMR and having too great of a deficit are one in the same thing, but that's because they're active; given the numbers…

Indeed it is.

Thanks. I would say it's more of a soreness, rather than pain, in my hips. My shoulder was in pain when I was bench pressing tonight, and actually caused me to fail on the first rep in one of my sets. I think I'm going to continue next week, but deload 50% on all the exercises.

I don't get it. Was what he said intended to be inflammatory?

"Breakfast" "All Else (Non-Chronological)" I don't use the default ones because I don't have designated meals; I eat what I want, when I want.

Ignoring their claim that using that weight will get you bulky, it is highly amusing when people act like muscle mass is just going to sneak up on you overnight.
-
Nope, you should eat according to your TDEE. You should eat about 80% of your TDEE, depending on how much weight you have to lose. A lot of people believe you shouldn't eat below your BMR, but they are wrong.
-
In other words* BMR is only relevant for calculating your TDEE. It doesn't matter if you eat over, at, or under your BMR; all that matters is your deficit.

I am thoroughly sedentary. Aside from weight training 3 times per week, I spend about 10 hours per day on my PC. Using a 1.2 multiplier, my TDEE is 1813 * 1.2 = 2176. 1813 + 300 = 2113. So I guess it wouldn't be quite a surplus, but rather maintenance.
-
I used the Katch-McArdle BMR calculator, which takes body fat percentage into account, and that can indeed account for a several-hundred calorie difference. My BF is 32%, and I'm 5'10", 216 lbs. As far as eating below BMR, I've never found any merit in the claim that you shouldn't do it. Also, if I ate 300 above my BMR,…

41 lbs. Pretty depressing, considering I'm only halfway to my goal, and the first half took me about 5 years to get off.
-
Just eat your TDEE minus 20%. It doesn't matter if you go below your BMR; all that matters is that your deficit isn't too large.
-
1550 typically. It's saddening to have to eat so little compared to most guys. I ate at my BMR (1813) for a month and didn't lose anything; in fact, I barely lose anything at 1550 (which I guess stands to reason if my maintenance is around 1813, because that would be a small deficit). I just upped my calories to 2000,…

As far as I know, an RMR (resting metabolic rate) test most accurately reflects your true BMR. I'm trying to get one done myself, but I'm having trouble locating a facility to get it done at. I e-mailed about four or five local medical centers about it but haven't heard back from any of them yet after several days. I'm…
