  • I'm wondering if they meant, "no matter how much I lose I will always FEEL fat." Like they'll always have the mentality of being a bigger person, even if the body they actually inhabit is in great shape. That's how I took it, anyway.
  • We actually played TWO versions of "Baby Got Back" at our wedding- the original and an acoustic version by Jonathon Coulton (you may have heard it BLATANTLY PLAGIARIZED on Glee). The best part was that the minister who performed our ceremony was dancing to the JoCo version with his wife for almost the entire song before he…
  • I felt that way around the 160's at 5'3. I still had my curves (and I was STRONG), but was still about size 14. However, my bones seemed rather large (something I didn't notice until losing weight), because my hip bones, collar bones, and ribs were pretty noticeable at that weight, at least to me. And I looked pretty damn…
  • Parmesan-roasted acorn squash from Real Simple magazine: Serves 4| Hands-On Time: 10m| Total Time: 40m Ingredients 1 2-pound acorn or delicata squash—halved, seeded, and sliced 3/4 inch thick 2 tablespoons olive oil 8 sprigs fresh thyme kosher salt and black pepper 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (1 ounce) Directions Heat oven to…
  • I usually put a few teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice in mine (the non-sugared kind) I think it adds a few calories but they're pretty negligible if you don't add sweetener (which I usually don't when I make my coffee this way). The best part is you can fill a big cup with half of the coffee and half skim milk, add a little…
  • Unless something has changed radically in the couple of years since I took horticulture in college, the USDA cannot conclusively prove that organic produce is better for you than non-organic.
  • Beginning Challenge Weight: 192.6 Current Weight: 191.4 Difference: up .2 pounds Final goal: mid 170's
  • Beginning Challenge Weight: 192.6 Current Weight: 191.2 Difference: almost 1 1/2 pounds! I finally broke my plateau of not eating right and not exercising. Final goal: mid 170's
  • Gah! I totally forgot to weigh in this week! Beginning Challenge Weight: 192.6 Current Weight: 192.6 Difference: Back up .6 pounds but that's not bad considering how much I've overindulged this past week. Final goal: mid 170's
  • Beginning Challenge Weight: 192.6 Current Weight: 192 Difference: .6 pounds...better than nothing I guess Final goal: mid 170's
  • My cat Roark's favs include lentils, peas, plain lettuce, corn, and blue cheese crumbles. I would think the blue cheese makes sense, except all the other cats go barreling out of the room when I open the container  He's also been known to eat hummus and wheat thins if they are left unguarded.
  • For me it's 50's-60's vintage. Think Audrey Hepburn Funny Face. I'm also wearing a pillbox hat with a birdcage veil (as are all of my bridesmaids) and saddle-shoe heels. The one I loved was at David's Bridal, but it's not in season any more so I can't get it :-(
  • I'm getting married in October :-/ And although I've been looking for awhile, I can't find any dresses that I like. At this point, I'm considering going the dressmaker route.
  • Thanks for the suggestions and support, everyone!
  • Depending on the state you're in, you can go for an Ed.S. (education specialist) degree if you want to be a therapist. It's basically between a masters and a Ph.D, and in some states (like Indiana) you can have a private counseling practice without pursuing a full Ph.D. You can also use your Ed.S. degree to get teaching…
  • This! What a wonderful motivation!
  • Seasons 52's entire menu is 475 per meal if you have one near you. I haven't been yet, as the nearest one is over an hour away, but the foodie in me salivates when I look at their menu online. Many restaurants have an ala carte menu, so maybe you can order a steak or grilled chicken breast, and then get a salad or…
  • Ugh. I played soccer as a kid, and if we lost we ran laps. Lots of them, "to build our endurance," though it always felt like the coach was taking out his frustration on us for losing. My coach was a hard-*kitten*. Granted, if I had stuck with it I probably wouldn't be on MFP trying to get in shape  Our zeitgeist is…
  • Frogs legs, escargot, foie gras, ox, and lamprodotto (cow stomach). And they were all delicious. My semester abroad in Italy was basically a culinary tour of Europe. Oh, how I miss it...
  • I'm getting married on October 13th, and I'd love to be at my goal weight of 139 on that day. That's only around 7-8 pounds a month, so it should be pretty doable! My main issue is that I NEED to start shopping for a dress within the next month or two, and I will be nowhere NEAR my goal weight

  • SW: 207 (my record high) CW: 192.6 GW: Mid 170's UGW: 139 by October 13, 2012 (my wedding!)
  • Graduated December 2011 with a BS in Psychology and a BA in Classical Literature, with a minor in Sociology. Weird combo, but there you go.
  • The worst ones I've heard have been said to me when I studied abroad in Italy, and my favorite (and most common) groaner so far has been: "Excuse me, but I think you dropped something. (Points to ground) It's my heart!" Ugh. I also had the same guy ask me out three different times by asking 1) what time it is and 2) if I…
  • I'm in SW: 207 CW: 193 GW: Somewhere in the mid-low 170s ETA UGW: 139 for my wedding on October 13
  • I gained about 40 pounds on paxil in just a few months, on top of having balance problems so severe that I fell down on an almost daily basis (once such incident left me with a spectacularly impressive black eye. Truly magnificent). I've been off it for almost 9 months and the weight is just now starting to drop.
  • Christina Hendricks all the way. Or Jessica Rabbit. I'm all about the curves. I'd also like to have this figure while being able to run full marathons and bench press a car
  • After counting calories and measuring for awhile, I've gotten pretty good at eyeballing proportions/sizes. If I stop counting calories at some point in the future, I'll still have this skill, and I'll still be able to make more informed/educated choices in the future.
  • It's not an actual movie (more like a serial), but there's a channel on youtube called marblehornets. It's a multi-entry non-linear story (I think they're up to 53 entries now) and it is absolutely brilliant. It's told documentary style (like Paranormal Activity). Google slender man to find out more. These seriously freak…
