Same goes for me -- I'd love some new friends

My son has the FSHD form of MD. Part of his treatment is physical therapy, so he gets assisted work outs and does as much of the moves as he can at home in between PT sessions. Weight is becoming more of an issue for him, so he's also more careful about what and how much he eats. He has found that if he makes the effort to…

A couple of sites to try: veggieventure ---not a kid-specific (nor a vegetarian) site, but focus is on veggies and she does indicate when the recipes are a hit with kids twopeasandtheirpod --again, not vegetarian/kid specific but lots of veggie recipes that kids like

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Ice Cream. Omg.

Wow, that's a lot of directives you've just given OP. Never mind that nothing was said that gave any kind of indication - not even a little - that the daughter was "making demands", clearly you know this family better than the mother does and the mother is being forced to "pander" to the daughter. I can see why you're…

You're going to spend that money anyways. Is it selfish to spend it on yourself? Well, my guess is that most of it will be spent on yourself in any event. Unless you were going to actually, literally spend it to save the starving children you aren't shortchanging them. Spending money you weren't going to send them isn't…

In no particular order, the things I've hated recently: Not fitting/fear of not fitting in airplane seat, stadium seat, theatre seat, amusement park ride; The look I get when someone thinks I'm going to be sitting next to (on top of!) them in above mentioned seats; Having to pass through to get to a middle seat - where…

I love carbs. I can eat a mashed potato sandwich (homemade mashed potatoes on fresh sourdough, omg). But sometimes I need to notch it back a little too. Caulipots from Isa Moskowitz's "Appetite for Reduction" vegan cookbook: (makes 4 servings per the book, I get 5-6) (even my anti-veggie people like this) 2 russet…

I try to have a green salad every day. On Sundays I wash/spin a three pack of romaine. Three salad's worth goes into separate salad plates, the rest goes into a baggie. I prep all my veggies (chop green and red onion, cucumber, beets, carrots, whatever I have on hand). I make the 3 salads, the rest of the veggies go into…

This is what works for me: 1. Make a list before you go 2. Estimate the costs of the items 3. Take cash, enough for the items. 4. Stick to the list (#3 makes that a lot easier) 5. Stop buying convenience foods - mixes, pouches, pre-cooked, etc. Making a list and taking only enough cash to pay for what's on the list has…

There's not a lot I won't eat, but cottage cheese is definitely on this list. Even if I could get past the way it looks, then there's the whole texture thing. Maybe that's to distract one from the taste. Hubby, however, loves the stuff - he eats it generously covered in black pepper. Once in awhile with canned peaches…

______________________________ ]
Clearly you're not a fan of "Animal House" my friend. Classic quote from John Belushi. :)
Surely he must be joking - who could forget such a classic! And thanks, now 'Shout' is playing in my head. edit: no idea why it wouldn't quote properly

Um, thank you (?) for sharing your thoughts on the label you have chosen. I guess there isn't supposed to be a point?

I've read everything except 'Cooked'. "Omnivores Dilemma" is one of my favs. I really like his style, and I trust him. There's a bunch who read him over on the "ETL" group, you might have more luck with responses with that group. :).

Ooh, ^^this one just took cuts in the 'up next' line. The beet/blueberry one from the MFP fitness blog sounds good too. My current smoothie is almond milk, blueberries, banana, mango - with or without kale/spinach (depends on whether I have some on hand).

Welcome Jimmie! So there was a great guy on here that started at over 450 lbs, and was overwhelmed too. He started with logging his food and going for a walk. At first he could barely walk any distance because it hurt his knees and feet and he'd be out of breath. Now he runs (yes, runs) 5k's. Does crazy bouts on the…

What do the kids say? Surely they aren't happy being overweight -- I can't imagine a kid, especially a teen, who wants to be fat. Maybe they need someone other than you helping them. Have you considered taking the kids to a nutritionist? That worked for me with my kid --- as a teen he wasn't terribly interested in anything…

Just a suggestion - fill out your profile, even just a little. It helps to have friends on here, and you're more likely to get friends when they know something about you. Also, if you search in groups, there are several men's groups that you might find helpful. Welcome, and good luck!

OP, I was you. I've learned some very painful lessons, so for what it's worth: She's 8, she's confused, her whole life changed - and just because it's improved by your standards doesn't mean that she sees all that change as better - and you're the adult. Act like it. There's jealousy and resentment coming through your post…
