Agreed! But then again, I'm a bit biased  Bias aside though, ballet is great for strength, flexibility AND good posture. As for stretching after workouts, in my personal experience I find that it prevents DOMS (or at least greatly reduces it for me), makes me more limber and helps me sleep better after a…

Wow! Everyone looks fantastic! What wonderful inspiration! Congratulations to everyone on here!

IMHO if you're so active and you're feeling hungry, it's a pretty good indicator that you might not be eating enough. Upping your calories (healthily) won't throw you off track. I agree with the above poster. Find out your TDEE and your BMR and adjust accordingly. Feeling hungry all the time will make sticking to your…

31 here and would love some new fellow MFP friends :-) Feel free to add me.

Yoga, Ballet, strength training (if done with proper form), pilates, jumping rope (almost impossible to do with poor posture).

...When you take longer than usual to remove your t-shirt because your arms/shoulders/back are all too shaky. ...When you have to use your arms to help you "ease down" onto the couch because your legs are screaming. ...When the flat mat on the hard gym floor is suddenly as comfortable as the fluffiest mattress.

This is comforting to hear. I took this week off because I got sick due to lack of rest, as a matter of fact! Although I know it's very necessary for my body to have this break from the heavy lifting and cardio, I was a little worried.

I don't know about the above poster's opinion, but from my personal experience (I worked as a PT for four years in Bally's then NYSC) there were MANY of the fitness professionals who were "former fatties" as you call them. As it turns out, the majority of them were some of the best in their field because they understood…

Hey DavPul thanks for sharing the link! The woman jumping rope in the video was awesome! I agree with you on it being an awesome fat burning workout!

What is head cheese? Sounds like the results of a male venereal disease...

AGREED!! Why would anyone want to deliberately eat intestines?!?! Also liver is pretty awful.

LARD?!?!

Ugh! Agreed! Even the name sounds incredibly unappetizing

*CACKLE* @Sidesteel's comment!

I'm not alone!!!!

OMG THIS!!! I once had a guy wait until I was doing sets on one and he stood in front of me and chose THAT moment to start commenting on my looks! I was so creeped out!

I agree with pretty much all of the pet peeves here. I especially the getting hit on at the gym because to me, it happens when I'm at my most compromising positions (i.e. while performing a squat or a deadlift). Some douche decides he is going to stand almost directly behind me and choose the concentric phase of the…

Are you kidding? You better hope those things stay that developed! Do you know how hot it looks to have a tiny waist and well-defined legs? I agree with the poster(s) who said they look hot in heels. Put on a pair and strut your stuff girl!

Try not to focus too much on the numbers on the scale. That's a pretty quick way to become frustrated, since weight fluctuates for a number of reasons. Do you do strength training? If you focus on increasing your muscle, you'll burn fat a lot more quickly just standing still, because muscle requires more energy to maintain…

I hate - no - abhor prune juice also. Would rather chew the stuff. Quite effective! You might not even need 3 days of it! Also, coffee (if you're into it), yogurt, raw nuts. Hope it helps!

Holy cow! 1500 per SLICE??? That's insane!

As a teen, back when McDonald's had the ridiculously sized super size (y'know, the soda cup that looked more like a bucket of chicken from KFC and the boat full of fries) AND the 2 for $2 deal on Big Macs and apple pies. I had a huge craving for all of the above, so I got two Big Macs, the super sized fries and soda AND…

^^Really? I didn't know. I'll look into it. In the mean time, I still want to kick the refined/processed/artificial sugar habit for my own sake. I'd like to see what impact it'll have on my weight and well-being altogether. I did break down and have one madeline cookie today though *sob*

Can I join too? I've been trying to avoid processed sugar as well (although I've had a backslide or three :blushing: ). Someone on one of the topics on here posted something about Dr. Lustig's "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" on Youtube. I recently saw the video and have been trying to cut out the processed sugar stuff since!

I have a gigantic sweet tooth as well and what I found helped me was consuming foods that are naturally sweet in place of foods that have refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or added sugar in general. I find that if I sweeten certain with honey instead of table sugar that it satisfies my sweet tooth without craving…

Almond milk, (or any kind you prefer), honey, cinnamon and raisins.

Same here! Last week I went to an Asian restaurant and I usually love plum wine (a dessert wine that is so sweet it's sickening). I ordered a glass with my meal thinking I'd love it and I couldn't get past two sips! It felt like I was drinking liquefied sugar! I also find foods saltier as well. However, I haven't managed…

If you want to keep things a bit simpler and can't afford/don't have the room for a treadmill, you can always just run laps around the perimeter of your home. It's not as fun as running a scenic route, but it's a step up from a treadmill in the sense that it's [slightly] less monotonous and more challenging. Just carry…

One of my closest friends has a very similar story. She was sexually abused practically all of her life since childhood and aside from the depression (of course), she said she used to eat and purposely gain weight so that she would be unattractive to whoever was molesting her. I am sorry both you and my friend have gone…
