We were full from our starter of Turkish salad so only had a mini serving of the planned potato gnocchi with pesto.

We had Turkish salad tonight. This is a great one to bring to summer BBQs as it works well with grilled meat, and doesn’t look worse for wear if it sits around for a couple of hours. Watermelon, cucumber, feta, mint and optional olives. I just drizzle with either pomegranate molasses or balsamic vinegar.

Some other suggestions for alternatives to vinaigrette which is typically 3 parts olive oil to one part lemon juice or vinegar. A lower fat vaguely asian dressing I like is 1 part each of hazelnut oil, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Other traditional lower fat dressings to google are Vietnamese nuoc cham which contains no…

I had a friend who was identified with an intolerance to fodmaps in allium’s using a breath test at a doctors. I remember googling as to how to cook for him. Besides using green parts only of leek, chive and green onion as suggested by @SafariGalNYC I remember reading that sufferers made garlic oil by soaking crushed…

Here are the the guidelines I follow. You can google for more information about different species and their parasite risk.

Typo: freeze at under -20C for a week. My freezer can get to -24C but a lot of domestic freezers only reach -18C.

We went to upscale Lima restaurant. I must try to make the tuna tiradito at home. I do sterilise fish for serving raw by freezing at lower than 20C for a week according to FDA guidelines. Most home freezers do not get cold enough for this treatment. If yours does, you can save money by making your own sashimi grade fish…

@zumbaforever Here’s a classic moules mariniere recipe. Very quick and easy. A lot of variations are possible such as replacing white wine with apple cider, skipping the cream at the end or using a knob of butter instead.

Had a little time to make dinner because Easter weekend starts tomorrow. Cheats chicken teriyaki breast (cola and soy with garlic and ginger), egg fried rice made with leftover rice, my mom's frozen peas recipe that combines well with Asian food, leftover Korean beansprout namul.

Coley marinated in koji and pan fried.

A pretty quick weeknight meal. Lamb shank was sous vide on the weekend and browned in the air fryer tonight. Made a sort of waldorf salad with celery, raisins, capers, olives, and leftoveer aji verde. Sweet potato mash was made quickly by microwaving the roots, halving, then pushed through the potato ricer cut side down.…

Pho and a side of roasted beetroot.

Big brunch because we skipped dinner last night, being too full from a late lunch with out of town visitors. A semi brown focaccia because I didn't have enough white flour. Amazed that the bread turned out fine, because I was almost out of yeast too, and only used half the amount that the recipe called for. Followed…

Pan fried river trout. We had some leftover aji verde and pickles in the fridge.

Pan fried trout, leftover aji verde sauce, sauteed spinach, roast potatoes, leftover cold and pickled veg as garnish.

Hubby cooked. Dutch zuurkool stampot and salad with ranch. His stampot was mash, sauerkraut, meatballs and cooked ham.

We still had some roast chicken leftover from Saturday night's dinner party so I did the dinner of avgolemono soup and greek salad again. We didn't have any chicken stock in the freezer so I just used a stock cube which was still good. Soup was a more attractive pale colour.

I got home really late from work. This was a quick dinner pulled together from sous vide lamb shoulder we had in the freezer turned into satay after 5 minutes in the air fryer, leftover satay sauce from last week, leftover pomelo salad from Saturday, fried rice made from leftover rice we had in the freezer and some bok…

My go-to dinner for using up leftover roast chicken. Avgolemono soup and a greek salad.,

Impromptu dinner partry. One invited guest and one surprise last minute drop in. Gai yang, Thai pomelo salad, Korean beansprout namul, rice. I forgot to photograph creme brulee dessert.

Ooh. This is the fishs recipes recommend as the replacement the Nobu miso black cod which is hard to find and expensive. I don't think I see this much Chilean seabass in supermarkets either. Both have a high fat content making them easy to cook (no danger of accidental overcooking).

Pho, blanched choi sum, deep freeze store bought gyoza.
-
Over scorched air fryer chicken legs (the marinade was white soy which contains sugar), mash using up the seaweed butter from Saturday's dinner party, air fryer roast tomat, salad.

I thicken curries with grated potato. I know of people who keep a packet of instant mash on hand for the same purpose. If the meat is danger of overcooking when you realize the curry needs thickening, just take it out and boil the potato until it cooks down to a mush and return the meat to warm up afterwards.

Thai garlic and pepper beef stir fry using the leftover Txuleton from Saturday and some overcooked choi sum.

Last of the meals out with our foodie guests from Amsterdam. We were touring the good cheap eats restaurants in the neighbourhood. We went to iconic Mangal1 in Dalston for Turkish BBQ where dinner for 4 including tip was £100.

One of our visitors from Amsterdam is a bit of a foodie so we have been touring the great cheap eats close to East London. Friday night we went to the iconic, and rowdy Punjabi restaurant Tayyabs where a copious dinner for four came to £91 including tip. On Sunday morning we had dim sum for brunch in Chinatown. Lunch for 3…
