No need to apologize - you have a lot of things going on in your life. Vent, blow off steam, get it out of your system and get back to the books future doctor.

You are a good friend to her. Just be there when she needs your support.

^^^ this. Your doctor may refer you to a nutritionist who can help plan out of course of carb intake over the day. You don't want to have highs and lows as far as your blood sugar goes - it taxes the pancreas. The nutritionist will also review your fasting blood glucose and post meal glucose to see how you are managing…

The pricing may vary depending on your location but I will reference for the Pacific NW and shopping at the local Winco. Dozen eggs - $2 Bag of lentils - $1 Carrots - $1 Onions - $1 Potatoes - $2 Broccoli - $3 Bag of in-season fruit - $5 Head of lettuce - $1 Kielbasa sausage - $4 Package of boneless skinless chicken breast…

WOWSERS!!! What an incredible success! :flowerforyou: You look amazing and I'm sure you feel amazing! Congratulations!

I want to get rid of my concave butt (Jeff Foxworthy said it perfectly - it's like a frog wearing a pair of bluejeans). I want to be pretty. I want to look sexy. I don't want to be mistaken for my daughter's grandmother anymore.

Based on my experience, I generally lose a lot of weight at the beginning of a new diet/exercise program and then things slow down. It may be you are losing some initial water weight. Also, you are a 20 year old male with a higher metabolism and quick & positive response to exercise and eating at a deficit. Be happy with…

I'm on Metformin but for diabetes reasons. Never had any issues with the TOM but have struggled with the GI side effects - Immodium AD has been a lifesaver. Have been told my the ob/gyn that I have large cysts but didn't have issues with crazy periods, only hair on the chin and struggles to lose weight.

You hit it on the head with moderation. There should be no reason to fear your favorite food if you have room for it in your calorie budget. The way I look at it - I don't mind salads but if I eat salad every meal every day I would go nuts. I enjoy my french dip sandwich once in a while to ground myself.

Not a men's room awkward moment - in a high school girl's locker. I was trying to get my gym shoes on (which were too small at the time - I was growing out of shoes every 2 weeks it seemed). I was grunting and straining to get my shoe on. My classmates thought the noise was coming from the bathroom stall where one of the…

Actually, water is stored in huge above-ground water tanks here in the US. It's not uncommon to find a dead bird or two floating on the water stored in the tanks (oh the joys of getting an engineering degree to learn all these fun facts). One thing to remember is that most municipalities chlorinate their water to kill off…

Really have to watch the sodium due to the blood pressure issues. Got this list of low sodium frozen meals out of a magazine: Healthy Choice Sesame Chicken (460 mg sodium) Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken (450 mg sodium) Amy's Light in Sodium Mexican Casserole (390 mg sodium) Kashi Black Bean Mango dinner (380 mg sodium) Lean…

I don't have teenagers yet but my sister has a couple of teenage boys who kill her food budget. It's astounding how much they can put away in an afternoon. What I do try to keep in the fridge at all times are: 2 gallons of milk, reusable bottles of water, cheese, eggs, bacon, spaghetti sauce, leftovers, lots of in season…

Totally agree with the rewards system! Make sure it's not a food reward - kind of defeats the purpose. I have something set up for every 10 pound loss (mani/pedi, hair appointment, facial, etc). One thing to remember is that you are awesome. Each time you make a healthy choice is a victory. You can do this! :flowerforyou:

Don't lose hope and glad you are reaching out. Agree with other posters. Start small. Start slow. You will gain momentum. There are many people here who will cheer you with every step and every positive food choice. With every small victory, you will feel better - I promise you. You can do this!

Yah! Totally know what you mean. Grew up in Iowa. Peru (down by Winterset) is pronounced Pee Rue. Stuart was pronounced Stert. And yep on that too. Worked in Louisiana for a bit. A town north of Alexandria was spelled Natchichoches. It was pronounced Nak-O-Dees by the locals.

You are making great food choices. How is your water intake? I've been drinking a lot of water (mostly due to the heat wave) and I credit that with helping me recently lose weight. Don't stress too much about the weight loss this week. I have the same problem when I work out hard at the gym - it is so disappointing to see…

Wow! 6 months??? You look fantastic! I'm sure you feel as awesome as you look! Great job!

I used to have quinoa and oatmeal (equal amounts) with dates, raisins and walnuts. It was outstanding. Gotta start making that again.

Darn onion chopping ninjas are at it again..... Thank you both for posting - just wonderful!

Normally I try to drink as much plain water as possible. Once in a while, I get a hankering for the Crystal Light Mojito. It is delicious and refreshing. Crystal Light in moderation shouldn't be bad as with most things.

It's awesome that you are biking to work. When I rode my bike to school, it was about 3 miles each way. Fortunately, I went to work out at the rec center where there were showers and I got to clean up before going to class. If you don't have this option, it may be worth packing some hand towels (to wet and wipe yourself…

It's not a bad thing if you are consistent. My weight loss support group meets in the evening so I have to record an evening weight. I'm still losing weight despite the PM weigh-in. It's been a struggle - gained 15 pounds over my start weight and finally clawing my way back.

Maybe slowly transition to half & half? I used to drink a half cup of creamer with a half cup of coffee. Over time - I've made the change to half and half added to the coffee. Occasionally I'll have some stevia in it but it tastes great sans sweetener.

Don't beat yourself up over this. HR is a tough gig - you are the one who has to tell people they are fired/laid off/terminated. You have to deal with employees' issues such as harassment, performance issues, health insurance snafus, code of conduct, etc. The best HR managers I knew had a comfortable chair and a box of…

Totally understand your pain. The hubby is 6'7" with a 39" inseam and a Boeing 737 wingspan. It's nearly impossible to find clothes to fit him. I've found a few nice things online but cannot stand most of the tall men's clothing websites. They all have the same plaid patterns with the same unflattering cut. Not every tall…

It's doable depending on your start weight. A friend in my weight loss group lost 20 pounds in 3 months. She is your height but weighs quite a bit more. She logged her food (kept under her daily MFP goals) and did cardio 3 days per week. She allowed herself one cheat day but didn't go crazy on that day.

I really like Chris Powell. I have a couple of his books and "On Demand" his show when I need inspiration to get my fat butt to the gym. Extreme Weight Loss is a great show IMHO. No one gets voted off. I hate Biggest Loser because of the voting off issue. It seemed the people who need to stay in the program/on the show the…
