  • You look handsome no matter what ethnic origin people assume you are from.
  • Doh! Yes - you are right. I had a dyslexic moment. No omegas in coconut oil. Nonetheless, I'm still going to try and minimize eating fats which are solid at room temperature, including butter. (sigh.... butter....)
  • http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/fats-and-oils/508/2 Not sure why coconut oil is touted as so healthy. There are many more testimonials than clinical evidence on the benefits of coconut oil. It's a saturated fat (92%) and it's pro-inflammatory. Additionally, all of the fatty acid is Omega 6 - a lopsided ratio of Omega 6…
  • There is an alarmingly high amount of sodium in foods. A 6 inch turkey sandwich from Subway is 1000 mg sodium. This is 2/3 of my daily allotment (folks with BP issues should keep it under 1500 mg/day). It's hard to keep the Na under 2500 mg/day (daily recommended allowance for regular folk). It's sad to read a label and…
  • Never get your honey where you get your money.
  • What do you do during Ramadan if you are diabetic or hypoglycemic? Edited to add: Totally agree with the other posters to try and find a way to get out of the house sooner than later. Regardless of religion, she is a controlling person and it will be healthier to get away from that toxic behavior. I understand it will be…
  • Was just going to say the same. Strains, sprains and contusions take time to heal. Sometimes these things take up to 6 weeks. If you continue to have the same amount of pain for more than a week, it may be worth visiting the doctor. I just strained my left hip - it's not so bad that I can't stop working out but I'm sore.…
  • Actually distilled water is stripped of minerals normally found in "natural" water. The body will "extract" these minerals from your body. Also, distilled water loses it's pH buffering capacity. Because of this, carbon dioxide can be readily sorbed into the water causing the pH to dip below 7 which if you drink enough…
  • LOL! Power tools are so empowering - especially if they require a 480 power source.
  • I totally concur. Steel toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs and gloves at a bare minimum are suggested for the next demo session. Would not recommend this level of Personal Protective Equipment for the vibrator that most of us on this thread initially thought you were eluding to.
  • Slim Fast gave me room clearing gas. I've never touched any type of meal replacement drink since.

  • I love love love olives. Sadly, they have to be an occasional treat due to the sodium content.
  • ((hugs)) You are young and strong. Advances in cancer treatment have moved at the speed of light in the past decade. Many things are working in your favor to beat this.
  • Yep - I still watch their Live Aid performance on occasion. What an amazing singer.
  • Maybe I'm too cheap to pay for the surgery but it seems you are well on the path to losing 40-50 pounds by the end of this year. Is the money that you will spend on the surgery worth the possible additional 20 pounds that you will lose by the beginning of next year? Plus I'm personally nervous with any surgical procedure -…
  • Call me weird but there is something about Christoper Walken. David Guintoli from Grimm is a rather handsome fella.
  • ^^ this ^^ Bananas are amazing.

  • Consummate emotional eater here. I remember going through the Wendy's drive thru, parking in a dark lot, eating everything in the bag and crying. Food seems to fill the void in addition to the stomach. It's strange - I could probably eat a large combo with an even larger soda but not feel full afterwards. The triggers are…
  • What do you find inside a clean nose? Fingerprints How did Canada come up with it's name? Someone pulled a bunch of letters out of a hat - "C" eh? "N" eh? "D" eh? What do engineers use for birth control? Their personality That's pretty much my entire joke collection.
  • One think I've done with pre-packaged foods like Knorr noodles or Rice a Roni dishes - I've added a bunch of veggies or chicken and converted them into a kind of hot dish or casserole in a skillet on the stove top. You'll be stuck with the sodium but it's now stretched out from 2 servings to 6-8 servings. There may even be…
  • "What's my name!?!?! Say my name!!!! Thhhhhwwwwhhhhappp!!" (name the movie this quote is from) Is this something you are looking for? If yes, I'm good with this as long as I get to pick the stop word.
  • LOL! Little does your hubby know that he has a whole slew of women who have worked hard to achieve the thigh gap are giving him cyber-stink eye.
  • Eating healthier is less expensive for me. Fast food is expensive - oatmeal, eggs, apples, salad, and vegetables are cheaper. You can do a lot of exercise at home or outside. 30DS DVDs are $9 at Target or Walmart. Hand weights are under $20. Think of it this way, getting fit is a lot more cost effective than shelling out…
  • Absolutely pop away! I make a batch of kettle corn with coconut oil and a little organic sugar tossed in. ~250 calories per serving, zero sodium and it's such a tasty and filling snack.
  • Breakfast is my favorite meal. I have a couple of unsalted hard boiled eggs and a cup of coffee with half/half. It kicks starts my day and holds me over for 3 hours until my late morning snack. It's different for everyone.
  • I bring the written workouts that my trainer created for me. It doesn't matter what other people think about this. If they are paying attention to what you are doing, they aren't paying attention to their own workout and not accomplishing anything being at the gym.
  • Based on the weight loss tickers of the posters in this thread, many of you have achieved some amazing successes without surgery. Hats off to this group. People have suggested GB surgery for me but I am not sure if I could have made it through the psychological assessment - I'm the consummate emotional eater. Apparently…
  • Many false starts occur at the beginning of this race. Don't sweat it. There are plenty more opportunities for success.
  • Forgot to note that I didn't calculate the coconut rice into the recipe. The rice (about 4 servings assumed with the amount of uncooked jasmine rice) is 224 calories with 11 mg sodium. So - the rice and the thai chicken is just a tick above 500 calories per serving.
