Why not? Avocado is great at any meal.

Bacon Cottage cheese Yogurt Slice of cheese Turkey sausage One slice of thick cut bacon is only 80 calories (but 240 mg sodium). Just one slice helps me stave off the hunger until lunchtime. Wondering if it's the protein that seems to work for me. I've had a bowl of oatmeal with quinoa, walnuts, dates and raisins which was…

He isn't as amazing as you think he is. YOU are amazing. You are working your butt off to complete your PhD and you are a great individual. You are meant to do awesome things and make a positive impact in the world. :flowerforyou: (wish I could bold this paragraph) You will drive yourself nuts trying to figure out what…

Butter, without a doubt. We go through 4 pounds about every 2 weeks and we are still losing weight.

^^ this a million times. Don't have kids with him. Don't believe the promises - he will always break them. Don't think it gets better when he stops drinking - one can be a dry drunk like my dad. It was just as bad when dad wasn't drinking. The unpredictable life that comes with this addiction is so incredibly stressful.…

Not me but my parents' story - they met at at the NCO club on base in Seoul, Korea. Dad asked her what she wanted to eat and she said "ham and cheese" - apparently that was the only phrase in English she knew. When the priest asked if she would take this man to be her husband, she responded "ham and cheese". Her English…

What an awesome story! Love these!

LOL! You're not alone. I met my husband in a dance club which we later found out was a notorious gang hangout. We were both graduate students from the same uni who came in different groups. We only chatted briefly and danced a little. I tried to covertly (with stalking behavior) find out more about him through a mutual…

You may not be getting a lot of responses from your MFP because of your terrifying profile pic.

Considering you have a heart condition - I would not suggest getting advice from anyone else but your doctor. I take water pills but they are prescribed for my high blood pressure. There is nothing to be ashamed about having to take frequent breaks especially with your heart condition. Would also suggest talking to your…

Congrats on reaching your weekly goal!! :flowerforyou: I don't see a problem with a periodic food reward when you reach a goal - just suggest not making that a habit. I tried this a long time ago - I would reward myself with a DQ peanut buster parfait for every 5 pound loss. That didn't end well. Special events…

Holy smokies!!! What an amazing transformation!!! :flowerforyou:  :drinker:  Just fantastic. you = awesome.

You have friends and supporters here. If you need a group to back you in real life, I would suggest joining a group like TOPS or even Weight Watchers. Weekly meetings and weigh ins are great but the interaction with other people trying to lose weight like you may offset the negative feedback you get from home.

I bought 6 ($300) sessions with a personal trainer at my gym - she was great and the workouts were tough as nails. She showed me the right form to do the exercises correctly. Paying extra for nutritional guidance would be difficult for me to do - especially when there is a plethora of information online about eating plans…

Just got back from the doctor's office for a follow up visit. My A1C dropped from 8.4 to 6.9 over 9 months. My HDL is up and LDL is down. Triglycerides are down. My blood pressure went from 140/90 to 118/74. My doc took me off one medication and cut the amount of another medication. Apparently, I made my doctor's day.…

Nuts have a surprisingly high fiber content. Almonds have 14.10 grams of insoluble fiber per cup. Bran cereals are also a good source of fiber. Split peas and lentils are tasty sources of high fiber. Blackberries and raspberries are so delicious and fiber-ful. The following website has a pretty good list of foods and their…

^^this. Today was my "free to eat what I really crave" meal after weighing in at the support group. Still managed to keep the calories under my daily limit. Not a big fan of using the term "cheat" - are we really cheating when we keep under our caloric limit?
-
Definitely! If you deprive yourself of things that you enjoy long enough, it will come back to avenge itself through binging, followed by guilt and subsequently more binging. I've save room in my journal for a DQ ice cream cone with the kid at least once a week - not a big deal.
-
^^ I could deal with this.

One common denominator that virtually all dietary supplements or pills suggest is to take the pills in line with a healthy diet and exercise plan. Would suggest to the OP to continue with the course of eating right and moving more. No pill or supplement alone has ever worked for me.
-
Whoa! You are hitting that course like an Avenger! Awesome job! Thanks for sharing your success.

^^ this. If people are spending all their time gossiping, they aren't getting their work done. I choose not to participate in gossip - it interferes with productivity and I want to leave work on time to beat traffic. Edited to add the fact that I now work from home - no one here to talk to except for Gordon, my daughter's…

Great idea! I'm in. We eat salad at least 3 times per week at home. Below are 2 of our favorites. Each serving is about 300-400 calories. Cashew Pear Grape Salad Topping: 3/4 cup cashews 1 TBS butter, soft 1 TBS fresh rosemary 1 tsp curry powder 1 TBS brown sugar 1/2 tsp kosher salt 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper Dressing: 3 TBS…

Your "friend" seems more toxic than the ice cream.
-
You are young, eating at a deficit and working out hard. Please see your primary care provider asap. Most of us are not medical professionals and you need a checkup/diagnosis in real life.
-
Your daughter will be home soon. :flowerforyou: Give her huge hugs and ask about her first day at school. The ice cream will still be in the freezer but this day is your's and your daughter's.

Can't drink sugary sodas anymore - way to sweet. Had my former favorite Arby's french dip last week - it wasn't as good as I remembered. The 7-11 cheese stuffed Doritos have lost their appeal. Can't imagine eating BK tater tots anymore - they were so greasy the last time I tried them. I cut back on the fast food in the…

Once a day in the morning. Sodium intake causes huge variations for me so I try to track it closely. I officially log my weight once a week from my TOPS meetings on Thursdays.
