  • Use a foam roller on it and go to a chiropractor that does adjustments on more than just your back. My chiro adjusts literally everything.... and fixed my "old lady hip" injury in just a few adjustments! She's currently working on my knee now. I swear by chiros and to be honest, everyone should be seeing one pretty…
  • I am running a 10k this saturday (my sixth) and am currently training for a half marathon on May 31st! I'd be glad to add you and feel free to ask any questions you'd like about training. I've had to deal with injuries, slumps in workout regimen, etc too, so I'm not perfect, but I'm back and at it strong. One…
  • I have the fit bit flex... Love it!!! Keeps me motivated on my rest days to move a little more to hit my 10,000 step goal everyday. I also enjoy that it adjusts my calories at the end of the day and gives me a count for how many calories I burned. My best friend just got one as well and she really likes it as well.
  • Sorry to tell you this... You cannot sport reduce... all these workouts claim to cause spot reducing and it doesn't work. On my body my hips and upper back of the thighs are the last to lose fat, ALWAYS. Until I get to a certain body fat percentage, they don't start reducing. Believe me, I can run 7 miles in an hour flat,…
  • Way to go! I came across this topic about a year ago and started utilizing it because I was sick of eating 1500 calories. While I was at my goal weight, I was not happy that I could barely eat anything and when I started eating more, I gained some pounds, but my pants all still fit roughly around the same. Like Amy, I…
  • It sounds like we have a Dr. Oz on our hands..... Eesh!!! I would take everything he said and throw it out the window personally. I usually eat about 40c/30f/30p. Works for me.
  • All great ideas! Thanks!!!
  • You go to your settings and change your diary settings.
  • Any chance you could open your diary? I hear you about having a relapse. I'd been diagnosed with depression and until then I hadn't fully recognized that my lower body gaining had been because I was eating way too many bad things and didn't log them out of shame. I'm getting better about it now because now I'm trying to…
  • I eat if i'm hungry always, or have some tea before bed, if I start to get a bit hungry before bed. Your brain often confuses thirst for hunger too. If the tea doesn't do it, I have a very small snack before bed.
  • How much is a body media fit? Is it more accurate that a typical HRM? I was told mine was the top of the line for accuracy, but I'd hate to be under or over eating. I'm sure I'm more under than over eating at this point in time though.
  • Thanks! I use a chest belt HRM- not a machine calorie counter to base off my calories. I tried to make sure I bought one that was the most accurate. I usually run anywhere from 3-8 miles or body pump, which is an hour long bar bell class. I usually work out for an hour or hour and a half 5-6 days a week. I tend to push…
  • Thanks for the input, I wear a HRM to keep track of my burns, but yes, I usually am between that range of burn on workout days. I checked out the TDEE calculator from that website you put on and it's saying 2291 for TDEE-10% and maintain at 2500. Wow!!! Definitely undereating if that's the case. I'll start at 2000 for a…
  • This may seem like a silly question, but what is a re-feed day?
  • Depending on how much you workout, I always say 1500-1700 is a good number and eat back at least half your exercise calories. I tries to put me at 1600 and I can't do it any more. I'm constantly hungry and you don't live a happy life that way. It's okay to set your MFP to 1 lb of loss a week because the slower you lose,…
  • Thanks everyone! I feel a little better about bumping up now. I've been wondering if my plateauing was due to eating too little for how hard I workout. I'm more interested in losing inches at this point rather than weight, but I know the weight will come off... just really slowly at this point, which is okay. :) I only had…
  • ^^^^ THIS!! I don't much like veggies (aside from raw cauliflower and steamed asparagus) and I love using kale or spinach- 1 cup, 1 cup almond milk or skim milk, 1 banana, 1 scoop unflavored protein powder, and some cinnamon (cinnamon makes for a GREAT appetite suppressant). It tastes delicious and aside from the green…
  • Just starting the pill is a tricky first month if you want to weigh yourself. I'd personally not weigh yourself until a few days after your next full period. When I first went on the pill I remember I had a period, then spotted for a whole month, then a regular period again and THEN everything regulated itself out. Not…
  • I will either bring stuff to work or I'll freeze it in single packages so I can grab and go too and don't have to worry about them going bad.
  • When I am running with my running partner, I do not run with music because we chat as we run usually unless we are doing 8 min mile splits or less because we both cannot keep a conversation going at that point. However, when I'm on a treadmill, I HAVE to run with music because it is so boring. Also, I almost always run…
  • I actually use a method that I like to call graze which keeps me from never getting too hungry. Usually my breakfast is something like overnight oats, eggs, cereal... something of that idea. My before lunch snack is usually two lower calorie items but with an hour spaced between. Today it was a banana oatmeal muffin (three…
  • I'm 5'3", but I have a naturally muscular and curvy body. I've been down as low as 125 when I was in high school and looked like I was starving. Ideally, I'd love to get down to 135lbs, but have never been below 140 since my freshman year of college (I'm 24 now). HOWEVER, though my weight is so much higher than most, I…
  • Hi Sarah, What I do is I drink while I eat and snack. I eat 5-6 small meals a day so that helps with getting the water in. I take a drink almost every other bite, while it seemed silly when I first started doing it a couple years ago, it's now a habit. I'm known for going through 3-4 glasses of water during one larger…
  • If you're doing cardio regularly then add in two days of strength training (I do body pump at my local Y two days a week and it's killer). My body fat went down from 23% to 20.7% in two months after adding in two days of weight training, but of course you need to make sure you don't do two days of weight lifting in a row.…
  • Well my photos didn't add but you can look onto my profile and see them. I really suck at this photo adding business lol. My current profile pic is my 142lbs pic.
  • I started at 162 lbs and I'm 5'3" when I was sick of barely fitting into my dress pants and I took a couple of photos of then I have more recent photos of me at 142lbs now. How I lost the weight and toned: slow and steady and I set a lot of fitness goals. I workout 5-6 days a week with two days weight lifting/strength…
  • For running and kick boxing I use Asics Kayano 19. For weight lifting I wear my minimalistic Merrells. Same shoes I hike in actually :)
  • One thing I did to get myself into running shape was I started running intervals. 2 min walk, 2 min jog, 1 min sprint, 2 min jog, 2 min walk. Gives your body time to recover and then you make it sweat all over again. I did this to prep for the obstacle 5k Warrior Dash in which I ran solo in about 38 minutes. The point I…
