I'm 56 and I've been alternating days with 60 minutes of interval training on an elliptical with days of a 60 minute kettlebell workout. My weight loss plan (and I agree with the posters above who pointed out that weight loss is really about your diet) has me at a projected 1 lb a week loss. I don't eat back hardly any of…

Tizz, yes, my cath incision hurt for a while--seemed like at least a couple of weeks. I think it was more from what happened hours after the stent went in. They used a lot of pressure for about 30 minutes to make sure the leg artery sealed up when they pulled out the sheath the cath goes into. Maybe you're experiencing a…

Tizzz, yes, by all means friend me. And I think walking is a great thing to be doing if that's OK for you to manage right now. On days where I'm not doing rehab or some other more heavy exercise, walking is what I do. But if you can get to some cardiac rehab, they might have other things that can work for you given your…

From what I've heard from the docs, the biggest worry with the stent is that it'll get clogged up and the biggest risk of that is in the first year. But the Plavix they put us on prevents that; if you got a drug-coated stent that helps as well. The feeling I got is if we take our Plavix religiously and get out of the first…

Got my stent late in July, also in the LAD following an attack (actually literally 20 minutes after the attack happened). So get your doc to get you a nutrition consultant. The doc will probably give you targets for fat and sodium, etc., but the nutritionist can give you practical advice on how to meet those targets. MFP…

Yes, yes. All good points. But I think that giving a person a reason to avoid fruit without really looking at the specifics may be a disservice. Before you go headhunting the fresh fruit intake you've got to make sure you've cut out the other sources of sugar. And in the diary in question, a large percentage of the sugar…

Hmmm. But her real goal is lose weight, no? I think she's making the *assumption* that the problem is sugar, and that eating fruit contributes to that. But like most folks say, if you're really running a calorie deficit, then you'll lose weight no matter how much sugar you get. Of course, you might not be in the best shape…

I too have had trouble with snacking while cooking dinner--lots of trouble! I used to be constantly after cheese, crackers, etc. What I try to do to fight this is to allow myself to snack on things that won't be bad for me. So I'll grab some baby carrots, or a celery stalk or two, etc.--something along those lines to try…

My story is similar to KCRunnerSteve's, except I've never been in shape enough to run a marathon. But it sounds like we had the same kind of attack. On 7/25/12 I had just finished a lunchtime workout on the elliptical (36 minutes at max heart rate) and had just started my cool down when I felt chest pains. I hoped it was…

I think if the liquid in question has caffeine, you've got to be careful counting it as water since caffeine is a diuretic. At least that's what a dietitian I know has cautioned me.
