OOps...a piece of information that is left out...my counter thingie does not reflect how much I want to lose total...it reflects how far to my next goal. I am nowhere near my goal weight. :( I understand and appreciate your feedback though. Any other ideas? :)

Nifty idea! thank you!

Thank you to you both! I already have the elbow strap, and I have used it successfully on my left elbow, but my right seems to be much worse and hurts in a few places. I'm going to take the lifting advice to the trainer in my office gym to get it translated from weightlifter-speak to geekspeak (I'm a geek), and hopefully…

I'd like to join...I also need to know how to post pictures and properly size them.

Love it! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your replies!

Thank you so much for this! I may be getting the FT4. I appreciate the help!

Funny...this is a bit disillusioning for me. I'm 5'5", and 3.3 mph is as fast as I can walk. Today I had to slow down and walk longer instead, because I had pain in my lower legs and in my right hip bursa joint. I can't imagine ever getting past 3.5 mph. Granted, I can swim 34 laps (although it takes me about 50 minutes).…

I met my husband at an adult sci-fi/fantasy convention, purely by accident. He made a conscious decision after his divorce that he would put himself in situations he'd previously not experienced, such as conventions, cuddle parties, meetups, etc. He met a lot of nice people that way, and he met me. :) I wish you the best…

My main issue with Slimquick is remembering to take it, so I have no clue if it would have done anything for me or not. Honestly, to me losing without medicinal intervention is likely to encourage longer lasting results. Try maybe increasing your fiber and protein to help curb appetite? Sometimes I'll pop an 8 calorie…

You are smart to be starting this now, as opposed to ten years from now. My mom has always said, when it pertains to a goal like going back to school or weight loss, that the same amount of time will pass whether you take action or not, so why not take the action now and be ahead of the game rather than waiting until…

This is awesome advice. As I was reading your post, and this, I recalled back when I was almost 300 pounds several years ago. And then I remembered 3+ months ago when I started doing this the healthy way. Even at only 268 pounds, I was in pain all the time and could barely move -- it was compounded with low back compressed…

Restaurant serving sizes can be crazy. My husband and I ordered Seafood Trio at Provinos Italian Restaurant last week. They were really nice and split it on two plates for us, so that cut the serving calories to about 500 cals each. Of course, after eating a bunch of salad and a couple rolls, we were only able to finish…

I use Fat Free Redi Whip. It's 1/4th the calories of regular whipped cream at 5 calories per 2 tbsp. And it tastes good...I use it on berries as a dessert or snack.

Morningstar Farms makes a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit which is really good. I don't like the bacon version much, but their veggie sausage is really good. It is 270 calories, and thaws/heats in the microwave in 45-52 seconds. I bring them to my office and eat one for breakfast when I get here about 2-3 mornings a week.

What I've learned over the years is I have to eat BALANCED. I can eat complex carbs just fine as long as I don't eat them alone. A couple of docs explained that balancing the carbs with proteins and fats helps slow down the process of digesting, which in turn reduces your pancreas releasing large, sudden amounts of insulin…

It really did not occur to me that Cymbalta might contribute to weight gain. Although it should have I suppose, since anything related to seratonin can impact individuals differently in terms of loss/gain. However, I agree with the poster who said that you can lose weight despite side effects of these drugs. I was on 60mgs…

Honestly, I see the problem here. The fact is that being overweight or obese is a major contributing factor to most illnesses and diseases. However, sometimes weight is NOT the cause or contributor, and it would be nice if doctors would listen to all the facts and investigate enough to ensure their assessments are really…

My husband grabbed my butt/hip last night as he walked by me. He said, "awww...there's not as much to grab anymore!" I replied, "maybe not, but what's there has muscle now!" He said that would work just fine, and that he was proud of me. :)

1. My shirt fits instead of being too tight. I don't have to wear my jacket closed over it. 2. I realized I'm in significantly less pain than I was three months ago before I started this. I have Fibromyalgia, and I simply don't hurt as much.

Thank you, everyone! That is so incredibly helpful, and makes my life MUCH easier! I really appreciate your help!

...people coming to the pool and just messing around in it. I'm not talking about the neighborhood pool. I'm talking about the lap pool at the gym. I'll be swimming laps, and a bunch of teenages come in and use lanes to race and splash at each other, including lanes people are already in. I have no problem sharing a lane,…

A friend of mine once gave me excellent advice. She said, "if you really want something, then eat it. Otherwise, you'll eat a bunch of other stuff you didn't really want in order to distract yourself, and then likely eat whatever it was you wanted anyway." She advised me that if I want something, eat it, but in moderation.…

I'm confused on one point...the general principle is you have to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight. MFP started me at 1360 per day, then I lost 21 pounds in about 2.5 months, and now I'm on 1200 a day. I exercise pretty much daily, and eat back anywhere from 2/3 to all of the exercise calories. Over the…

So if I'm swimming laps as follows 5-6 days a week: - 6 breast stroke - 6 free style - 6 backstroke (both arms at once) - 6 backstroke (regular) - 4 kicking back and forth - 2 breast stroke (for cooldown) ...am I in danger of stalling? Or is that enough variety of movement to prevent that? I'm adding laps as I increase in…

It's hard to swim year-round without going to a gym of some sort. I can certainly see the concern with the equipment. I find it kind of nifty that grocery stores have started putting antiseptic wipes near the carts so you can clean them before you use them. Gyms should do that too. Where I go, people do at least generally…
