Works also without the peanut butter and even without the chocolate. Just bananas. Tastes like mashed bananas except that when it's frozen, it tastes much more like ice cream. And by the way, simply don't expect a particular taste, it's a delicious healthy creamy dessert. It will also work with lots of other fruits, so I…

Sorry I can't really answer the question for a probiotic drink, unless Activa is one (but I never buy it, isn't it terribly sweet?) ... Just another useless little bit of advice on the side,... I was suspected of a mild form of IBS for years. They even suspected a gluten allergy for a while, but that turned out to be not…

Bump Can't agree more. On a similar note on the opposition to 'processed' food: We are equipped by nature with a 32 piece internal food processor called our teeth, because without chopping it up and softening it a bit with saliva enzymes, a lot of food would be indigestible.

Unbelievable that this hasn't got any answers yet. A) cleansing drink: water. B) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/821828-detoxes-and-cleanses http://sciencebasedpharmacy.wordpress.com/2013/01/04/the-detox-delusion/

Of course a calorie is not a calorie. Well it is, but not as far as your body goes, obviously. A calorie is the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 kelvin at standard atmospheric pressure. And what we count as calories when we talk food are usually kilocalories. Coal has a relatively high…

Have a Look here: http://www.kidney.org.au/KidneyDisease/Drinkwaterinstead/tabid/703/Default.aspx To try to distill some points from this, by far not all: - there is no set amount. You need to replace the fluid that your body loses per day. More will be excreted as extra urine. You can need more fluid if you exercise, if…

Where can one have that done? In Australia? In Melbourne? What does it cost?

I eat an apple a day, sometimes two or three, sometimes nothing else, sometimes a dinner of only vegetables afterwards. It certainly does not result in increased defecation, if that's what 'colon cleansing' is. Aha. http://www.trickortreatment.com/ Sounds a lot like the 'lemon detox master cleanse' originally designed by…

I wake up, drink water, go to work as normal, survive the day on water, black coffee and black or green tea, sometimes with a stevia sweetener, sometimes with a little milk and then sometimes not. I usually get hungry at lunchtime and again at 2 and again at 7, but it goes away each time, and energy levels are great and I…

What do you mean by 'body cleanse'? Yes I do shower every day at least once, but not for 24 hours ever. 3 minutes is recommended here.  Ok, or do you mean what other people are calling 'detox' here and still other people slam as utter nonsense? (me, to be honest, included). Or do you simply mean a combination…

All their calorie counts on their website are only true if you order a sub without cheese or dressing. And that's quite unusual, so I was told by an employee once. The turkey one is one of the best ones in that regard. Choose what vegetables/salad you like. Here in Au, you don't even need to go to the website, the calories…

Thread is 2 weeks old, sorry. More precisely: walking helps, and running helps more. Ask people who have to use a wheelchair. Running is very effective; apparently, when the intestine gets shaken a little, it gets going. Google "running" and "urge to defecate" together, makes for some very amusing reading. I just thought…

No, simply not for me. My job requires a high level of concentration and I am not in any way less alert or less productive or less able to concentrate when I don't eat breakfast than when I do. In fact, when I have lunch at 12, It can happen that I get sleepy at 2, which doesn't happen if I skip lunch. I absolutely respect…

Hello, Thanks. My diary is open to friends. Exercise -- I'm forbidden to run or even walk too much, can only swim in moderation, I did cycle 100km in the week that my blood. Was taken and generally did some similar cycling all January. Oh the times when I will be able to run again! Carbs -- I have had instructions by my GP…

Hello hgj66, Oh, something else I was wondering while I couldn't access the forum today. Cholesterol is high, 7 - that's some calculated value out of. HDL and LDL which they want to be under 5.5? What's your HDL? The ratio Cholesterol : HDL is a more sensitive risk predictor where Triglycerides and HDL are affected, said…

Hm, so, the general wisdom is: Oatmeal. Oat bran, rolled oats, porridge. Allegedly one bowl of it per day can help lower your LDL cholesterol. Then a diet generally high in soluble fibre - handful of walnuts; apples; etc.... This is the general wisdom, unfortunately I can't yet tell you the results of the experiment yet.…

The idea that breakfast jump starts your metabolism is yet another diet myth. http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html http://yourdoctorsorders.com/2011/10/breakfast-myths/ I am just not hungry in the mornings. It's the idea of dieting that at the very least you don't eat when you are not…

To revive an old thread.... I have done alternate day fasting all through January. I now had my blood checked. "bad" cholesterol is still a bit high. "good" cholesterol is also high, making the overall picture still not bad. But why is my "bad" cholesterol high? Obviously IF is not a silver bullet either....

Australia: Almond milk is available in all supermarkets, so, usually, is wheat free and gluten free bread. 'gluten free' is a label that I see a bit more often than 'wheat free'. Germany: there are excellent organic food shops -Bioläden - try them.

Hello, Thanks for the post and the maths. I find it a bit sad that there are so few responses. I think the problem is that this is really unusual. I'd like to make it a question - how many on MFP have a recommendation of eating 2000 calories per day or more? For most, it seems to be under 1400, and I personally am a bit…

Thanks for asking! I have done intermittent fasting twice in my life. I always did it to mean: eat only every other day. Fast the days in between. The first time I did it when I was 18 and sick of being overweight. I lost 13.5 kg in about 10 weeks. I stopped it because I was down to normal weight and started to feel…

I disagree. It may be just me, but... See my post above: 100g apple, 10g sugar, or so. When I eat 10g refined sugar in, say, pastry, or with fat, it makes me crave more. The theory is: insulin levels up, sugar stored as fat, more hunger.... When I eat said apple, I am full, quite totally, no craving for more. No, it keeps…

I nearly always go over. Some days I almost only live on milk and apples. Both are foods that contain the wrong sugar:calorie ratio and so, bang, the sugar is way too high. I ignore it. They should classify the sugars into natural occurring sugars and added sugars, and also by different sugars - a.small 100g apple has…

I have had a short look at your diary. It doesn't look all that bad, but if you are still hungry, I guess: try replacing some of the more processed, high carb-and-fat foods if there are any with lots of vegetables, fruit, fiber, and some measured proteins. If you feel famished, maybe your body is missing proteins. Apples…

@TineeLambrini who can't stand broccoli and cauliflower: You're missing Out. Of Course they are bland by themselves. Start yourself on them in a way that it's definitely less healthy, but tasty... Try broccoli with a nice sauce. Or like this: - fry one large onion until translucent - add 500g diced broccoli and fry/simmer…

Wow. A pound of strawberries for only $4? And there is a McDonald's menu item for $1? Easy to tell that you can't possibly live in Australia... Strawberries here: usually $3 per 250g, at more than that, I don't buy them, but many people do. McDonald's here: I don't buy there and don't know exactly but don't think you will…

I started MFP when I was diagnosed with degenerative tendinosis of the hamstrings and forbidden to run for months if not a year. I didn't know how I would hold my weight being unable to do sports, so I wanted to count calories. From my progress you might see that The weight that I want to come down from is not very high,…

Hello Carlz mrswazza, Your post says you have not lost any weight, in fact gained 2 pounds, but your progress indicator says you have lost 4 pounds, what is it? Then I also find it hard to judge without knowing your total weight, and what your calorie intake was before. If you are fairly overweight and switch from eating…

Many people have said something about sugar replacements. Maybe experiment and try a good mix -- different sugar substitutes. There are a stevia mixes. Aspartame drinks, and Xylite is supposed to be good for your teeth, while apparently Isomalt is the one with the diarrhoea... Try a combination, and maybe even allow…

Hi bmi20SEwelcome here! I take it you are about 73-75 with a goal weight of 58? And still breast feeding a 5 month old child? Congratulations on both your kids. I was about the same weight while nursing my son. They say that during that time you shouldn't force losing weight. Some mothers naturally do, some don't. If your…
