  • It's emotional eating. Most of us experience it some shape or form. Just be conscious of it and realize that even with the back trouble you can still control yourself. I'm a stress eater. At the first sign of a problem I want to run to the fridge and cram my mouth full of cheescake or something. I was raised in the South…
  • I had it done at my university in the fitness center. You might try a local University if you have one. Otherwise I would try a gym, or a wellness center of some kind. You might even try asking a doctor's office. Of course there's always the search the internet option. I wish I could be of more help but I was just…
  • The assessment just required me to lay still for about 15 minutes while they had a mask over my face (similar to an oxygen mask only bigger and more annoying) that measured my oxygen intake and outake. <--- is that a word?..... Nothing invasive or bad it was really easy, I almost fell asleep while I was laying there.…
  • I thought I would post what happened to me in light of reading THE answers to THE questions post. Maybe it wil help. I went for a Metabolic Assessment last Friday. It is a medical grade test that let's you know what your BMR is (resting and active) and what your redzone (starvation mode) is etc. Mine was VERY different…
  • You might try getting a metabolic assesment. I"m getting one tomorrow and it tells you exactly where you should be calorie wise to either lose, mantain or stay out of starvation mode. You may have to call around to find where you can get it done. I'm getting it done at my college. You might try a local college if you have…
  • Wow, that's incredible!! I hope I can say that too by the end of the year! YOU GO!!!!! You big loser!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • I believe you can find a place in your area to have it done. It's simply called Metabolic Assesment and here are some detials about it. Most people have no idea what their metabolism really is or how it works; and more importantly, that it can be trained to function at a higher level. Can you answer the following…
  • Hi everybody, I hope Spring Break was good or IS good now for everyone! Mine was a fun experience and very eye opening. Apparently my body has really changed. My first experience of spring break was to leave for the airport in St. Louis. I had pretty much planned to not worry about my diet and just enjoy the week...... so…
  • 22 down! I've never felt so great about losing weight. I love everyone and this place. It's so good to see all the success and encouragement! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • Thanks Steve. I agree with all of it and especially #3. I see so many people getting frustrated because it isn't happening fast enough. We just have to keep plugging away at it day by day that's all. You guys have a great week and great spring break, I"m off to Texas to see the fam! :flowerforyou:
  • Swimming - 37 minutes - 772 calories breast stroke treading water, fast, vigorous freestyle, fast vigorous
  • I love peabut butter and I HATE that it's so high in calories!!! I could eat it three times a day!
  • OH MY GOSH BECKY!!! LOOK AT MY PUMPKIN CAKE!!! I made these tongiht for dinner, well......... I didn't make them into muffins I just put it into a 9 X 9 glass dish and then cut it into squares but WOW!!!! These are delicious!!!! And I"m not even a pumpkin girl. Like I don't eat pumkin pie or anything. Thanks so MUCH for…
  • You really don't need a gallon of water. More is not always better. There is a condition you can get from having too much water. Even the 8/8 oz glasses has been proven to be inacurate but I won't get into that. 8/8 oz. glasses is plenty though.
  • Thanks for the good wishes! :flowerforyou: Mary and Karen I'll take your questions with me and will get back to you. It will be after spring break though. One thing Karen... my claories are set at 1670. I think it depends on body weight and age with a minimum of 1200. I will be sure and get the scoop though!
  • The good news is I don't have a tumor or cancer in my shoulder. Don't have a name for it yet but hopefully I'll be around for a few more years since its nothing terminal. I do also have some lower back pain that I saw the Doc for today and one thing he's having me do is go to physical therapy and see a nutritionist for…
  • thanks. I don't plan on falling completely off the wagon. I may just not work so hard to "lose" for a few weeks. Greasy and sugary meals make me sick now anyways and I would hate myself for gaining. I have to say I'm completely freaked out this morning. I'm trying to hard not to just break down in tears. It's so surreal.…
  • One recommendation... I found a fablulous recipe for ranch dressing on the recipe board and believe it or not it is actually good! I am a serious cottage chees hater. Like I can't stand it at all! But I tried the dang recipe anyways.... and it was GOOD!!! 16oz. of cottage cheese, 8 oz. buttermilk and a package of ranch…

  • I'll be really honest fuzzbuzz, I think you're bordering the edges of an eating disorder. Your profile says that you want to stop being the "chubby" one in the room. With only 15 pounds to lose you can't possibly have looked "chubby" EVER. I'm pretty sure your self image is a little skewed. And even right now your saying…
  • So here's the scenario. I've quit smoking, started college, I"m a mother of two teenagers, significant other to a wonderful man, and started my weightloss journey including exercise all in the last year. Well the teenagers have been growing for a while but you know what I mean. Yesterday I go to the doctor because my left…
  • Wow, I love the exercise calculator on bodybuilding.com! Thanks for posting this!
  • Thanks so much!!! That's great! :flowerforyou:
  • I'm so glad to see this in writing!!! I"ve been practicing a lot of this I just thought I was being a rebel. But I decided if I were going to live this way the rest of my life I had to be able to live with choices that made me happy and not feeling deprived!!! I eat chocolate everyday btw and I"m still losing weight!…
  • It's hard for me too.... I get to the end of the day and I always want to save a bunch of calories, but it just doesn't work that way! If you watched Big Loser you saw that the black team didn't start losing weight until they started eating. We just have to eat the right things! You can DO IT!!! :flowerforyou:…
  • Today I burnt 415 calories swimming!
  • That's interesting because I've never heard of this and yet I'm kind of doing that anyways. I can honestly say that with almost every meal I have one of those 4 things.... hmmmm
  • Pickles are the lowest I've found. 1 cup = 26 calories. I keep one of those huge gallon jugs of the giant pickles around.
  • Thanks hmmmmm I appreciate the comments! Everyone else, WEIGH TO GO!! ooorabbittooo: The best tip I could give you is just to hang out here. This is the best place in the world for support and friendship for this journey! Just watch your calories and don't try to eat "too few". One of the hardest lessons to learn is that…
  • WEIGH TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!! :flowerforyou: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :flowerforyou:
  • In our house "I" was the one that always wanted big heavy greasy meals so maybe I can help from a kind of backwards perspective. I have learned that I can still make some really good meals that I love by just changing a few of the ingredients. For instance.... we all love chicken and dumplings, so instead of boiling a big…
