Seems to be faily inactive, but every once in a while someone posts something. I joined the group a little while ago hoping to see more.

Hi. This is my first UAC challenge and I'm looking forward to it. I want to jump off the plateau I've been on for a while. Been struggling with hip issue but usually walk every day, either with or without the dog.

Obviously your levels were off the charts since they calculated your new dosage incorrectly. Don't know how bad you are feeling and if you feel you could hold out till Monday. You could wait until Monday and get your new instructions from the doctor. Or, you could probably safely add the extra pill back in, but as I'm not…

I too was diagnosed with hip bursitis in June. Was put on heavy anti-inflammatory and told to rest it. I've been trying to patiently wait it out and find other exercises without belonging to a gym that won't aggravate it. Went to try a light run/walk interval set the other day and it is not better yet! I didn't really…

I too was diagnosed as "off the charts hyperthyroid"/Graves Disease along with Hashimotos in 2008. I was not sure how long I had the disease before it was caught, but probably for quite a while as my syptoms were severe by the time I was diagnosed. Before I developed Graves, I used to work out fairly regularly and ate…

Running (in combo with strength training) has always worked for me -- before thyroid issues -- and has helped me since I became overweight after RAI to treat my hyperthyroid. Now I'm hypothyroid and it took a while to get the meds adjusted. Started really working out and losing some of the weight. Started running againg…

Wow. I wouldn't even dream of hazarding a guess and would recommend you go to the doctor ASAP. I wouldn't think that if you still followed the rest of the directions (take on an empty stomach and not in combination with other vitamins that prohibit absorption) that the meds would work about the same, but you never know. I…

Agree with maracuya23. Ask for a referral to an endo and keep pushing for tests for T4 and T3. I don't believe that 5.4 is "just outside the normal range." I just went for a followup with my endo who said normal range ran to 2.5. (I believe the "normal" range has been ajusted in the not too distant past). At the top of…

I urge both of you to push with your doctors to have them test your T3 in addition to the T4 and TSH tests. It is a more expensive test so the docs usually don't order it, but if you are both constantly having your throid medication upped and the numbers are not changing, then you may also need a T3 medication in addition…

Looks positively delicious. Thanks for sharing. Will have to try and look at your blog for other great recipes as well.

Like Syriene, I have seen most folks state they feel the best when in and around a TSH of 1. I find doing cardio and weight training to be effective for me to lose weight in addition to watching what I eat. Diet alone doesn't move the scale much for me. Since you stated that you are exercising and watching your food…

What levels are being tested by your doctor? Just TSH and/or T4? I would ask the doctor to test your T3 levels as well to make sure your body is appropriately converting the T4 into T3. After being in a plateau for over a month and a half, I raised my calorie intake by 200 calories and stopped exercise for a week (timed…

Cathyg321, Your doctor is likely running the normal TSH test. This test is not really a thryoid function test; it is a pituitary gland test (which controls the thyroid and is usually a good indicator of thryoid function, but is not always accurate). This is usually used by most doctors because it gives a baseline test.…

Hi Ladies, I have had hypothyroidism since March 2009 after first having hyperthyroid. The endocrinologist had to kill off at least part of my thyroid, so I'll be hypothyroid the rest of my life. The good news is diet and exercise will make a difference for all of us. I look forward to supporting each other as well.

Amazing success story and a true inspiration for the rest of us! Thanks for sharing your great news!

Bumping to read the calculator/save the calculator.

PaulVanda, I'm not sure I would call myself a real runner (compared to my hubby who has run marathons). I now have Hypothyroidism following a severe bout of hyperthyroidism and Hashimotos thyroiditis. I do run a little (usually 2-3 miles at a time) and have come to somewhat enjoy it again. My transition from overactive to…

I'm on MFP everyday since I began in Sep 2012, but I don't always look at the message boards or I certainly don't post everyday. I do try to provide supportive comments to those on my friends list. I noticed you are friends with several of my friends. Feel free to add me.
