  • I have done this a lot and it definitely helps me. Also less moving around and waking up everyone else in the house.
  • I used to have to work at 5:15 sometimes and my YMCA opens at 5:30 so if I don't think I will be able to get up. If I think I'll hit that snooze button to many times. I fall asleep with a light on in my room or the tv on. That way when the alarm sounds it isn't pitch black like usual. To me it just seems easier to jump up…
  • There are some out there that you can wear in the pool but they usually will specifically say for swimming or give you a depth of how far you can take it down. I wouldn't wear one that just says water resistant. That would indicate more that it would be safe if you were running in the rain.
  • I'm about to start the 30 day Shred today. What results are people seeing half way through the program?
  • What I have planned are different workout classes or videos. These classes focus on more strength training then cardio so I also schedule in cardio as well. I take boxing or kick boxing classes when it fits with my schedule. I am starting the 30 day shred today as well so that will be 20-30 mins everyday. When I can't do…
  • I'm in! This falls perfectly with my work's Biggest Loser contest. Our last day is right before Spring Break so this goes one extra week then my work does. I have to weigh-in on Friday's at work too. I am using up all my groupons I have been collecting. I started Boxing two days ago and I have an unlimited amount of…
  • Is that true? I didn't know you were suppose to eat within an hour of working out.
  • One of my friends was throwing out a bunch of jeans. I grabbed them up real quick. They are all different sizes but all smaller than what I am now. So now I have jeans to try on without having to go spend the money!! Hopefully I actually get into some of these jeans eventually!
  • Welcome to MFP!
  • Lets try this.... Me at 228pds Me at 182pds
  • How do you post pics in a message board? I have pics in my profile of when I was 228pds and now pics of where I am bouncing around between 182-190pds. I am 5'8 1/2. I have a pic of me in a swim suit from this past August. I haven't let anyone take a pic of me in a swim suit since probably 10 years ago!
  • It is extremely important to include strength training in your workout routine. As you build muscle your body becomes more tone, your metabolism will increase, and it will be easier for your body to burn the calories. After two months of working out and sticking to my 1200 calorie days I let go one week just a bit and…
  • Welcome to MFP!
  • Just make sure that you are getting a minimum of 1200 calories a day after your work out. You don't want to put your body into starvation mode.
  • This was extremely helpful. Thank you!!
  • Does everyone just wear the HRM's when they work out or can they work like a BodyBugg and where it all day? How are the results for the people that have tried wearing them all day long?
  • Every calorie counts but if you need to munch on something try things that are super low in calories like carrots or celery. They are filling and have very low calories.
  • I completely agree. I am on MFP all the time and I have forgotten to check FB several times where I will go a day or two without checking FB. I find the message boards on here to be so informative and motivating.
  • I was just thinking the same thing. I was looking at their website and I am just lost. I don't have a regular workout routine but I want something that would be useful to me overtime with the expectations that my workouts will become more regular and more intense.
  • A great tool to have instead of a flimsy tape measure is the MyoTape. It is pretty cheap and it is what my personal trainer uses. It is great because it locks in place so you can see the measurement after you take it away from your body.
  • Welcome! My best advice is to join a group with a common goal. There are plenty of different types and it really motivates you to have to check in each week!

  • I just posted this in a different message board that was talking about doing a correct pushup. Figure people in this challenge would find the post interesting as well. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/131629-real-pushups-vs-fake-ones-af-fa The PE department at the middle school I work for recently got a number of…
  • The PE department at the middle school I work for recently got a number of these devices. http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Pushup-PA6301-Counter/dp/B001O0F98S They are call the perfect pushup. You basically have to lower yourself down far enough to have your chest push against the top of the device for it to count each pushup.
  • I have been bouncing around between 181-191 for the past 7 months because I just got lazy and now I am trying to get back in the swing of things. I'm trying to find that motivation too. Feel free to "friend" me we could check in with each other if you want.
  • Doing chest presses and pushups will make sure they stay perky. You can do chest presses with a machine or laying on a balance/bosu ball using dumb bells. You are going to loose weight in the chest because they are mostly made of fat. But the biggest concern would be to strengthen the muscles so that way they don't droop.
  • Welcome! MFP is a great tool to reach your goals!
  • If you are looking to just satisfy the motion of eating munch on baby carrots or celery. Calories are low but you are still eating. Also if you feel like you are starving and you have your calories set to lose 2 pds a week change it to 1 pound a week to start off so you get some extra calories. If you burn yourself out in…
  • It is like the freshman 15 in college for me. Whenever I am single I workout and lose weight but as soon as I get into a relationship I get comfortable and gain weight. The weight gain is mainly because I'm going out to restaurants more or eating side by side to a guy where I forget about my portion sizes. One relationship…
  • Welcome to MFP! It is a great tool and you get great motivation from the friends you make on here.
  • The one section I love the most about MFP is the success stories on the message boards. I look at all these people that have reach there goal or are on their way to it. I love looking at the pics and I think, if they did it I can do it too. I want to be someone that can post my before and after photos and be proud! I also…
