What a great post!! You've got a real "keeper" there and so does he. It's really wonderful to have that kind of loving support and you totally deserve to be treated with respect, which it sounds like he does. Tell him to keep up the good work and make sure to appreciate each other every day. Congrats on your success!

Congrats to both you and your lovely wife!! You guys are making amazing progress...together! I am so blessed to have a friend here at work too who introduced me to MFP. She has lost well over 130 lbs and really inspired me to get busy changing my life. I started almost exactly 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I am also…

I agree with what others have posted about setting new goals for yourself, beyond the scale. However, I would add that since you are in control of your weight and goals, why not try maintaining for a set period of time once you hit that 185 lbs mark and see how you feel? It's not set in stone and you can always reevaluate…

Oh do I feel your pain!! I have loose skin on my upper/inner thighs, stomach, and arms (bat wings). It's aggravating but not so bad that I would consider surgery. As to the inner thigh jelly-ness (I call it meat curtains) it has gotten better with time and lots of exercise. Zumba involves lots of different leg moves, so…

You can definitely do this and overcome your food issues...I did it. If I can do it, anyone can. I am a major emotional eater. I eat when I'm sad, happy, stressed, you name it. I realized that to be successful I would have to retrain myself to use food as fuel and not a coping method for my feelings. I have been sorely…

You're so not weird!! I keep wondering when that will stop. I started this journey almost exactly 2 years ago (next Thursday!!) at 213 lbs and a really tight 18. I needed to bump up to a 20. I am now 141 lbs and wear sizes 6/8, depending on the cut. I hold up my new, much smaller clothes and can't believe how impossibly…

First of all, congrats on your loss!! Great job!! Second, yes, most people seem to weigh more later in the day than they do first thing in the morning. My weight sometimes fluctuates up 2 to 5 lbs in the afternoon/evening. It has to do with the fluids/foods you consume throughout the day. That's why weighing consistently…

Well, first off, he may actually NOT know you're lying. Lots of people are saying he can surely see you are over 300 lbs, but maybe he really can't! I was 213 lbs when my husband and I married. He honestly thought I was about 165 lbs (and no, he told me this after I had lost the weight, so he wasn't lying to make me feel…

I'll play!! And congrats on your NSV!!! 1) Although I often feel guilty for taking time away from my family to exercise, I realized finally that I have to take care of myself to be strong and at my best for everyone else. If that means taking a few extra hours a week to improve my health, so be it. 2) I had to purchase…

It is incredibly difficult to get yourself in the right mindset, but that's what I had to do. When I started this journey in September, 2012, I realized I was miserable and if I didn't make changes, in 6 months I would still be miserable...just older!! LOL!! So if you continue doing what you're doing, you may not be at…

Okay this made me tear up a little bit!! So sweet! You are a blessing to each other and it's wonderful that you recognize it. I am also lucky enough to be married to my best friend and, even though he was fit and athletic already, he has been my biggest cheerleader during my "journey" and we have walked this road together.…

I'm not here to judge OP!! Just to offer some personal experience. I took phentermine approx. 15 years ago, for about 8 months, and lost 65lbs. It definitely worked to curb my appetite and I had tons of energy for working out. I saw my doctor monthly for evaluation during that time. I did experience a bit of insomnia and…

No, when I reset my goal to "Maintain" it did not change my previous diary entries. I just went back and double-checked to make sure.:flowerforyou:

Congrats on your loss and maintaining for a year and a half!! That's an awesome accomplishment! I haven't been in maintenance nearly as long as you, only about 3 months, but I do keep a close eye on my weight and how my clothes fit. So far, I've actually lost a few more pounds just trying to find that balance to maintain,…

First of all, you're doing the right thing by planning ahead!! I took a trip to Jamaica in April for a week and truly enjoyed myself. I weighed in at 7 lbs heavier when I returned, but I lost that within a week. It was water weight and fell off quickly when I got back to my routine. These are some of the things I did: If…

You should totally do what makes you feel good after you reach goal (or even while getting there...). Just a couple of suggestions from a woman your age though: 1. Clothes will be a necessity and while you don't want to look old or frumpy, you don't want to look like you're trying too hard either. Classics work best and…

I'm so in for this!! I'm grateful first and foremost for God, for without Him nothing is possible. And please, I mean no disrespect to anyone of different beliefs!!!! :flowerforyou: I'm grateful for my wonderful, loving husband, my children, my family and friends. I'm grateful to have a good job, a nice home, and a car to…

That is an excellent NSV!!! I also have issues with my arms. I always felt they were too fat and now, after losing weight, I have some loose skin. I've been doing some strength training to tighten up that skin and tone up my arms, which has helped a lot. I finally overcame my issues enough to spend my week of vacation…

It took about a month before I really lost a taste for fast food. I just kept thinking about how many calories I would save by making a healthier choice and I was committed to not breaking my resolve. That being said, I basically cut out all fast food when, after about 6 months of healthier eating, I decided to indulge in…

Bare Minerals Faux Tan is really good. It goes on very evenly and dries fast with very little odor. It's a little more expensive than the drugstore varieties but I find I use much less of it.

I've got some issues myself with loose skin. I'm 43 yoa, and I went from 213 lbs to 148 lbs in about 19 months. I took it slow and made sure I exercised and did some strength training throughout, which has helped a lot, but I still have loose skin on my stomach, upper arms (bat wings) and my upper/inner thighs. It's…

Last year I read "The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl", by Shauna Reid. It was light reading but so funny and poignant at the same time. I guess it's not exactly a book on weight loss, but it follows the weight loss journey of an obese young woman. It really shined a light on the emotional aspects of food addiction and how…

I also use WEN. I have very thick, very curly hair, which is also very dry! I can use WEN every day and it doesn't strip my hair at all. I've been using the products for about 2 1/2 years now and I really like it. As to the cost, yes, it's more expensive than drugstore shampoo but I honestly do find that I use less of it…

Don't get discouraged and don't give up!! As the other posters have said, make sure you are consistent. Don't move your scale. Always weigh at the same time of day under the same conditions. Wear the same thing every time or weigh naked. I keep my scale in the bathroom and haven't moved it, except to mop or sweep, in 19…

I feel your pain!! I'm 1 lb to goal and I've taken to evading the question about whether or not I'm in maintenance yet. It's annoying to have to explain yourself. I don't generally get too aggravated because the people who comment to me are family and friends who I know for certain really do care about me. The problem is…

If you can log, I would do it. As another person posted, it would keep me mindful even if I didn't have control over what I was served for meals. Even estimates may help you to stay on point. I will be going to Jamaica next month for a week-long vacation. I just found out cell phone use will be crazy expensive there and…

You're not crazy!! I lost 63 lbs in about 18 months (slowly). I'm about 2 lbs away from my goal. I started at a very tight 18/20 and am now an 8/10. I still have trouble reconciling what I see in the mirror with pictures and the way other people see me. When I hold up a pair of pants or a dress in my current size, my brain…

I get this a lot now mostly from family and I am not offended because the ones saying it I know are speaking from love and concern. That being said, I know without a doubt I'm not too thin and it is really their perceptions of me now vs. what I looked like before. I went from 213 lbs to currently 151 lbs, and I'm a little…

Well, I'm a Methodist, not a Catholic, but I have some Catholic family members. I don't usually observe Lent, but I decided this morning that I am going to give up picking at my nails and cuticles for Lent. It is my one bad habit and I can't seem to stop doing it!! I will pick until they bleed, which I know is a disgusting…

I hit a plateau during the summer of about 9 weeks where my weight fluctuated up and down about 2 lbs but I did not register any losses. However, my clothes became more and more baggy, so I knew I was losing inches and the weight was redistributing. This really helped motivate me. I bought a few pieces of clothing that…
