  • Did you have the laptop hanging from the ceiling when you stepped up on that soapbox, or did you build yourself a podium like normal people???? GEESH. EDIT: And to the one person who equated eating (and the ridiculous notion that one can be "addicted" to it as such) with methamphetimine usage...that may be the most…
  • Trick-or-treating in your neighbor apparently rules.
  • Winner.
  • Here's my suggestion. Go with MFP for one month and see what happens. Use their estimates. Log everything. See where you're at. I've read a lot of posts from individuals who bemoan MFP's shoddy estimates. I think it's hogwash. Yes, maybe you're not burning 400 calories an hour playing Wii bowling. But let's say you do play…
  • Not being able to see your diary any longer (probably a good choice), I'm going to guess your diary for today included a heaping spoonful of crabby, a side of cranky, and for a drink, w(h)ine.
  • And I just did. :-)
  • You know what really IS toxic? Flouride. But because it doesn't make people fat, nobody cares. Sugar toxic? Give me a break, hippie.
  • Take this with a grain of salt. But it almost sounds like "I know I'm an alcoholic, but I'm still going to drink wine". And sooner or later that wine drinking alcoholic is drinking liters of vodka again. It sounds fine, in theory. You're staying under your calories. You're losing weight. But are you really altering your…
  • Meh, there's probably a thousand posts about this very topic out there. Best suggestion, see how what you're doing now works for you and adjust accordingly.
  • 5 days on, 2 days off. That's my motto.
  • I'm really confused by some of the posters this morning. I had a big glass of oxygen this morning for breakfast, and now I'm having a helium bagel followed by my invisible banana. And I'm full.
  • The treadmill I use has a rolling hills function. The incline changes intermittently throughout the run, so it makes it quite a bit more difficult. There is a huge difference, and it's a much better workout in my opinion.
  • Like 7 snarky posts to get to this one. Thanks for all your "input".
  • Okay. You have to be putting us on with this post, right? This is a joke, isn't it? Sorry, that was snarky, but jeebus....your weekend experience is exactly why I'm using MFP. So I don't HAVE TO worry about what I consume on the weekend. And by and large for 5 weeks I haven't, and I've lost weight. Now, I'm a bit different…
  • Just be smart about it. The actually activity of bowling one frame takes maybe a minute? 10 frames, 30 minutes?
  • Here's the thing: When you sign up for MFP if you tell the system you are "sedentary", it means you are not active for most of the day. Which I presume most people in the US actually are nowadays. So the system generates a net calorie goal based on that. If you say you are "lightly active" or above, then perhaps you…
  • I'm going to go against the proverbial tide here, and say log it. Why would you not? Log the beer but not the activity? You're right, it's not hitting the gym, or running, etc. Nobody says it has to be. But it is still activity. I'm of the belief that you should log everything you do, food AND exercise, regardless of what…
  • I hate gyms and health clubs, too, but only because I'm a cheapskate and they're so expensive. But I haven't the space or the upfront capital to buy equipment, so......

  • Drink fewer. :-) Seriously though, I love beer too, and some of the beers I've had really pack a punch. Pumpkin Imperial Stout...totally delicious, and 300 calories. Brutal. So you might have to sacrifice the heaviest of the craft beers or drink fewer. Simple as that. Otherwise, switch to Amstel Light.
  • No. I eat a balanced diet, and if I feel like having a bag of Cheetos, and it fits into my diet, I eat them. And since I've never suffered from indigestion problems that have been diagnosed as a gluten intolerance or allergy, why should I? Feeling good can be a result of thousands of different stimulants. Please feel free…
  • Here's why I'm negtive on it: 1) It's all about how a person "feels". They cut out one ingredient completely, and "feel" better, and suddenly they're convinced that it's the greatest thing in the world, and that everybody could "feel" better if they cut it out too. I understand there are people with sensitivities, or are…
  • ^^THIS^^ They also died at 40, too.
  • I appreciate your post, and I hear you on folks with Celiac disease and other gluten sensitivities. I'm pulling this one comment out, not to pick on you or the comment, but rather to go back to my original point. In my opinion, it's far too simple to equate a gluten free diet and the experience of "less depression." It's…
  • This is not an intended snarky comment, so I apologize in advance if it comes across as such. But I am honestly curious.... I've read many posts on MFP by people who have ditched gluten from their diets, and how "great {they} feel". It's always the standard "I dropped gluten from my diet, and it's so great because I feel…
  • To be fair, reading some of these posts might make a person believe that they became grossly overweight eating oranges, peaches and apples every day. That's simply not the case. Fruits are extremely high in nutrients that you need for a strong immune system, and for daily functioning. I personally believe fruit is…
  • Well, now I've grown curious!!! I've never even considered macro break down. I'm currently trying to lose about 10 pounds and I'm doing a tennis strength-training program. I'm in phase one, building strength. Two days a week doing full body strength training, and then I'm doing 2-3 days a week of cardio (mix up running on…
  • SO TRUE. I tried rum & diet coke, gin & diet tonic, etc. While delicious....definitely not football drinks! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
