  • You just keep going and slow down when you need to. It helps a lot to run out of the sun too.
  • LOL. I tried Zombies run for the first time today and it was a lot of fun.
  • You my just need a short break. If you take your resting heart rate each morning you can track your recovery each day. If its elevated about 10% above normal you need a rest day
  • 700 doesn't sound unreasonable for an hour. But if your hair is falling out there is a problem. maybe too much exercise without recovery (i.e. exhaustion) or bad nutition.
  • I don't know about the knees but if you want some motivation google Ed Whitlock for what is possible over 70 and even over 80. He is a real inspiration.
  • Human beings are born as endurance runners. The state of not being able to run (barring some abnormality) is simply being out of shape.
  • Increased ability of the body to regulate heat by increasing sweat is a normal response to increased fitness levels. It's also a normal response to heat acclimization in the summer.

  • When running, calorie burn isn't drastically different as you speed up. At my weight, 177 lbs, 970 calories is between an 8 and 9 mile run. How far did you go?
  • Yes it does. Also, if you have good aerobic fitness then you have to be pretty well rested to be able to push your body hard enough to get to max HR. Another thing that may or may not apply, if you are chronically underrecovered then your heart will not respond normally to increased effort.
  • I don't think the exercise ring moves in response to heartrate but rather to pace when walking. My walking heartrate rarely exceeds 80 but the exercise ring moves if I walk fast enough. I think 3.5 mph is the speed you need to be walking to get exercise credit.
  • Apple watch is reporting the activity calories without the normal BMR calories added. The others are reporting both. In any case, a 5K is going to burn 300 to 400 calories (activity + BMR) unless you weigh way over 200 lbs.
  • I've run a 1:35 a couple of years ago and at those paces I don't think there are any real secret tricks except first to be in shape to run the pace you want and second not to start off too fast and burn out at the end. You need a 6:52 pace so run that right from the start and don't sprint out with all the boneheads that…
  • Yes, I have gotten back into running that way and it will work. Just be sure to keep enough recovery days in the mix until you are back in shape.
  • Do aerobic exercise, it doesn't really matter what kind. Your heart rate will lower in time as your fitness improves. The more you do, the faster you will improve as long as you are recovering sufficiently between sessions. Losing weight will help as your body will not have to work so hard to move.
  • If you record a workout on the apple watch it is recorded to both the activity and health apps on the iphone. if your health app is connected to MFP it will record the workout in MFP. To get it to record though you have to open MFP on the iphone after the workout is completed.
  • When you first start out its almost impossible to stay in the target zone if you are running and walking fixed intervals. Also, even if you are not breathing too hard your heart can be beating fast simply because your aeorbic system is completely undeveloped. During C25K I would recommend watching it but not worrying about…
  • The best way to build endurance is by running easy a lot. Sprinting will do little for you in this regard. Easy is running at a pace where you can still talk or with a HRM around 77% max heart rate and under. Pace is not important but pace will get faster at the same effort level as your endurance increases. In my…
  • These are nice. http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/day-of-race/airflow-microstretch-belt It carries my phone and keys easily and adjusts to fit snugly with no movement at all.
  • I stream spotify so my music changes all the time ranging from 70's rock to gothic metal and the occasional podcast.

  • Walk run intervals make a lot of sense when it's really hot. However, you don't need to speed up the run intervals a whole lot every time. Most of the time your breathing should still be under control.
  • If you have a linked step/fitness tracker then you can put sedentary and let the tracker log the activity above that. If you don't have a linked tracker then its probably easier and better to put moderately active.
  • It might be and it might not be too much in time but it almost certainly is too much right now. Get to 4 times a week running and stay there for 6 months or so. You will improve much better that way than doing too much right now. As for later, some people can run everyday and some can't. It depends on your individual…
  • My suggestion is still to take a day or two of rest. That costs nothing and if it doesn’t fix the problem then you can look for more complex causes and solutions. My recent experience: I started a running program in Feb and was up to running a lot every day, about 18 miles a day between walking and running. I initially…
  • Rest, take a day or two off. Your body needs rest to get stronger. You will bounce right back on track after a day or so.
  • How long have you been working out and what do you do?
  • Unless you have a medical problem like asthma, its because you are out of shape with non-existent aerobic fitness. You need to do aerobic exercise and it will get better with time.
  • It does work with MFP. The Apple watch reports its data to the Apple Health app on the iphone so you link that to MFP.
  • Apple watch will do fitness as well as or better than any other fitness tracker, plus it does lots of other stuff. Its a watch with a glass face so if you bash it too much it will break like any other watch. The glass is hardened, but it's not armor plated. That said, I have been wearing mine now for 5 weeks and it still…
