  • The lifestyle settings are more targeted towards the type of activity you do every/most days that isn't actual exercise. Like if you're a stay at home mum with five kids or have a job where you're on your feet a lot. That kind of stuff is hard to log but does burn additional calories. You're right in saying that you should…
  • This program is fantastic or just check out the information from his blog. The thrust is a must  http://bretcontreras.com/
  • The issue is not with the USDA data but the data you've given is for a baked potato. The OP made chips. The amount of water lost in baking chips is far greater than the amount lost in baking a potato therefore the end product will be much lighter (and more condensed nutrition wise) for the chips.
  • Sometimes, mostly with cardio, but I just have to keep reminding myself how good I'll feel afterwards. I also find not thinking about not going helps. Kind of just get into auto pilot mode to get yourself through the door. If I think about it too much I can come up with a reason not to go. Luckily this is usually not that…
  • I read an article on this and thought that it sounded pretty interesting. Would love to get tested to see what I respond to best
  • Spot on I think hahaha
  • Diet extremism is a pet hate of mine. We now know that low fat isn't good for you, it doesn't necessarily mean that high fat is the way to go either. It annoys me how people forget that there's a middle ground
  • Well not being low carb doesn't automatically mean that a person eats high carb. I really like my moderate carb, moderate fat, moderate (although probably high compared to the general population) protein diet and find that it keeps me very satiated. Vegetables contain a lot of carbs and are also very filling IMHO. White…
  • Why not pay it forward and hand it on to someone who would benefit from it, sell it on Craigslist or trade it on Craigslist for one you might actually be able use (provided there's nothing actually wrong with it that is)
  • I guess you could try sticking around the 1600 mark for non-workout days and aiming to eat back half your exercise cals or a little more on workout days (1900-2000). It will ultimately be trial and error though. If meal planning is a problem, you could try keeping your meals the same and add in a couple of extra 150-200…
  • I agree, it's more than the cocoa. I think it's the combination between all of the effects of the cocoa (chemical effects in the brain) with the highly palatable combination of fat and sugar (the combination of the two has been shown to be way more palatable than either alone). I too know can control myself better with…
  • Also if you're worried about eating to goal then eat your meal until comfortably full and top up with something calorie dense and delicious like dark chocolate
  • If I want to finish this later I can
  • You can't control what people say to you but you can control how they make you feel and your reaction to it. Comments like your Aunt's are more a refelction on the person making them than on you and generally come from a place of insecurity. Ignore it and move past it and definitely don't let it stop you from pursuing your…
  • Ditch the scale for a while and just measure. Why does the number even matter that much. We don't walk around with our weight tatooed on our foreheads but people WILL notice if you're shrinking in size. Take it as a massive win.
  • It doesn't sound like you're doing too much per se but maybe try cutting back or taking a break for a week or two. Just the gym classes perhaps. You could try upping your calories either a little or to maintenance for a while to see if that increases your energy. I know you didn't ask for advice on this but what are you…
  • Pizza, dark chocolate, all chocolate, mushrooms, avocado, any really decadent chocolate based dessert, super ripe tomatos, sweet potato, goats cheese, my mum's lasagne, salmon, bacon with pancakes and maple syrup, milkshakes, pizza, chocolate
  • The new salted caramel from bulk nutrients is the bomb. I mixed it with milk and it tasted like a caramel milkshake mmmmmm
  • I still eat some fruit, mainly berries on a day-to-day basis. I tend to snack more on veggies now as I find I get a lot more bang for my buck out of them. I love bananas though so have the odd one of these but mostly keep them as a pre-game energy source. I eat much higher carbs on game days though. At the end of the day,…
  • I guess the point is that the OP was asking for tips and advice on dealing with social situations involving food and your advice was basically be an adult and just don't eat it if it's not compatible with your goal. It's possibly the right advice but also at the same time very unhelpful. What the OP was looking for was…
  • If it were that easy then a third of Americans wouldn't be obese (not even counting the ones that are overweight). People continuously make decisions that they know are incompatible with a healthy lifestyle for many reasons. Unfortunately many people on here seem to oversimplify things and ingnore the psychological side. I…
  • At the end of the day, it's your body and only you will know what's right for it (and your mental health). You do tend to get better with experience in knowing intuitively when you should push and when to give yourself permission to skip.
  • If I'm generally tired I just suck it up and go. I almost always tend to feel better afterwards. On rare days I suck it up and go and still feel crappy during my workout. In that case I give myself permission to cut the workout short. Then there are days when you genuinely are exhausted, sick, hurt or so sore you can…
  • Ugh! Those type of trainers suck. I don't have a problem with them trying to sign you up because at the end of the day that's how they make a living but pushy sales techniques and not helping you because you aren't going to sign up is not okay. They shouldn't call it a free session if there's a catch. The good news is that…
  • Losing weight is mostly about what (and how much) you eat. Exercise is great for physical and mental health though and sometimes the healthiness can permeate through your life I find. Perhaps some reflection on why you gained the weight back is a good idea. It ultimately means that the way you lost weight wasn't…
  • One thing I've learned along the way here is that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. I mean that mostly in a sense of adherence and long term sustainabilty. The key to long term success is figuring out a way of eating that you can do essentially for the rest of your life. For most people it…
  • You were doing fairly well up until point 7. What toxins and how does apple cider vinegar help?
  • Also, I met a lady while travelling who used to grow her hair long and every 6 months or so cut it off and donate it to make wigs for kids with cancer. She swore that prenatal vitamins made her hair grow like crazy. Kinda makes sense when you think about it. Pregnancy is growing a baby, so generating new cells. So is…
  • Prenatal vitamins are just vitamins with specific doses aimed at pregnant women. Taking them won't make you pregnant or have any strange effect, although you possibly want to warn any sexual partner who might happen to see them lying around. I suspect your Doc probably told you to take them because he/she knows they have…
