3rd vote for fitness blender HIIT workouts. However, I don't do them right after weight training but on days in between weight training.

I remember barely being able to walk the day after my first day skiing. You will definitely burn a ton of calories. I am going on vacay next week and I am planning on logging as much as I can and trying to make reasonable choices. There may be lots of quick add calories and guesstimates. I will just see how it goes and not…

You look amazing!! I can't wait until I get some bulky muscles too.

You are not eating enough, especially for with of the exercise you are doing. You should be netting above your BMR, not below it. The deficit should be taken from your TDEE (BMR + exercise + thermic effect of food). Try one of the TDEE calculators and subtract only 10-20%. I know this will be more food than you are used to…

I think you could maintain without counting and measuring every single thing that goes in your mouth if you eat the same foods very regularly and only count calories for meals that are out of your normal eating pattern. For example, if you eat the same breakfast and snacks every day and rotate through lunches and dinners…

5'8 and currently 140 and working towards 135. Though I want to gain muscle after losing fat so may end up higher.

As others have said, there is a difference between steps from daily activity and cardiovascular exercise. Even though both burn calories and will help you lose weight, you need your heart rate to be elevated for a period of time to be considered "cardio." For some individuals, a brisk walk will be cardio. For me, my heart…

We are very similar height, age and build and I lose on 1600-1800 and my daily burn is between 2200-2500 according to fitbit. Were you previously losing weight on 1600-1800 before you hit your goal weight?

Wow, some great ideas on here. I put it on top of a toasted english muffin with fruit spread or fresh fruit.

I think the OP is just trying to stir the pot, but being a SAHM is not the right choice for everyone and is not always even the best choice for the children. I know several moms that are BETTER parents because they are working and really can't deal with being home. I have tried working full time, part time, staying home,…

My husband would never do that, and he knows that I better not catch him looking either. But that is our relationship, everyone is different. You are obviously not comfortable with it so you should tell him in a nice and calm manner without making him feel like a total weirdo for looking. Sometimes when we overreact to a…

Moving comfort Fiona has been the best for me for high impact days.

I was confused about that from the book as well because he seems to be of the view that extra exercise will help increase the deficit. I usually eat back my exercise calories because I'm hungry!

Wow, what an amazing transformation both inside and out Jackie sounds like a very special person.

I feel like I eat all day! I usually get hungry every 3 hours. 7 am breakfast workout usually around 9 10:30 am snack - protein smoothie if I lifted, something smaller if just cardio 12 pm lunch 2 pm snack 4 pm snack (I usually get pretty hungry in the afternoons!) 6:45ish dinner 9 pm after dinner snack, usually something…

Are there any fruit and veggies you like? Have you tried a lot of fresh veggies (not from can or frozen)? I used to not like veggies because my mom never made them fresh. Once I started trying fresh veggies made simply, I started liking them a lot more.

I agree with trying to limit your fast food. I eat out usually 1 or 2 times a week and always retain water afterwards even if I stay within my calories from the increased sodium.

Great blog post and great plans guys! I'm saving this for when I hit maintenance which will hopefully be soon!

Are you truly sedentary? With that much exercise I doubt you are the type to sit all day. What are your cals if you set lightly active?

Drinking too much alcohol messes me up for days and days. But then all of a sudden *whoosh* it goes back to normal. Everyone's body is different as to when it will go back down. You also have to remember that 164 may have been a low weight day and your weight fluctuates. Sometimes I get to a lower weight for one day but…

I changed my settings to 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat and usually eat around 130-150 g of protein. If you are going of mfp's protein you are probably doing alright.

Learn how to cook some meals that are more balanced. Eating plates full of veggies will make you feel full from the volume, but is not a balanced diet. Add some starchier veggies, grains, cheese, meat, nuts, etc. Try skinnytaste.com for recipes, or the millions of other websites and blogs out there.

Wow, I completely overpaid for my personal trainer... $50 for 3 sessions is cheap! I would do it.

I have definitely had this problem and is how I gained the weight I want to lose. You have to figure out what need this late night snacking is fulfilling for you. For some people, it relieves boredom, for some it is emotional eating to avoid down time thinking about things they want to think about. For some it is stress…

I've been doing the routine from New Rules of Lifting for Women. It is full body weight training 3 days a week and will give you months of programs to use. I like that I know exactly what I going to do before I get to the gym and exactly what equipment to look for. No guess work or wondering around trying to figure out…

Definitely. I plan dinners a week in advance so I only grocery shop once. So I will input my dinners days in advance. Breakfast and lunch I usually buy 2 or 3 options for the week with similar calorie counts so they are interchangeable depending on my mood. I save up several hundred calories for snacks and a little over a…

I noticed a cute guy watching me squat today and was totally fine with that. As a married mom over 30, I don't get checked out that often any more!! But in my 20s when that happened all the time it was creepy.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely a noob! I lifted today and just did intervals on the step mill for 15 min afterwards. I will probably hold off on plyometrics for a little while until I get the basics down. I just heard so many great things about HIIT, bought a few HIIT dvds, then was surprised that they all had plyometrics…

Interested!!

Thanks. So how does one incorporate HIIT workouts with explosive plyometrics when doing weight training?
