This is what I was told too. I take mine at 5:30, go to boot camp from 6-7, and then come home and eat breakfast/have my coffee. I've noticed that I feel much better if I do it this way as opposed to waking up, taking it, waiting 30 minutes, and then eating.

I believe I've already had a mild lactose intolerance, but the main reason I gave it up was because of some research I'd done on the health ramifications related to dairy. It was a personal decision and I don't judge anyone else who consumes diary :) (Just don't want to get bashed here for suggesting that it's not…

This is totally me, except I believe the processed "junk" has more sodium than natural, whole foods, which is why you see the gain. I also believe drinking plenty of water is important- the more water I drink, the less I crave processed junk, and then less fluctuation I see on the scale. But, everyone is different, and…

I'm 5'7, 145 pounds. I lost down from 163 by following a whole foods, plant-based diet. I don't eat dairy or gluten, and I drink a gallon of water per day. I also don't eat red meat, however we do eat certain types of fish, eggs, and fancy-pants hormonal free, etc etc chicken about once per week. I attend a boot camp class…

TSH: .02 FT3: 3.5 Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL FT4: 1.2 Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL I take 100 mg of tirosint and 30 mcg of Cytomel per day. I feel really good now, but the switch from Levoxyl to Tirosint was awful. I'm 6 weeks in on the tirosint, and feel MUCH better on this than I ever did on Levoxyl. The addition of a T3 drug was what…

I wouldn't say insulting, I'd just say ignorant. Although, the myfitnesspal boards have a myriad of know-it-alls who enjoy bashing others, so I wouldn't get my feelings hurt if I were you.

I follow a vegan plant-based diet. Easiest way for me to maintain my weight (originally lost about 20 pounds eating this way). Never feel tired anymore, or sluggish, and my weight doesn't fluctuate at all. Really recommend it.

THIS. I eat a whole foods, plant-based vegan diet, with zero white flour, and only sprouted grain bread once per day at breakfast. I rarely but sometimes do eat whole wheat tortillas. But yes, the weight FLEW off me, as well. 20 pounds since May, in fact. My carb intake is the max MFP says to get, but those carbs come from…

I saw greater weight loss with a total diet change than I've ever seen with exercise, and I exercise HARD. Nothing changed until I changed my diet, and I've even cut BACK on the exercise. I think it's totally possible. My trainer says weight loss is 90% food, and 10% exercise.

B12. Nutritional Yeast is oftentimes fortified with it- you can find it in the bulk section at Whole Foods. I mix it into nearly every recipe I make. I never can taste it. There are also B12 supplements you can buy that dissolve under your tongue. Hope that helps.

I've written about my recent diet change other places on these boards, and I'm not being preachy AT ALL because I know what works for some does't work for all, etc etc, so just take this with a grain of salt, BUT, 3 months ago I started eating a whole foods, plant-based diet, with no dairy and no gluten. I feel FANTASTIC,…

You most definitely need your free T3 and T4 levels tested. You may need, like many, the addition of Cytomel to your therapy. Also, how's your diet. Diet, surprisingly, has played a huge role in getting my energy back.

Maybe I'm a little late to the posting party (ha), BUT, 3 months ago, my fiance and I began a gluten-free, plant-based diet (vegan). I have PCOS and am hypothyroid. I have seen major weight loss (20 pounds gone now), and my hypo symptoms have virtually vanished. I'm still treated with Levoxyl/cytomel, but at lower doses. I…

I'm hypo and regulated with levothyroxine and Cytomel. I also have PCOS. I could NEVER lose weight prior to beginning a whole foods, plant based, vegan diet. I instantly began losing 2 pounds per week, eating a lot more volume. My body likes this way of eating. I feel awesome, and most of my hypo symptoms have disappeared.…

I really love www.ohsheglows.com. I've been cooking recipes from her site often and it's been working for me. I also got an antioxidant test run a the doctor yesterday and scored in the highest percentile. I was very pleased because I had been a little worried about whether or not I was eating a nutritionally sound diet. I…

That looks better, but like I said above, you really should try lentils. I had never tried them before, but they are a great source of protein. I eat a plant-based vegan diet with very limited processed foods, and am able to get all the protein I need from what I eat. I'd be wary about what's in the bread products- ie,…

If I were you I'd cut out most of the processed stuff. If you're going vegan for weight loss purposes then adding in fake chicken nuggets, etc won't do you much good. Sodium, etc. I'd check out www.ohsheglows.com I'd add nuts, lentils, split peas, squash, sweet potatoes, spinach, and avocados. I'd also add in natural…

I honestly can't tell the difference, but I use very little oil in all recipes. I actually like the taste of it much better than olive oil, which I can't taste at all.....
-
I use coconut oil in place of olive oil in every recipe, no need for a special book.

Free T3/T4- higher end of the scale. TSH- lower end of the scale (mine is WAY below lab range and my Dr. doesn't care.)

A friend sent me these just this week: http://101cookbooks.com/ http://www.sproutedkitchen.com/ http://acozykitchen.com/ (these bowls are on heavy rotation in our house http://acozykitchen.com/dinner-for-one/) http://www.theppk.com/ and this list here…

TSH should not be used an indicator for treatment regarding hypothyroidism. (If I were treated based on my TSH level, I wouldn't be treated at all- it was something like .075 the last time I checked.) The way I understand it is that your body makes T4 hormone, and then converts it into T3. T3 is what regulates your…

I really like www.ohsheglows.com Lots of vegan recipes!

I said this in another post, but I've been eating a plant-based vegan diet for 10 days now, and I swear the weight is FLYING off. I've never had this much success. I'm eating the same number of calories, but no animal products, no white flour, and no sugar. I don't know much about paleo, but I *think* this is much like it,…

THIS. It would depend on what the lab range is, but 2.5 may be low normal. Most people feel best when their T3 level is in the higher range. (I know I do).

I specifically asked about soy, and he said that if you're thyroid is already on the fritz (I'm 100% supplemented) that if soy was changing my numbers he would adjust my medication accordingly, but not to worry about it because it's not as harmful as caseen (sp?) that's in animal protein. I'm going to do this as an…

I have my MFP set where I 'net' 1500. If I exercise, I eat my calories back, which usually puts me at around 1800 total, 1500 net. If I don't, then I try to stick to 1500-1600. I run and do bootcamp 5 days per week, fwiw.

I took the T3 after the blood draw. I was just happy my T3 was higher. I also just switched from generic to non-generic (Cytomel). I feel no different on the cytomel.....we'll see. Next blood draw is January 18!
