Had the same thing happen to me. I rested for a few days and got actual running shoes (yes, novice runner who was just pounding the pavement in some bottom dollar sketchers) The shoes made a huge difference. I completed the program without anymore issues.

The Laughing cow has these light cheese spreads. One of my favorites is garlic and cheese. 35 calories per wedge :happy: and imo it goes far. I use it on/in all sorts of stuff. I like to split a wedge between two light rice cakes. Totally culls my cheese & cracker type cravings for under 100 calories.

I did the whole program outside this past summer. I can run 5k now but I get so bored on the treadmill (I do love running it outside). I have come to accept I have weird taste buds, but going to throw it out there anyway. I like to put southwest mustard on my salads. Its like only 10 calories a tsp (and a tsp of that stuff goes a long way) with full flavor. Oh and when there is calorie room I add light ranch with it-turns it into a south west ranch flavor.

Just out of curiosity do your friends run 5ks? Most of the people I know who run them are competing mostly against themselves, their own time, and it does not really matter who is finishing when. I hit up my Dr just for this reason. Its kind of nice when the naysayers start in on the 'to much loss' routine to be able to come back and say my Dr set this goal.

I have done a few. "Go to bed hungry" is one I have been following for awhile now. It really has helped since in the past I was an epic late night snacker. I wasn't really hungry, just bored. The water rule has been helpful as well.
