  • Protein is a nutrient, and not exclusive to men or women. Look into protein powders such as cellucor whey or musclepharm combat powder. Pre-made shakes are usually garbage. Also, these products will have no direct effect on your weight loss.
  • "Clean" is a made-up subjective term used to describe food, but no one can define it because it means different things to different people. "Healthy" is much the same way. Foods can't be described as such without dose information or context of the rest of the diet.
  • This type of behavior is treading a fine line. Just don't worry about it and move on. Perhaps become more flexible with your calories over the week so you don't feel the need for these occasions.
  • It's not real. End of story. There is metabolic adaptation to dieting, but not starvation mode.

  • If the OP is truly serious, then she should read up on proper nutrition and not go on any overly restrictive and/or fad diet that is based on arbitrary exclusion. That said, sounds like this Doctor's diet is more mainstream BS sold to the uninformed masses.
  • Forget ratios as they do not account for sufficiency. Protein at 1g/lb of lean body mass and fat at 0.4g/lb of total body weight are good starting points. The rest of your calories can come from any mix of the 3 p/c/f which you prefer. Just trial and error.
  • Have you considered eating more fibrous vegetables or resistant starches? Baked potatoes are crazy satiating. Certain brands of popcorn are only 100 calories a bag and have quite a bit of volume to them.
