Hi! I'm not sure I'm following any one specific plan. I've been doing this since the end of February, and I've played with my numbers quite a bit. I started out with less than 70 grams of carbs because I didn't want to go all the way down to 20 grams of carbs like Atkins induction. But then as I read more and more about…

Hi! I've been doing low carb since the end of February. I used to think it was a fad diet that wouldn't work. For me, this is much easier to stick to just a low calorie moderation diet. I still had some cheat days, but it seems easier for me to go back to the low carb diet than the low calorie diet. I've been trying to…

I follow FItbit. I have it set to 'personalized' so that it uses my past history to estimate my calorie burn for the day. If you pick 'sedentary', the numbers of calories you have starting the day out will be low. I'm a data girl; I like data, so I've been tracking my weight loss, my calories burned according to Fitbit,…

I know that cutting carbs is not vital to weight loss...it's all about calories in and calories out. But for the last 10 years, I've been trying to lose weight by counting calories because I didn't believe in fad diets...and I considered all the low carb diets fad diets. But counting calories hasn't worked for me...I lose…

The only way I know how to take that into account is there's a food in the database called 'net carb adjustment - fiber and sugar alcohols subtracted.' Add it just like a regular food, and each serving takes off a carb from your total. My diary is open too if you want to see how it works.

I think the low carb is worth it. I've been doing low carb since the end of February, and I keep hearing 'it's so much harder, it's too restrictive.' The weight I've lost between February and now has been the easiest weight loss I've ever lost. I didn't lose anymore than I did on a moderation diet, but now I'm not…

I don't like rice at all, and pasta is not high on my list of favorite foods either. Wine is low carb...and I like that better than any of the other alcohols anyway. Breyer's Smart Carbs ice cream is pretty good...usually make some kind of milk shake out of them if I just have to have ice cream, actually don't do that very…

I'm trying low carb because I haven't found the moderation diet to be sustainable for me. I've been doing deficit diets by cutting calories for 10 years...and it doesn't stick for me. Eventually I go back into the way I've always ate and gain it all back plus more. 'The definition of insanity is doing something over and…

We had some of those today...we put them on skewers and heat them on the grill. Doesn't take very long, and it gives them a grilled taste. Sometimes we'll put seasonings on it beforehand. We do this often during the summer. We also sometimes throw them in things like jambalaya and stir fry...usually towards the end of the…

I've been on a low carb diet for a little over a month, and I probably go in and out of ketosis all the time. I haven't figured out the right levels yet. Sometimes the amount of saturated fat I intake seriously freaks me out after all the low fat diets I've been on...I'm having to retrain myself on that. I have a cheat…

I spend anywhere between $100 - $200 a week. That's for me, my soon to be husband, two daughters (18 and 19), and a German Shepherd/Lab. We were getting by with $100 most weeks...but I decided to go lower carb. Made our grocery bill go up. Haven't figured out how to get it to go back down and still stay lower carb...but…

I've been on a low carb diet for the last month, and I plan to stay on one. I still count my calories. Do I need to? I think I could lose weight without counting the calories, but I don't think it would be a healthy weight loss. Before I was struggling to stay under my calorie goal, now I'm struggling to just get near it.…

I still count calories. I started out on Myfitnesspal counting calories. And yes, I was losing weight doing that. A little over a month ago I experimented with low carb for a week (I was in a weight loss competition, gained a lot of water weight right before weigh in due to excess salt, and needed to lose it fast) and…

You won't find much support for 'meal replacement' here on the boards. I was using Slimfast, still using it some. I wasn't really following the Slimfast Diet 3-2-1 though. I used them as a replacement for breakfast and sometimes lunch. For me I sometimes don't have time to make me something...and I'll admit that sometimes…

I'm not sure I'm qualified to give out advice...I do a lot of things that the general Fitbit community doesn't agree with...but I hate to see anyone give up. :) If you gained those 3 pounds back really quickly, it might be water weight. A couple of weeks ago I was so pleased with how much weight I've lost that I decided…

They don't have a heart rate monitor. For a heart rate monitor, I use a Mio Heart Pro Petite that I bought on eBay for about $25 bucks total. And between the two for me, I think Fitbit was the more useful purchase. For the OP who was asking about the Fitbit, I love mine. The first thing I realized was I am REALLY…

Hi, welcome to Myfitnesspal! I'm not sure I'm a good candidate for giving advice on 'healthy' meals, but I know what it's like to have to live within a food budget. We still eat way too much processed food, and unfortunately I don't think we'll ever get away from all of it. Sometimes we just need a quick, cheap meal. We…

I've got several going on. They are great for me. My problem is that I have always taken too many breaks and cheat days, and when I have money up for it, I don't take as many breaks. I stay on course better. My first one ended today, and we're waiting for two more people to weigh in. I made my goal of 4% loss...that was 7…

Hi! I was drinking about a gallon of coca cola a day. I was seriously addicted. Like the person before me said, the headaches will eventually go away. My boyfriend who gave up coca cola as well started having a couple of cups of coffee a day to get caffeine in, but since I don't like coffee without a gallon of creamer…

Everyone will die....unless you're Duncan Macleod (sorry...my boyfriend has been on a Highlander marathon for the last week. While I really enjoy looking at Adrian Paul without a shirt, I'm really tired of Highlander right now...we're just now starting season 3) Back on topic: Any diet can fail. In 2006, I lost 50lbs and…

1) Eating fast food and at restaurants WAY too much and not paying attention to calories...amazing how many calories are in some of that stuff 2) Addicted to Coca-Cola. Over the years I've gotten more calories from Coca-Cola than food. When I was living with my parents as a child/teenager, soda was a luxury...when I got…

I love Slimfast! I like the French Vanilla. I don't follow the 3-2-1 plan though. I just have a shake for breakfast and sometimes lunch. I just don't have the time to make breakfast and lunch everyday. I like the Slimfast, I don't get excessively hungry between meals like some people have claimed (I'm actually used to…

I love SlimFast. French Vanilla, yum. It certainly beats the way I was eating. I don't always have a Slimfast. When I have time, I make Banana Pancakes for breakfast and soup or something for lunch, but I don't always have time. I also don't think the money you spend on Slimfast will be 'wasted.' I mean, I have to eat…

Right handed, but I can do a few things left handed. As a child, I liked to write stories...that was before I had a computer, I would get tired of writing, so I taught myself how to write left handed. Not something I use much anymore, but I still can do it.

My favorite diet fad: 500 calories a day diet with an injection of a pregnancy hormone. I had a friend who tried that one with his wife. He was miserable, dreaming of hamburgers all day while he should have been working. Of course they lost weight, but it wasn't good for long term, and they gained it all back. The same…

I almost skipped this topic because I'm not much of a cook unfortunately. There is one thing that I've been making on a regular basis though that is wonderful: For breakfast, whole wheat vegan banana pancakes (found the recipe when my daughter decided to go vegan for awhile, and I was trying to do more things with whole…

The 1200 calorie diet is working for me right now (although I do sometimes go over that, I'm human after all...I'm also going to hope that sometimes going over my calories will keep me out of 'starvation mode' I keep hearing so much about). 5.6 pounds lost since February 1. Since I'm just now trying this out, I can't tell…

Interesting topic because I've been trying to figure out something else to eat because I was too low (I'm sticking around 1200 calories a day although I'm not real strict about it if I go over). Problem is I'm not really hungry. I was only 60 calories down so I finally settled on some sweet pickles. Other times I'll reach…

1. What made you join this DietBet 10? I was pretty determined to lose weight this year, but I think that having money on the line will help strengthen that determination.. The day after this Dietbet 10 ends, my boyfriend (husband by that time) and I are going on vacation. I would love to be able to buy a bathing suit and…

I'm 5'3. Current weight is 174. At my heaviest I weighed 202. According to the BMI calculators, a healthy weight for me starts at 140, so that's what I'm working on. Once I get to 140, I'm going to decide whether or not I want to go on. I haven't seen 140 in so long, I can't remember what it looks like!
