  • First, im sorry for your losses. It cant be easy, especially around the holidays. Im curious what you mean by a partial reset.. you are either resetting, or you are not. Do you mean only doing say 6 weeks instead of 12? What you need to look at is your prior dieting history. If you ever dieted on any kind of restriction…
  • Aww Congrats Jennifer!! So very happy for you! And yes, you are beautiful and that dress is a knockout on you!! Im so glad you had a wonderful wedding and enjoyed it all!!! Kelly Team EM2WL
  • Heya @SuperCarLori welcome to the group! I hope you have had a chance to read through the stickies located at the top of the community page, or follow the link below to get the info. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10430416/welcome-to-em2wl-start-here#latest We dont recommend a 20% cut to start off with, as…
  • Read the post I just did a few days about about heavy lifting:) You are doing awesome. Your progress is right where it should be. Sometimes we think that the body should change faster, but in reality, its the mindset that has to change first. And learning to accept ourselves in ALL aspects of the journey is important:) The…
  • I would just track your calories and see where you lie first. Even though you havent tracked in two years and think you have binged eaten your way through it all, it is very likely what you think was binging is actually right where you should have been eating at. Start with just tracking what you are currently eating, not…
  • As @TerezaToledo has said, 1200 Calories is not enough for anyone, unless you happen to be a 7 year old child. Its a complete myth that women need only 1200 cals. Its the reason why so many women end up dieting and redieting their entire life. If we have just been told in the first place what our maintenance calories…
  • @rubes002 welcome to the group. You may find you never "like" working out. Some people never get excited about hitting the gym and you might just be one of them. But hopefully you will be able to find what you can tolerate well enough to keep going and not dread the time there. Do you lift weights, or just find classes?…
  • @amc191129 Welcome to the group! As Ichel said, don't focus on changing everything at once. This is a lifelong learning process, not a quick fix, so you need to make sure you arent looking at this as a way to lose weight in a very shirt amount of time. Focus on the small things first, as they add up to the big changes in…
  • There are so many different types and kinds of protein powders. A lot comes down to personal preference, so if you don't like one. Try another.. find one that works for you and fits the needs you have. For me, I buy mine fro Costco because I like the price and the powder tastes just fine to me:) Kelly Em2WL Ambassador and…
  • Welcome @CamGoddess and @Sherry0479 sent you both FR. Like Ichel, i eat more than 1200 before lunch as well. We hope you enjoy your time with us! Kelly EM2WL Ambassador and Moderator
  • I find syncing the device to MFP gives more headaches than it is worth. I would just use the data from your fitbit, showing you what you a burning daily, but leave it unsynced to MFP and manually do your calories on your diary. I set my tracker to TDEE and if I track any activity, then the calorie burn is changed to 1.…
  • Im sorry for your loss :( Know that it is ok to take breaks and walk away for a bit if it becomes too much during stressful times. Especially at this time of year, enjoy the time with family and put other things like tracking aside. Kelly
  • Welcome to the group! I am glad you have realized how dangerously low your calorie intake was. Slowing increasing it up and being steady with the increases is a step in the right direction. Id say your fitbit is giving you a better tdee reading than the calculators are, So I would based your intake on that.. slowly make…
  • I would continue at your current TDEE while on holidays. For the little bit of time there might be a difference, it wont hurt either way, whether tdee should be lower or higher. Its just a lot easier to keep the course the same and just relax:) For me, I enjoy the holidays by sitting at TDEE and just enjoying time with my…
  • Stress and Salt seems to be the reasons for you this week. Im glad you noticed that your energy level and mood drops down with lower calories. If nothing else, that is the best reason to continue eating at a higher level. This is the perfect time of year to sit at TDEE (or higher) and just enjoy the season:) Kelly EM2WL…
  • @carlavaughan thats diet mentality at play:) Thats why its important to keep that scale away, especially if you know you wont be able to mentally handle seeing an increase on it. So don't give it the opportunity to:) The mental game is THE hardest thing to overcome in this. When you feel that mentality creeping up, just…
  • Welcome to the group! The first step is realizing that you have metabolic damage and you want to correct it. Some people chose to go up slowly with their cals, going 100 each week or so. Others, like myself ripped the bandaid and went on a feeding frenzy and jumped up high, fast. There is no right way to increasing the…
  • What eating more means is that your body requires so much energy just to function. That means normal body functions like organs working properly. That is called your BMR, (Basal Metabolic Rate). Anything your body does on top of of normal organ function, also needs calories to burn. That is called your TDEE (Total Daily…
  • The short answer is because your body is starving. Eating low calories is not replenishing your fuel stores, which is why you are tired all the time. When your body takes an increase in calories, it has no idea if you are going to 'pull the rug out" again, and drop back down to 1200 cals. So it stores every last calorie…
  • 7 hours a week would be considered very strenuous, especially when its all cardio work:) Believe me, you are likely more active during your day than you think. No one is sedentary unless they are in a wheelchair Kelly EM2WL Ambassador and Moderator
  • Stress can play a major factor on the scale. You have nee under a lot of stress over the past six months, and coupled with the lower calorie range, its no wonder the scale went up during that time. This might help explain why stress can wreck havoc on your plans http://eatmore2weighless.com/stress-makes-you-fat/ I implore…
  • This is all that matters:) Put the scale away. There is no reason you need to be watching it, it has no bearing on your success. If YOU can see changes happening in your body, and places where fat loss is occurring, why does it matter if the scale says something that doesn't reflect that? The scale means nothing. Put it…
  • welcome to the group @TBird135 ! Please take a look at our stickies at the top of the message boards which are filled with all the information you need to get you started on your journey. We are here to help! Kelly EM2WL Ambassador and Moderator
  • The gain is still likely based on TOM. Most women will see gains well past TOM and level out AFTER Ovulation. Some are the opposite.. You also have to look at the foods you ate. Were they heavy on the salt? Processed foods? Not enough water? No it wouldnt be possible to have a 4 pound gain eating at your level with no…
  • @Firefly0606 You are on a roll this week:) Yes finding TDEE can be a long process, especially 100 cals at a time, but the end result is what you are looking for. Going slowly up can keep gains to a minimum. I did it the "easy" way, which was jumping immediately to TDEE and the gains were insane. I cried for years..I think…
  • This. Keto has been done by a few EM2WLers in the past. It can be done. However I wouldnt recommend it unless you have medical reasons for needing it. However what you are saying you are doing, is a severe cut in calories, not so much the keto part, which puts you down the diet track again. it will yield you short term…
  • If you want to take your experiement to the next lvel, then yes, if you are hungry, eat more:) Thats the metabolism revving up which is a good thing. My average is around 3200... but ill eat upwards of 3600 if the day goes that way. Especially when doing heavy lifting, I always find the next day Im famished!! Listen to…
  • STS is great when you are on a reset. Most of us who did it in the past, were on reset, or took a maintenance break and ate tdee. You can do the first Meso cycle now, and then take two weeks off for your vacation. You can work around the time off and schedule when you can. Or you can wait til you are ready in the new year.…
  • This is where I see the problem. Your deficit is way too high. You are burning in excess of 3000 cals a day, but you are only eating 2000-2400? Your body is still not getting enough food, and thats why the fat loss is not happening. Your body is still starving for the metabolic healing, and its holding on to every last…
  • Personally, I dont think a stride length on your fitbit will account for a 400+ error, so I would continue eating at your current level and just see what happens. The higher the numbers can go and stay at a maintenance level, the better off you are when it is time to cut... higher calories now, higher cut level later. :)
