Congratulations on completing your first of many races. You write very well. I feel like I ran this race also. Last year I ran in a half in which there were a lot of walkers, and mid-race some people stopped to take selfies. I almost knocked some people down trying to find holes to run through. I am not sure if it is…

I was a nursing student 18 years ago. I gained at least 15 pounds...then accepted a job as a night shift nurse, gaining another 35 pounds. Those were the days. Also didn't work exercise into my day...big mistake. I could help you with some quick meals and support.

I love the stairmaster at my gym. The first time that I tried it, I only lasted 5 minutes, but it is a good workout. I finally achieved about 40-45 minutes. It is uncomfortable until you break a sweat (kind of like running), but then it feels great. I got out of the habit when it became popular, and I couldn't find an…

Regarding jello.....I was in Sarasota Fl this year and learned that jello was a rich person's dessert in the day (1920's). If you wanted to impress your friends, you served jello at the table. It has kind of lost its grandeur during the years.

My first run for the month may not be until Wednesday....a really late start for a November challenge. My first opportunity was yesterday, but lots of storms, and tornado watch for most of the state of Indiana. I changed my plans to go to the gym and "treadmill" it, but then the rain really picked up. My husband asked me…

I love Guinea Pigs too but am holding out for a gerbil. I have wanted one since the fifth grade...the first time I saw one. It was a classroom pet...when things got boring in class, I could always hear the little guy exercising on the wheel.

I love the Monumental....I have run in the half a couple of years ago and wanted to this year, but my husband made plans and it didn't work out. I may run in the marathon (also my first), if I can get the runs in...otherwise back to running the half. The trees are in full color the first week of November, and the…

@skippygirlsmom So sorry to hear about Skip's accident but at least she is okay. That's the important part! Regarding the lady on oxygen...yeah, she probably shouldn't be driving, but my dad who had dementia still continued to drive...no law to stop him ( a long dreary story). I hope that it is not the tie rod....very…

Ten pages already! I am setting my goal for 50 miles. I achieved 48 miles last month. I think that I might be able to get 50 this month. I hope to get started tomorrow. I recently purchased merino wool socks to help keep my feet warm running in colder weather. Billy Joel concert tomorrow. Can't wait!

I still have the 2nd generation Kindle, which I rarely use. I downloaded the Amazon Kindle app on my tablet, and mostly read books on the tablet....also late at night until I get sleepy.

@ereck44 Glad you were able to go down to Churchill Downs and the KD Museum! I think we've talked about how I'm a horseracing fan as well. For my birthday in September (my 30th!), my mom and I went down to Louisville and Lexington to do a bunch of horse stuff. We went on an early backside tour of Churchill Downs where we…

Thanks for replying. When I was a kid, I was as excited about the Kentucky Derby as I was about Christmas. This year's breeders cup challenge.....so many great horses. Bolt D'oro is another extremely fast 2 year old...in the juvenile.

So my goal for the month is 45 miles. I have a lot going on this month, including visiting my mom and my brother this month, and going to a few concerts. 10/10...6 miles. It rained all day. I knew that I had a small window of time to run between rains. I don't mind running in a light rain or sprinkling, but hate running in…

Gee that's weird....was their ecosystem disrupted? I haven't seen a toad or snake in 30 years probably except in a zoo. I got excited the other day when a praying mantis landed on my windshield in a parking lot. (I relocated him to a tree.)

So my goal for the month is 45 miles. I have a lot going on this month, including visiting my mom and my brother this month, and going to a few concerts. Speaking of which, so devastated by what happened over the weekend. As a concert goer, I can't imagine being sprayed by bullets when I am out trying to enjoy the sights…

Goal for the month 55 miles with a half scheduled at the end of the month. I am trying a "rest my legs" strategy in which a run a short distance and long distance in a week with lots of rest in between (filled with working at a job, sleeping, etc.) 9/1....9 miles... In zone all but 9 minutes. 13 minute/mile. 9/4...4 miles…

I am trying a "rest my legs" strategy in which a run a short distance and long distance in a week with lots of rest in between (filled with working at a job, sleeping, etc.) 9/27...taper week but ran 4 miles today.....mostly to get stretched. Is it similar to zucchini squash noodles? I have tried those these week. Without pasta sauce, it tastes like zucchini. With pasta sauce, like tomatoes and zucchini. With pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese, almost like pasta. No way I am I going to catch up to 20 pages of posts. Good luck to all who are racing this weekend.…

Say, I didn't know that @_nikkiwolf_ was from Europe. I couldn't find it in her profile. So, come to think of it, I have been to Europe twice and never saw any donuts. Perhaps a business opportunity. Hmmmmm.

@_nikkiwolf_ LOL! Running with eggs almost as dangerous as running with scissors. Great news about your knee! What do you mean you have never eaten a donut before last summer? They are great....esp the yeast...microwaved x 10 seconds. Also love the custard filled ones. In Indy, there is a bakery called Longs, in which…

I've been pretty hit or miss on this thread....mostly miss. My job has been crazy/busy this month. Starting tonight will be working 5 out of the next 6 nights, with average of 4 or 5 hours sleep. Goal for the month 55 miles with a half scheduled at the end of the month. I am trying a "rest my legs" strategy in which a run…

Thanks for posting this video. I started heel locking my shoes....going to try it for my run tomorrow and will report if it makes a difference. (Also my husband heel locked his shoes.) We had no idea that that was what we were supposed to do.
