I agree. I just don't think cocaine should be compared to sugar. That said, I actually think commonplace addictions like sugar can be much longer lasting and harder to shake (but not necessarily more "addictive") than hard drugs because they're so easily accessible and don't necessarily ruin your life. Sex addiction is one…

I think most guys will be willing to help a lady who needs help... I get the hesitance though and I'd be the same. You ladies think you're alone but I have many male friends who will quietly share almost exactly the same sentiments over a beer or ten. Almost everyone is afraid, that's why almost everyone doesn't reach…

Do you exercise? If you can train on 20g of carbs you are a scholar and a gentleman. In fact if you can maintain normal cognitive function on that you are a God amongst men. Seriously though... If I were you I'd bring a ****load of Green Tea and just sit back. Anything that contains energy might undo you. The movie theatre…

I'd just like to point out here that there is no way that sugar is more addictive than cocaine. I'm a science guy and I almost always defer to the evidence but in this case there's just no way. I respect your work in addiction and I know you must realise that Cocaine is not glamourised for no reason.

It depends. Some people have naturally thick waists and develop a strong and large midsection very easily. These people go on to be great strongmen and powerlifters! Seriously though, you're unlikely to gain a serious amount of mass in your obliques, especially without drugs, especially as a woman. Train them and enjoy the…

Think of it this way. You probably spend more hours at the gym then any other recreational activity you do. I'm not saying it's a social club but the more you get to know the people around you the more supportive and instructional the environment can become. When you talk to that guy who just squatted double his bodyweight…

I know right, the way she's talking you'd think we were having it on. I've only ever been saying that sugar is not inherently harmful and it should not be feared. Losing weight is hard enough, you don't need to add all this other stuff on top, especially when it is not founded in modern nutritional science.

1. Count your food intake 2. Exercise regularly 3. Track your progress 4. Give it time to work 5. Adjust intake accordingly Give your time body to adapt. It takes time. In 2 weeks if you're still gaining or haven't lost any weight, then lower your calories by 100-200/day. Leave it for a month. I guarantee you that the slow…

This is a legitimate concern. For people who use their voice for a living such as singers, actors, public broadcasters, etc, eliminating a food like dairy can be simply because it has undesirable effects on vocal mechanism rather than other health reasons.

;) Also this thread has gotten ridiculous. If you want to get jacked, do what a natural bodybuilder does (with a grain of salt). 1g/lb of either lean mass or bw, it doesn't matter. Then you experiment and reduce or increase and log what happens. You need to be your own experimenter and test subject. You can argue about…

Yeah my sis is quite badly lactose intolerant but loves cheese. The pills don't work as well for her though. They're more of a precautionary thing that she takes before eating at a dinner party or some such. It's funny, your friends always think you're joking and just slip a little bit in there..

I think a few facts are needed here. User signs up to defend a 5-month old thread about a specific documentary? FISHY.... Drinking water is great. When you wake up you are usually dehydrated so it's great to drink some water. I do this. But all the other stuff is a fantasy...

Anyone can see you're an intelligent person by the way you write. You're aware of this addiction you have and as cliched as it sounds, that really is the first step. I strongly recommend you get some help, whether it is seeing a doctor, psychologist, or even attending a meeting in your area like the previous poster…

If it's Brie, Camembert, Mozzarella or Boccocini I have no limit, so I try to keep them out of my house... But at the end of the day it's about calorie deficit. If you know you will ignore your limit and eat the whole damn thing, you have to be smart and just not buy it. Everyone has their weakness, and the first step is…

Totally. Maybe it comes down to some people just being *kitten*, hehe. We're all repulsed by things but there's no need to put others down because of it.

Yeah, I'd definitely see a medical professional if I broke my damn neck haha! Even if this was a board full of trained doctors and physical therapists, we still couldn't give any helpful advice. Even a front squat has the bar touching the front of your neck. Take care!

I eat a lot of bread for someone who is losing weight, apparently. Also if you can tolerate whey with water you either A) smoke a lot or B) spend too much for it

This is a really intense thread

It's funny in a way, this idea that these super fit people are making fun of you. Do you think they got that way by sitting around hating? It's not easy to look like that. They respect hard work, if they even notice you at all.

People are the way they are. Stupid statement I know, but when it comes to physical attraction it's just one of those things that is the way it is. I have a friend who is really into overweight women. I mean... REALLY... He's a good looking bloke, has his life together and what not, etc... He just has a thing for…

Preaching to the choir my friend :) We all have standards for what seems excessive and what doesn't. Today I spent 45 minutes foam rolling and stretching because that is a priority for me right now. Will we recommend these things to the "average" person though? We'll probably keep recommending the basics until they see…

Walking is great for the mind, body and soul. Walk every day for an hour. Just take some music or an audiobook and enjoy yourself. Don't waste your life on a treadmill, do it out in the fresh air. It doesn't matter if it's on an empty stomach, just get out and spend some time with yourself while doing a great thing for…

I'd just like to take some time to point out here that Joy Victoria knows what she is talking about and practises what she preaches. For those of you who don't know who she is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Pm08nUNTA

It's unlikely it was muscle because there is simply no way even a man could gain muscle at the same rate that fat can be lost. This is a common myth but the truth is if the scale isn't moving down, you're not in a caloric deficit. So the question is what has happened? Have you taken in less calories due to simply being…

Maybe you should get a trainer if you can afford it. Don't be so hard on yourself.

This is a case of skimming the surface and missing the fish just below. The point is not that peri-training nutrition has an effect, the point is that it is so small as to be unimportant for the average punter. An athlete will do whatever it takes for another 1%, whereas for real people with jobs, families, friends,…

You're right, I exaggerated. Many have seen excellent results from such a program and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that is fun to beat down on your chest or back for one whole session. However in the context of an individual experiencing constant DOMS on such a program, of which I know many, it is absurd since it is…

Sometimes the answer is staring you right in the ... uh... face :)

If someone offered you a million dollars to learn how to be "pretty good" at the guitar in a year, what would you do? Take that exact process and apply it to weight lifting. Read books, watch videos, ask people, and just try it out and see what happens. A good weight training program is the best thing you can do for your…
