  • Looking forward to seeing your progress. have a great weekend
  • Thank you! I don't flap my legs like that when I do them earlier in my workout or when I use the other rack. Its only about 3 inches lower but it makes a big difference. The leg flapping is totally subconscious! I do hope I'm inspiring other people. There's a lady at my gym that does dips and I always tell her she inspires…
  • Burpees. Who the hell came up with that one!!?
  • Put simply - it's up to you. Your calorie allowance has a deficit built in already so if you eat to zero you will still loose the weight over a period of time. If you choose not to eat your exercise calories you may well loose weight a little quicker as you are increasing the deficit but you also risk not having enough…
  • Do you have the app on your phone? You can watch videos of Medhi doing all the moves and showing good form. I also watch lots of YouTube videos of the different lifts. I really enjoyed Stronglifts but I have now moved on to Madcow. I changed when I got close to my upper weight range. The aim of stronglifts is to fail at a…
  • I have never had any 'training' as such but enjoy lifting and have never had any injuries. I watch a lot of YouTube videos and take all the advice I can. I am sensible about the amount I can lift and don't go any higher than I can without breaking good form. I also watch the other guys in the gym and ask advice from the…

  • I started at the age of 40 with an empty bar so it would of been 10kg or 22lbs. I've have got a lot stronger in the last 2 years but for me it's not about how much I can lift, it's about how much I can lift whilst holding form and time under pressure.

  • Here's a video of me doing my bosu assisted chin ups. I also have a squat video that I'd like a critique of. Is this the place to post it? https://www.dropbox.com/s/equ3wdm0l1b09k7/2015-06-26%2011.45.21.mp4?dl=0
  • I dont think OP means her periods have stopped. I think she means she has hit a period of time when she's not loosing. Unless I have understood incorrectly?
  • Rest day today. Walked the dog and had a little stroll while waiting for DD to get out of school. Diet all good. 120 calories left for when I finish work at 10pm. Packet of crisps, hot chocolate and bed!
  • Sadly my dog, Raymond, doesn't have the ability to run in a straight line or to keep moving without peeing for more than 100 yards so we cannot run together. We walk every day but running with him is just dangerous! just thought I'd add a pic of him because he's gorgeous!
  • Not many I wouldn't think. I wouldn't add any calories to my average daily calorie burn for that. Personally the only exercise I add to my activity level of 'lightly active' is the calories I burn at the gym. I don't add any of my steps from daily activity or dog walking or housework - I think they are accounted for in the…
  • Have you put all your stats into the settings for your Polar watch? I do remember having to put my age, sex, weight, height etc into the watch before it would give me any useful info (I had a FT4)
  • When I first started I did ct5k Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I did a beginners strength training programme twice a week. At the time I attended slimming world but knowing what I know now I would obviously just recommend a calorie deficit. With only 10lb to loose I'd go for just 0.5lb a week and take it nice and slow.…
  • I didn't see any progress until I started doing regular push ups, pull downs etc and started using the bosu ball. I'm finding I can hold the highest point for longer and drop slower than previously and I need a smaller bounce if you see what I mean!

  • I think I feel the same. I fear the fat gain. Why do you prefer recomp?
  • If recomp is eating at maintenance and lifting - presumably with the goal of growing muscle size - and bulking is eating at a calorie surplus and lifting to grow muscle size and subsequent fat. Is that right? I don't see the benefit in a bulk over a recomp. (except you get to eat more yummy food :)) This is great advice…
  • Thanks Guys I'll have a read of all the links when I get to sit down for longer than 2 minutes, hopefully this evening. From what you have both said I think finding maintenance rather than anything else should be my focus for the immediate future. I think I've probably fallen into the trap of assuming 'bulk' and 'cut' is…
  • For me I think I try a bit of both. My husband lost his best friend on Wednesday night - he was my friend to. We both went to our default settings - drink for hubby, food for me. I ate pretty much everything in sight but when all the snacks, chocolate, sweets, bread and ice cream were gone I stopped and got back to my…
  • If your workout today is a different body part or exercise from yesterday then I'd go. I wouldn't work a muscle that's already sore. It does help to keep things moving though so even a good walk will be better than nothing.

  • With the vivosmart and the vivofit you need a chest strap. Is that right?
  • We have a womens' only gym in our town. It's called Curves and from what I understand it's frequented mostly by older ladies. It's actually just closed down so I don't think it can of done that well. I do think there are some women who would feel more confident in a female only environment but I think that's mostly because…
  • Bella Falconi. That's some serious motivation! Something to aspire to.
  • Following this with interest. I'm in need of a new heart rate monitor since the death of my Polar FT4. Was thinking of a fitbit charge Hr as I wouldn't need to wear a chest strap.
