I guess we have different ideas of IIFYM. Just because I can fit something into my dietary configuration does not make it healthy. And, I guess 'healthy' is subjective- for my part, when there's more fat and sugar (carbs, as you rightly point out) than protein, I consider it unhealthy. If you don't, that's cool. Rock on…

OP, then don't "lie" to your kid. Your kid, your choice. Problem solved. , Maybe as they reach adulthood they'll respect your blunt honesty; conversely, maybe they'll resent you for robbing them of the magic that is childhood. Personally, no one I know was ever traumatized by finding out that Santa, the Easter bunny or the…

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my gym. I originally chose it because it has a daycare and a pool; I was 3 months pregnant with my 2nd child, and the pool was the selling point, because I would have given anything to have access to a pool in the last few months of pregnancy with my first! (we lived in the mountains where the closest gym…

LOL, I don't hate Ovaltine, I was being superfluous in my description; although, I have only had ovaltine once, as a kid, and I was expecting hot cocoa. It was not, and it scarred me for life. As for it not making a kid unhealthy or obese by having it occasionally- well, this friend gives it to her son as a sandwich…

The amount of sugar and the fact that there is three times more fat than protein. Per a 2 Tbsp serving, there's 200 calories, 12g fat, 21g sugar and 2g protein. As a reference point, Reeses Peanut Butter Bells: 5 piece serving gets you 210 cals, 13g fat, 22 sugars and 3g protein. Are PB cups (or their bell versions)…

Ooh, that sounds good!! Tks!

greek yogurt and granola. I usually get tired of something when i eat it as often as I have this, but it hasn't gotten old. Chobani fat-free raspberry yogurt and heartland original granola.... it's ridiculously good. and there's 20 grams of protein in that bad boy. Not a bad way to start the day, if you ask me.

Totally. Which is why it's incumbent upon us, the consumer, to be aware of what we're buying. I didn't realize how much fat and sugar went into nutella until I looked at the label. I bought it anyway, but with eyes wide open :)
-
Oh man, why didn't I think of that! THANKS!

Overindulgence. I love to bake- I am in my glory this time of year, but I have issues with only trying one of a batch, be it cookies, truffles, etc... I'm getting better about it, but it really is a struggle. On a more personal level, insecurity. I think it's my lifelong learning lesson/struggle thing... I spent many years…

This! It's like nails on a chalkboard. And when I see the word 'women' used (written) in the singular. It makes me twitchy.

LOL, the snot fruit! to be fair, I don't care for them when they're ripe/overripe. I like them a little green.... hahaha, green snot fruit!

Don't be sorry! Like you said, to each their own. My husband thinks I'm insane because I HATE banana anything except real bananas. His mother makes this banana pudding that is just... I can't even stand the smell of it.
-
LOL... you probably like ovaltine. (j/k)

Peanut butter toast with nutella... money right there.
-
Oh damn, nutella hot cocoa... and I have that Pinnacle whipped vodka... I think I know what I'm drinking when we decorate the tree tonight!!!
-
Right? I'm amazed it took me 33 years to figure it out. Like I said, in my ignorance, I equated it to ovaltine. I used up the whole 13oz jar I bought for the recipe so I bought another one a couple days ago. I was very anxious to use it on a pb sandwich.

LOL! I want a like button for this.
-
Woah- they make a spread???? I only knew of those delicious little cookies that are amazing with coffee...
-
Oh I'm sure! And I will! And I might ask them about doritos
-
Serious Sallies!!! I think you guys need some nutella!
-
I'm being satirical, and purposefully (trying) to be provocative with the title. :) I'm of the IIFYM mindset, so whatever works for someone is cool with me. And I love nutella too, that stuff is too yum to not love. I just find it ironic and funny that people think it's 'healthy'...
-
Yup. It's a staple, and so basic I don't even register it as breakfast...
-
Damn, that sounds good. I might have to pilfer some of my mother's vanilla protein powder; I only have chocolate.
-
Normally it's greek yogurt and granola... but I changed it up this morning and had the last of the turkey vegetable soup.

I think you have to figure out what works best for you, and then stick to it. This might take a little trial and error, but the only way you're going to be successful is to do what is easiest for you to maintain over the long term. It does little good to go on a "diet" and lose weight only to gain it back when you stop…

what I want to know is, why do we GAF?
-
OP- hot lemon water is good, but it should be incorporated into an already healthy diet comprised of protein, carbs and fat. My grandmother used to drink a cup of boiling water with lemon every morning when she first got up, but she also ate well. Are you going to ruin your metabolism doing a few days of what amounts to…

LOL! If we were doing Turkey day with my side of the family, this would be me, because my mother makes killer pies. However, we're spending it with my in-laws, and they snack all day and then don't have room for dessert, so I'm baking sweet breads in lieu of aforementioned pie... although, I am bringing Hazelnut-Mocha…
