Personally, I aim to be over or under by less than 100 cals. Perferrably under, but I won't be upset by being over a little. For most, I'd guess it's a psychological thing with the green and red numbers- from an early age we associate green with good and red with bad. So maybe for some it is that. As for liking- I can't…

What are their wages? I ask because when I was waiting tables, I averaged about 37K annually. That was in a small ski town in upstate NY, in a cozy adirondack bar & grill, and then my own family-run restaurant in the same town. If one is good at what they do in this business, there's a lot of money to be made in tips. The…

OP, if you want to make this a sustainable change for the long-haul (which is wise) you need to figure out how to enjoy the things that made you overweight, but do so in moderation. If, after eating clean and healthy all day, you have 400 calories left, there's no reason not to enjoy a serving of good quality dark…

 While I *never* thought I'd be a SAHM (hell, I was pretty sure I didn't even want kids until I met my husband) now that I am, I love it. Once my daughters are in school, I will reassess the situation, but barring running my own restaurant again (which is what I was doing when I got pregnant with my 1st), I don't…

OP, with that slight fluctuation, I'd bet it's water weight. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, as it will help with water retention. You said you aren't counting calories because it's too hard; if you're not going track cals, at least write down what you eat and how much of it you eat. Weight loss happens in the…

Same here. I've actually found that fasting (when in the proper mental and emotional state) has helped me in terms of willpower. Keep in mind, just because *you* don't have a particular issue, or that one thing does or does not work for you, that the same holds true for the next person.

It could be argued that if said toddler wasn't running up and down the isles there would have been no hair ruffling to be miffed about. Ironic situation is ironic.

But of course! Can't let them forget they're still playing catchup! All in good fun, though. Living in upstate NY, one is very likely to find as many Red Sox fans as Yankee or Mets...

Of course, you're on home turf. I wouldn't expect anything different wearing pinstripes in Boston.

I know- I think it's so sweet how little ones can make older folk so happy- it's the cutest thing. I *might* feel differently if some stranger put their finger in my baby's mouth, but it's never happened, so I guess I just don't think of it the same way. Also, my kids don't have any allergies, so if an elderly lady were to…

I know. But hey, who knows? maybe the dynamic will work...

They've kicked the curse and yet, Bosox fans can't help themselves... lol  27 baby. 27

Seriously, am I the only person here whose children haven't been mauled by old ppl? My kids are adorable and are frequently commented on by older folk, but they don't just walk up to them and start touching them- they ooh and ah and go-go over them, but they don't touch. I honestly can't recall it ever happening. Nor did…

Honestly, protein. I've found that when I don't eat an adequate amount of protein (especially in the morning) I have a more difficult time staying within my calorie goal. I get hungry faster and I don't feel satisfied as long. I like to get somewhere near 20 grams of protein in for breakfast. I've found when I do that, the…

I always hated cardio, mostly because I sucked at it. Cardiovascular endurance was not (and is not) my strong suit... BUT! After doing it consistently ( I suffered through it only for the sake of the calorie burn) I found there's a "sweet spot"- where the initial 'this sucks *kitten*' goes away, a rhythm develops and I…

Nice!!! :drinker:

Oh my God, I needed this cup this morning, when my husband made an 8 cup pot of coffee instead of a 10 (as per usual) and left me barely enough for my first cup. :grumble:

Tuna salad (my own, awesome concoction with green chiles!) on seeded rye bread, a handful of jalapeno cheetos, a banana and a square of dark chocolate. It was delicious.

Indian food- vindaloo? With respect to clubbing and going out- try switching to drinks that don't have sugary mixers. My go-to liquor drink is vodka and club soda. Limit yourself to a couple, and drink water along with or in between drinks. If you're not used to drinking an unsweetened cocktail, it will definitely last…

Well, that's why I do. That's why I mention it every time food compulsion or addiction comes up. Because someone always says "willpower". And they're not wrong. But, if it were just as simple as choosing not to eat one thing over another, many of us wouldn't be here. Also, I view these things through the prism of my own…

Because that's what it is. But the problem doesn't stop or resolve itself there- *why* there is a lack of self control or willpower is the thing to be tackled. Everyone has experienced a lack of willpower or self control at some point, be it food, emotions, spending money, etc... In order to gain control, one needs to…

First off- I'm going to warn you: this post has the potential to get crazy.... don't take offense to what anyone says; everyone is trying to help in their own way. You're probably not going to like a lot of the responses, but there will be a lot of good info that comes your way. Now, having said that... Willpower- there's…

Perhaps OP has read all five pages of comments and is too embarrassed to reply? That's my hope, because there is a lot of great advice.

haha, this! It also ends up getting me free drinks. :drinker:

I am also a SAHM, and like you, I pride myself on my culinary abilities and love to show them off. I cook and bake from scratch, and completely identify with using plenty of butter, eggs, etc... BUT- I also log my food. I actually find it easier to accurately log my intake when I'm eating things I've prepared, because I…

Coffee is an extremely important part of my morning. We also tend to make our strong, so I use regular half & half and some sugar. I do like flavored creamers, but I'm starting to think the calorie overload isn't worth it. With a lighter-brewed coffee, I can get away with just creamer, but I cannot drink it black. If…
