The BMI is a pile of crap! It's a bogus indicator of health and needs to go away.

The pink slime doesn't bother me. I think it's good that we're using all those extras from the animals instead of chucking them out. It's efficient and less wasteful. U.S. food companies have done a marvelous job of feeding us cheaply. It used to be that starvation was a bigger concern than obesity. Really, when you think…

dare2love81 has some good advice. I'd follow it and see what happens.

Same here! I found my ideal man, who is happily married to a wonderful woman, and that woman is not me. Sigh.....

I think she needs more time. Women's bodies work differently than men's, since we're more prone to build fat than muscle. A woman is rarely going to see results in 10 days.

Once I've perfected my peanut butter (with a crunchy chocolate shell) machete, machine gun, revolver, and tank, I'll be good to go. It melts in my mouth, not in my hand.

Eating bread crust will put hair on your chest.

It just needs to be said. I don't pay much attention to my sodium. I did a low sodium thing in the past, and it didn't make a lick of difference in how I felt, looked, and how much I weighed. Most likely you'll only retain water if you eat more sodium than your body is used to. Just try to be consistent with the sodium, but don't obsess over how…

tkaawa - you seem mid-20's to me. I think your confident, healthy smile makes you look more mature. You just seem really put together, which gives people the idea of maturity.
-
cindygemini - your age is actually really hard to place. I could put you anywhere from late 20's to late 30's.

Taking into account your height, weight, age, and activity (I put you as lightly active), your TDEE is 2107. That means you'd do best eating about 1600-1650 calories a day. If you use the TDEE method, you don't eat your exercise calories back unless you're doing heavy physical activity for that day. Lightly active =…

The jury is still out on whether a high sodium diet is actually unhealthy in the absence of a medical condition. It's another one of those FATS/CARBS/POTATOES/MEAT/EGGS ARE BAD FOR YOU!!! health scares that may end up biting us in the backside in the long run. Take everything you hear with a grain of....eh...salt.

Just to clarify, even a starving body will lose weight eventually. The idea of starvation mode meaning that you'll never, ever lose weight is not factual. However, a lot of really low calorie diets do lead to plateaus, and we're going to try and get you out of that plateau. :)

I think you should try increasing your intake by quite a bit. But do it slowly. Add about 100 calories to your daily diet every few days until you get to a higher goal. Do you know your TDEE? I think it may be a good idea to eat at your TDEE for awhile, maybe even a month, then start slowly decreasing your calories back…

Good job! And keep it up!! I started with just cardio and went from 300 lbs to 250 lbs. I also gained a lot of muscles in my legs and butt. Carrying my fat *kitten* around was strength-training in and of itself. Later on, you may add strength-training to give your body a boost. But, for now, cardio is great. :flowerforyou:

How many calories do you typically eat in a day? To me, it sounds like you may have suppressed your metabolism a bit by eating too little for too long. It might be time to start tacking on extra calories and go into maintenance eating (possibly even above that) for awhile, then slowly start cutting back again. There's also…

My GOAL is to be high on protein and fiber, low on carbohydrates, and not too high on sodium. But I don't do all the great with those numbers on some days. :)

I agree with everyone here, well most everyone, but I just want to add my pennies to the conversation. If you hate vegetables, don't eat them. You can lose weight without the things. Now, I think you should try all the suggestions here, the Low Sodium V-8, the smoothies, etc. But if that doesn't work, why punish yourself?…

Really? Does it need to be explained AGAIN? I'm declaring a pandemic of deliberate misapprehension of the term "Starvation Mode."
-
If you feel hungry, weak, fatigued, and deprived, eat them back. Or at least, eat some of them back.

Okay, peep, some cars come with running daytime light that you cannot turn off. I own such a car, and I'm way too cheap to buy a new one. The toilet paper thing...only in a first world country would the under/over toilet paper ever be considered an issue. Now that's I've gotten all high-browed here, it's time to disclose…

You're not going to gain weight by starving yourself. No one is saying that, and those who do are just wrong. However, what are you losing by eating so little? I mean, what are you netting a day, 0 calories? I'm guessing at this rate--strength-training or not--you're losing at an 80/20 ratio. That means 80% of the weight…

Yes, you can eat your exercise calories back! Try it and see if you lose weight. If it doesn't work, try another tactic. If it does, keep with it and ignore all the naysayers. Losing weight successfully is more about how YOU can handle your diet and exercise program than how quickly Johnny Big Pants lost 80 pounds. If the…

A Dietitian is focused solely on nutrition and how food affects the body. A doctor is focused on a lot of other things. The Dietitian I know is frustrated by our Starve/Gorge mentality. She says the reason we're so overweight is because we either stuff ourselves or starve ourselves. We feel guilty about eating and have an…

Starvation mode isn't a myth. It's most people's understanding of it that's a myth. For instance, the person who says "Anorexics starve to death and die, therefore starvation mode doesn't exist." However, anorexics keep living for a really long time on very few calories as their bodies self-cannibalize. They lose fat, but…

You probably went from eating a lot to dramatically cutting your calories overnight. This is, simply, a bad idea. You should always lower your calories gradually. It will make so you're not as hungry during the first week of dieting. There's also a chance you're not eating enough. By all means, fiber, protein, and fat are…

People CAN lose weight without exercise. I have no problem with that idea. However, why wouldn't you exercise? It makes me feel great. I sleep better. It helps with stress, anxiety, boredom, depression. It makes it so a fatty like me can keep up with the skinnies of the world. It makes me healthier, happier, and I even…
