That's funny. I thought I was 5' 4.5" for years. Then I was measured at 5' 5" a little while ago. I didn't believe it. I had several different people with a couple ways measure me. So I guess I was doing the opposite for years.

I'll stick with my sweetened tea. I like it better that way. But I don't go crazy since I want to taste the tea.

I base my friendships on such things too.

You got great advice. And I advised you not to put a wife against a husband. You don't have to take it. I just don't see the point. Go to the wife for advice but you already made it clear that you cannot afford her.

Don't. Why antagonize a situation? You knew what you wanted to do far before making this post so just do it and leave the dude to his outdated training. He's told you his point of view, you've told him yours. Rubbing his nose in it through his wife is poor form. This feels like a pointless, "Haha! I told you, you stupid…

Semantic infiltration is actually very important to the way people process and understand information. It's not nitpicking, it's keeping the tone of the discussion from being set by radical positions. The person that sets the tone is the person that controls perception. And, unfortunately, perception tends to be more…

I can think of something that would cause the absolute least harm possible and it would have the added benefit adding to, rather than taking away, from the ecosystem. Heck, it would even reduce the carbon footprint.

The miracles of coconut oil never seem to end.

You need a scale to find out you gained 22 lbs? I can tell when I've gained 5, 22 would be a different wardrobe.

And it seemed to have worked in this case. They should keep using that marketing if they can get people on the hook for it for 6 months.

You're welcome. I enjoyed participating and sharing my thoughts. But not beliefs, this isn't a religion for me. I prefer following supported facts and sharing them with others. Others go by feels, people affected by documentaries.

This. I eat far more foods with added sugar than I should for my macro balance, like chocolate, sugary cereals, cookies, etc, but I'm still losing weight. And the fat I used to have on my belly, it's gone. I do not like misinformation that parades itself around like alternative facts. Without a metabolic disorder, as long…

Let's be honest. You haven't looked at his research at all. You watched a documentary, bought into it and have been towing the line ever since.
-
That's the whole point though. One ridiculous comment deserves another.

Nature makes arsenic and asbestos. Are you going to eat that?

To be fair, Robert Lustig's work has been roundly criticized for it inaccuracy. The documentary based on his work has been debunked by a multitude of scientists that actually care about science and not pseudoscience.

Okay. We simply disagree on whether people are educated enough. But I've thought the tax was silly from the beginning of my posting in this thread. That last paragraph threw me. I'm not sure what you were trying to convey with it.

Less shrinkage with less cold water makes sense.
-
Whelp. If you're getting your information from documentaries and treating it like fact... @yarwell This is why I don't think people know exactly what to do.

50g is safe for someone without metabolic conditions that relate to sugar.

So much contradiction, especially the final bit.

No.

When I see people on here asking what a calorie deficit is or if (insert snake oil product here) will help them lose weight, when I see multiple types of shows that deal with weight and the obvious ignorance of many of the subjects and when I listen to the conversations of people in everyday life, I don't think your…

http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2007/07/obesity-is-contagious/ Interesting premise that relates to the OP's question. An excerpt: "Now, researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Diego have found that obesity is hardly a private matter. Reporting in the July 26 edition of the New…

Doesn't really answer the question. You think hearing that over simplified line is the extent of education required?

Talk to a profession who is qualified to give you advice concerning your history.

^^ What he said. They are chemically identical and treated the same by your body. The only difference between the sugar from the apple and the same grams from a spoon of granulated sugar is that the apple also comes packaged with some vits and minerals while the spoon does not. But unless you have a metabolic disorder that…

Meal timing and proportions are better planned around your personal preference. If it helps you to stick to your calorie goal, eat less in the early part of the day and more later. That's my preference for myself and has been a key factor in keeping me sucessful. On days where I'm still feeling munchy once I've eaten my…

It's been attempted? They've started teaching basic nutrition in UK schools?

You got right back to it? Sounds like you handled yourself perfectly. We were twins with our 'off the rails, right back to it' couple of days. We all get off track from time to time and everytime we recover gracefully, like you did, we can let go of a little bit more of that stress over failure. Five years ago, it would…
