THIS. The whole low-carb thing is overrated in my opinion. I don't think it makes a difference as long as you're not eating a ridiculous amount of carbs (as in, inhaling entire loaves of bread and buckets of rice and pasta). Just watch your total calorie intake, eat a healthy and balanced diet, exercise regularly and…

This! If I can squeeze a workout in on my birthday, I do it! But not because I feel I have to or because I "shouldn't skip a day" or any other nonsense like that. My birthday is MY day to make ME happy; if I want to do something, I do it and if I don't want to do something, I don't do it! Working out makes me feel…

I plan to relax and give myself a break! Seriously, part of learning learning to maintain a healthy lifestyle is learning to enjoy the holidays still. Being in "diet mode" ALL the time is tiring and honestly, no fun! So, my plan is to allow myself 5 (and only 5!) days off: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas…

 This made me so sad! I am so sorry that you had to go through all of this! I seriously admire you for coming out of that environment so strong! You are such a wise, strong, and beautiful woman! :flowerforyou:

:frown: I'm glad you didn't listen to her! Girl, you're gorgeous just as you are and you do NOT deserve people harassing you like that no matter what size you are! :flowerforyou:

That's ridiculous! 141 lbs at 5'4" is still within the healthy BMI range! I'm 5'4" and when I was 141 lbs I was by no means fat or even chubby. I was a healthy weight for my height, not all toned and fit looking, but just average and healthy.

Ummm...a little uncalled for, don't you think? (Unless I missed something and she's been trolling all over the place, that is.)

I never used to eat breakfast when I was overweight, oddly enough. Now? I've gotten my metabolism used to eating breakfast. Now I absolutely HAVE to eat breakfast or else I feel weak, off, and out-of-it until I get a chance to eat lunch. Most mornings I eat one of these options: -If I'm in a super rush, I grab some kind of…

 This makes me so sad! I'm sorry since it's not really my place to say this, but I feel I must...your sister is a HORRIBLE person! Seriously! She is cruel and unsupportive. It's almost as if she WANTS you to fail at getting healthy. (My guess? She probably does!) And on top of everything else, she BETRAYED you 4 TIMES…

Every possible variation of: fat, ugly, weird, gross, disgusting, awkward, and annoying. Also, variations of: prudish, naive, uptight, ditzy, stupid, and childish. I was called a lesbian repeatedly in middle and high school. I laugh about that now though because those people must have REAL poor gaydars if they…

I decided that I'm going to be Wonder Woman this year. Fun, simple, empowering, and I can make the costume myself! I'm going to make my costume a slightly modest version though. I'm not really into slutty costumes personally. Sexy and cute? Sure! But not slutty. I draw the line at slutty.

I can see a definite difference in your face! You look great! Congrats!

Some of the worst compliments I've gotten: "Hey, you've lost some weight. Before you were really fat, but now you're just sort of fat." "You look good chubby!" "You're going about this weight loss thing the wrong way. Now you have no butt or hips anymore and have a V-shaped body. You look like a man now." "You looked so…

I can relate. Sometimes I feel a little sad that I can never just relax when it comes to food. Birthdays, holidays, and parties are the worst. Everyone else around me can just eat whatever they feel like and how much of it they feel like and I have to count, calculate, and measure everything simply to avoid gaining half a…

I don't think anyone can really help you unless we know WHY you're struggling to eat less than 2000 calories/day. There's always a reason, and you need to figure out what that reason is. First, you should search for TDEE calculators online and plug your info into several of them to get an estimate of your TDEE, BMR, and a…

Add it! Don't sell yourself short! Getting fit and healthy is all about building new habits and one of those habits is living an active lifestyle. Exercise is an important part of an active lifestyle, but "exercise" doesn't always have to be killing yourself on the elliptical for an hour. Your exercise can be light and…

I hear ya, but that's just based on what I would do myself. If it were me, I would just deal with it and make the sacrifice because 1) she's my sister and she's blood, 2) it's her wedding day and not mine, and 3) she paid for the dress. I also said that though because the OP said that she didn't really care about how she…

This works for me! I basically just have to change my routine, workouts, and calories and then I start seeing results again. But honestly, every time I've plateued, it's because I started slacking: I wasn't being as active, I was eating too many calories, and eating a little too much fat. As soon as I started…

Sweetie....I think your mom is part of the problem here. She's probably contributed to your struggle with eating disorders. DON'T LISTEN TO HER! Please seek help from another older, wiser woman. Maybe a counselor, a friend's mom, someone at school or church, a sports coach that you know, anyone you feel you can trust!

OP, she's your sister, so because of that I don't think you should abandon her and quit the bridesmaid party, especially since you're the only one left! However, just because she's your sister and you're agreeing to be her bridesmaid doesn't mean you should let her step all over you and treat you like a doormat. This is…

Usually 500-600, sometimes less sometimes more, but never less than 350 or else I'm cranky about it! I also try to leave an extra 100-200 calories for dessert as well. I like my dessert and I insist on having it!

For some people, 1200 calories/day IS a healthy way to lose weight. Usually, those people are shorter and only slightly overweight women who either can't exercise much due to age or a medical condition or if they do exercise, they eat back their exercise calories so that they're really netting 1200 calories/day. As for…

Aww, don't think that way! Focus on loving your body because YOU think it's awesome! That's what I've been trying to do. I love the new things that my body can do, like run and lift weights. I love how much stronger my core is getting every month. I love how my legs are just starting to get some shape and definition. I'm…

Yeah, many celebrities send out that same message that their only value is their sex appeal. But many don't as well: there are many celebrities who show the world that they can be valued for many things about them and that their looks and sex appeal are only one of those things. That message, that a woman is only good for…

I'm in the same boat as you...except I'm a girl. :grumble: In many ways my life has changed since losing over 50 lbs. Obviously my confidence has increased a whole ton. The biggest change is how much nicer people are to me. Everyone in general is nicer and more forgiving towards me than they used to be. They don't get as…

In your bar example, you're probably not really being objectified, you're simply being lusted after. (And let's be honest, I think everyone enjoys being lusted after by someone they like!  ) Maybe you're misunderstanding what objectification is? Objectification is not looking at someone sexually, fantasizing…

OP, I'm truly sorry that you're not getting any support from your family. :flowerforyou: I know from personal experience how difficult that can be. Willpower isn't simply a decision. It's not as easy as just "telling yourself no." I'm convinced that willpower and control are habits, built over time. Many of us grew up with…
