If you want thick yogurt, Siggi's is pretty good. But it's not Greek style -- it's Icelandic style.

My town also has limits, unless you foster for the animal shelter or the Humane Society. In that case, it's waived. I like fostering for many reasons, one of which is that I can have puppies as often as I like (which is sad in itself that people dump them off before they're even six weeks old, and due to parvo concerns…

OK then -- address the stress level that hospitals place on nurses with high nurse-to-patient ratios, and short lunch breaks -- especially for those working 12s, those working grave and swing or rotating days and grave. The average age of nurses is 44.5, with the median age of 46. This means that there are a lot of nurses…

My daughter is a nurse, 5 feet tall, and weighs 104. She's tiny. She has to stand on a stepstool to do compressions. She can't turn a 300 lb. person by herself. So should they fire HER?

It's not selfish to live your life in a way true to yourself. Sometimes people who regret their own choices will attempt to guilt you into doing the same thing so they don't have to be jealous of your freedom. A child is a lifetime commitment. Do you want to know what selfish is? It's not people who choose not to have…

You know, if that's what they want, they should serve healthy food in their hospital cafeteria, give nurses longer than 30 minutes for lunch, put in a small workout room with exercise machines, and have a lower patient-to-nurse ratio to cut back on stress for their workers. This is particularly important for people who…

When I was on an internet dating site, I wound up making friends with some of the women in my general area. One of those ladies threw a party, and that's where I met my the man I later married...who had been on the same internet dating site (but we'd never connected). Those who choose internet dating might find it easier…

Weight and looks didn't matter to me when I was dating. What mattered were the other things I was looking for -- high intelligence, self-sufficiency, sense of fun, sense of adventure -- you get the picture. I also don't watch sports, so anyone whose noted that as their sole hobby was not someone I chose to date. In the…

When one is grading papers, the ink used for editing/grading should be a different color so the student can see what they did wrong. It can be ANY color other than what the student used. When I was teaching (and when I edited my kids' papers), I usually went for green or purple (but then, red is my least favorite color).…

I love blueberry unfrosted Poptarts, but they are almost impossible to find now in my city. So that's one temptation I can avoid. *sigh*

That's cold. I hope you don't work in healthcare.

Hotline number: 1-800-222-1222 They are always bored. Don't be afraid to call.

Call the poison hotline or go to the ER. If you don't have someone there at home with you, call someone to come over.

Lots of good ideas here. I'd add these: Many churches have food pantries and qualifying is easier than food stamps and you don't have to be a member. Also...many churches have potluck dinners on Wednesday night and they accept all comers, even those who don't bring food. Even if you're not a believer, you can go and they…

Call student affairs. With what education costs, they should be able to supply you with a gown that fits, and this cannot have been the first time they didn't have the correct size in stock. If the company that is supplying them can't find you a bigger one, then I'd go with what bearwith said -- wear something the same…

Some of the sodium levels for foods in the database are wrong...for example, I was using a fresh tomatoes database item and couldn't figure out why the sodium for them was so high...the entry was actually incorrect.

We split finances. In my first marriage, I didn't, and that husband insisted on handling all the money. That was completely terrible; unknown to me, he'd been spending money like crazy, and had even taken out credit cards in my name after he couldn't get any more. I think he spent us more than $100K in debt (I took on a…

Haha! Used to be one! RenCara, you'd be great in pharmaceutical sales.

I've been to Greece (and my husband's grandparents emigrated from Lesvos)...does that count? Lovely country, such amazing history!

Back when I was single, I joined a computer dating site which had a journal function...and promptly made a lot of female friends. One of them had a party, I attended...and met my future husband there. I guess it's like anything else -- you have to network a lot!

The whole foster dog thing is a lie...oh wait... (actually, I think my husband would prefer the Ringo Starr scenario over the foster dogs, haha!).
-
For more than 20 years, I've been giving experimental drugs to people, I foster dogs, and Ringo Starr is my boyfriend (OK, only two of these are true).

OP: I think you need to learn to stick up for yourself.

My hubs is supportive -- but I've had to go back to doing all my own cooking. :)

Oh wow, both these sound nice and I never would ahve considered it!

Sometimes I use the nonfat or lowfat sour cream (or a combination of the two). A couple tablespoons of leftover chili or spaghetti sauce is nice, too.
