For myself...but also my job. When I finished nursing school I was at my highest weight. My strength and balance were minimal so I was afraid I was either going to hurt a patient or hurt myself. Also, I realized educating patients on making healthy choices has no impact coming from someone that is morbidly obese. My job…

I make quick steel cut oats everyday - can microwave in 3-4 min. and for the sweetener I use Torani Sugar Free Brown Sugar Cinnamon syrup or Sugar free Salted Caramel syrup. Very good!

Telling her that the plan she is considering is " super stupid' is not constructive feedback! I eat about 8-10 egg white a day and choose to get my fat sources not only from the yolks at times but also from other means - avocado, olive oil, nuts, ect. If she is on a particular plan that limits her fats, then 5 grams of fat…

On the treadmill, you can do hill sprints for interval training. First warm up by walking for about 5-10 min at a moderate speed . Then put the treadmill at an incline of 5-6. Increase your speed to a sprint - that speed will vary for everyone. Sprint for about 30 seconds and then drop your speed to a fast walk and recover…

Gastric Surgery works for many people, however it is a very big lifestyle change. You will have to monitor what you eat at all times, suffer through nausea if you take in too much food and it's not the magic cure for obesity - which unfortunately a lot of people think. You will still have to make healthy choices with your…

If you can afford it...I would get a reputable trainer for a few sessions. Start out basic with lighter weights. Have the trainer put together 3 different routines that you can rotate through on your own. Hopefully the trainer will correct your form as you are working with him/her - because preventing injury is #1. I think…

I have had a trainer for over 3 years and he has been worth every penny! He keeps me on track, motivated and pushes me to achieve new goals. However, do your research before hiring someone. Ask fellow gym members, find out the trainers background and I think one of the best ways is to go to the gym and watch the trainers…

I'm a nurse and have the same issue...can't get away to grab a snack or even eat lunch on days. I always have a couple of shaker bottles of protein powder in my bag. I can mix them up and drink them at the nurses station - which gives me about 35 grams of protein. I also have individual bags of 1 oz jerky and 1 cheese…

Do you incorporate weights into your workout routine? If not, I would...increase in muscle mass is going to increase your metabolism and burn more fat. Also, as others have said 1300 calories is too low...right now your body is just holding onto every calorie/fat.
-
1200 is very low, especially if you are exercising. It's better to take the weight loss at a slower pace and eat more calories - it will be easier to maintain once you reach your goal. Also, if you are taking in too few calories for your activity level, your body will start to just "hold on" to every calorie it can and…

That's low, you also have to consider your exercise. If you are exercising regularly, you need to take in more calories. Plus you have to look at the type of exercise you are doing. If you are lifting weights, which I highly recommend for fat loss, then your body needs those extra calories.
