  • Everyone is doing so well!! Yesterday I combined my run with a errand I need to do, so I ran to the local CVS and back. I really need to find my fanny pack and my small backpack to help with my errands when I do this, as carrying the plastic bag in one hand or the other, on the way back, made me feel unbalanced. I've got…
  • I have a long run today after two relatively light days. Just going to do 10k again, but if I stay on track, I will have run 22 miles this week. So far this April it's been 19, 19, 20.5, and now 22 miles/week. Enjoy the rest day, Sherry. Sorry about the snow, Laura, but glad that the exercise is going well. I hope your…
  • Work then dog classes then 30 minute run. Now sleep!
  • There's a group with plenty of advice and support http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/47-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k-
  • I agree with what everyone has said, but wanted to add one thing. Sometimes the scaled down version is just not what you want. For example I had a craving for a pancake breakfast topped with fruit and whipped cream. I really wanted it. I didn't want just one pancake and to save the rest for later. It's never that soft…
  • Excellent idea!

  • Good Morning All! Have my trainer workout tonight. It looks like a nice day, assuming no thunderstorm, and I plan to run to and from the workout. I hope that things get better for you, Marla. That you feel better, Laura. And that you come up with a good future workout plan, Sherry.
  • Glad that the workout went well, Laura. Today I wasn't able to get much walking in during the day itself, but tonight Fells and I got in a 4 mile run and I followed it by 20 minutes of body conditioning work. The run felt really easy. It's so nice when that happens!
  • Great half marathon, Tim! Thanks for the description of the run. You and your wife did wonderfully! i had a really nice walk along the water today too, Petra. In my case it was the Bay. I wanted it to be a run, but I wasn't dressed properly for a run (my pants kept falling down) so the dogs and I just walked in the park…
  • Happy Easter to all! Didn't have time for exercise until late afternoon, but got out to a local park then with the dogs. The plan was for us to be there about 2 hours and to run 2-4 miles as well as walk the paths. I did not dress in my running clothes though. I don't know what I was thinking! We got there and started out,…
  • A day late, but wanted to get it in. On Saturday, I drove three hours north into the Pocono Mountains for a nosework test. I spent the day walking up and down hills off and on while taking the test with Fells. I tried to do some running, but we were basically on the side of a mountain, hard going up, and scary going down.…
  • Week 2 complete! more than 30 active minutes every day but Saturday (yesterday) and more than 12K steps every day with more than 20k steps on Friday.
  • Ceci, hope things went well with your run tonight. Romy, wear the shirt proudly! I looked up the race on it's website and I bet it's a really fun shirt to wear. Today was my long run, so I ran 10k. Due to other factors (RAWR), I've been running a lot of little runs this week, except on Tuesday and today when i ran more. I…
  • Tried it out today. When i was at the supermarket this afternoon I bought a strawberry cream cheese filled cupcake. As I unpacked my groceries I put the cupcake on the counter to encourage me to do my long run today. I did the run, thinking about the cupcake, and i didn't do any walking at all. Success! It was a good…

  • Sherry, your "rest" day sounds interesting. I hope the rest of the holiday weekend is a little calmer. Enjoy the holiday with the kids! Laura, glad that you're improving. It's probably best to take it easy until you're fully healed. Long run for me today. Could get to it until 6:30 pm due to errands and such, but did run…
  • Tagging on to Varda's question, but I think that it applies too. What counts as "running" for a given day? If while waiting for something, as happened last night, I run a mile or a mile and a half and then an hour or so later run another mile, not a race speed, but faster than easy. Would that count as a run, as far as,…
  • I don't believe that you should suffer to be healthy and I agree that a person would have a very hard time sustaining a healthy weight if it caused suffering all the time. I don't like being hungry! So, I would look at your goals and your habits and determine what you can and cannot do. Are you currently, even 16 lbs up…
  • I bring dog treats, dog on harness and lead, and keys to my house. That's it. Sometimes I'll bring my phone. I do really need to get a RoadID, I think.
  • Sherry, sounds like rest would be a good idea for today. Hope you enjoy the day with your family. Sorry about the snow, Laura. Squeezed exercise in last night. On the way home from dog training class I stopped at work, left the dogs in the car, and ran 2 miles on the treadmill. I wasn't really dressed properly, had on old…
  • We're supposed to get snow tonight too. Crazy winter! Ours won't stick though. Sorry that you're still feeling tired, Laura. Take care of yourself and don't push. You need to give yourself time to heal. Hope the snow isn't too bad. Congratulations on keeping up with the 30 DS, Diana! You're going to complete it! Ran to the…
  • Loved reading about your race and the strategy. Glad that you could pull out some more energy at the end! Terrific!
  • I've been enjoying the offerings at my work since January. Unfortunately there's nothing available to me right now. There was a Fit & Tone class every Monday at noon starting in mid-January. It went for 8 weeks. Then there was a 4 week, twice a week, RunSmart class that I LOVED, but it ended last week. Right now, the only…
  • Quick check in today. Went to work. Came home. Ran 3.75 miles with Fells. Did more work. Will do trainer homework and other body weight stuff, then bed.
  • A lot of being successful here is just finding out what works for you. Try things. Spend the first week or so just recording what you eat. Don't get hung up on eating this or that. Just record it. Then start cutting it down to a reasonable number. Reasonable for you. If you're starving all the time or weak just miserable,…
  • Hope that whatever was wrong with your foot was temporary, Rindy, and that you don't experience it again. I ran a quick 2.5 mile run last night after getting back home after a dog event. I found it interesting to compare it with my 10k training run on Friday. On Friday, by the end, my legs were feeling like rubber, bending…
  • Sounds like you might have gone out to fast, Zanne. It great that you finished it! Terrific! And you're right, likely your next 10k will be as PR. It certainly wasn't a bad time for a first 10k.
  • Yes! Congratulations Tim, to you and your wife! You two are burning up the trails. Sorry, Romy. Prairie Dog? I didn't know that you had Prairie Dogs. Congratulations for finishing it! I know how aggrevating it can be when you misjudge what you should be wearing. Hopefully we all will figure it out with more experience. I…
  • Aren't you currently in a bulking phase? I would love a scale like this, however I suspect that it is a perverse scale. I would bet that it only does the magishrink with those who want to GAIN weight. For me, who would prefer to lose, (or is it loose pounds -- maybe they'd like to be loose?), anyway, for me, it is likely…
  • My original plan for this month was to increase my long run. I have increased my running and am doing more miles per week than I have ever done, but not by increasing my long run, but by increasing my number of runs per week. This is working for me, so I guess that next month will be the increase my long run month.
  • Goal 30 Active minutes or 12k steps each day. Turns out that getting the steps wasn't as hard as I thought. Active Minutes Steps April 7: 47 14845 April 8: 53 17456 April 9: 19 12342 April 10: 37 11243 April 11: 6 13472 April 12: 74 15693 April 13: 34 12132
