I'm looking forward to a run today after not doing one yesterday. Also need to do my trainer's homework today and take Fells to flyball class. I've normally been doing my long runs on Friday and occasionally on Sunday. I thought about this last night and decided that it will be Sunday this week because of the 5k race I…

I had a very similar life to yours for 25+ years and still do, to a point, There is no way that I can regularly go to the gym and live my life the way I want to and get everything in. So I tried many things. Some worked for me and some didn't. -- Do active video games - there's Just Dance, various exercise games, Dance…

Rest day for me! It's been a couple weeks since I had a rest day, so I'm enjoying this one!

I like broccoli, kale, or spinach. Steam or roast with seasonings and just a little olive oil. They are all natural, healthy, and if you eat them every day, they are guaranteed to help you lose weight *. They can be found at any grocery store. * In additon to a low calorie balanced diet

If you are saying that you are in a profession where you must be super-skinny to succeed (actress, professional model or dancer sort of thing), then you may possibly be doomed to always be restricting calories below what your body needs. Then maybe yes, it will be very tough. If you aren't in one of those body obessessed…

Glad you got the run in Laura. Also glad that you didn't hate it. Hope you're not too sore tomorrow. Maureen, sounds like you're restarting with a bang! I have friends in Nova Scotia. I love going up there and usually manage it every three years or so. I'm hoping next year to maybe do the "Not Since Moses" run on the way…

I found this funny because my Mom really does have a degree in nutrition, so it wouldn't work terribly well with her. No point either as I don't get harassed by family or friends. I had a few friends make some remarks in the very beginning, but other friends shut them up. I have friends that run the gamut from very…

Ran 4 miles last night. It was a nice run. Beautiful weather! This coming Saturday I signed up for my second race ever. It's another local 5k. Run by the county recreation department. It will be held in the same place I tried to run a few weeks ago, just for fun. I failed because I was wearing jeans and they kept falling…

Hmm, so for what I think of, where the runs/walks will be short and I will have plenty of changes of clothes semi-available, this might work! I'll just make sure I have a back up tech shirt around. It might not match as well, but it'll only be used if I need it, due to wetness.

Fells and I got out and did our 4 mile run today. Between not having time and feeling ill a the end of last week I have done no strength training since my last trainer workout on Tuesday. This will have to change this week!

It's great reading how everyone is doing. Glad that running is getting better for you, Laura. I think as things become more work and less play, more "have to" rather than "want to", we all lose enthusiasm. It was really important to me when I moved from 30 minutes to 60 minutes of running to add in some fun runs so that I…

My regular shoes are 8 or 8.5. My first running shoes were 9.5 and my toe went purple/black (I do have Morton's toe). My second are 10.5 and while my nails haven't gone purple lately, I do maintain a callus on the end of both second toes. Your shoes could be too small.

Terrific! Survived another flyball day. Then did the 30 minute run. Sore, tired, and ate too much all weekend. Ready to go back to normal tomorrow!

I ran over 85 miles in April. This is the most miles I have ever run in one month. My goals for May are to run 85 miles again. It will be hard because I will be on the road a lot. Also stay at or below maintenance despite not being home much of the month. So stay at the same weight or lose a bit.

Brief check in. Sorry about the toe, Sherry! Good luck with the moves Diana. Been a little under the weather lately. Probably due to all the pollen in the air. Did get my small runs (2.5 miles) in during the last three days. And a bit of stretching, 5 minutes each day. Finally, tonight, my legs aren't sore all the time.…

I agree with everyone. My personal ways (in addition to what others have said) is distraction and making sure I never get really hungry. I want to eat and make poor food choices when I'm bored, stressed, or hungry. So for the first two I do distraction. Exercise is the best distraction, when I'm bored or stressed, as it…

Great idea! I ran with my sisters during the Christmas to New Years break and that would have been a good idea when I ran with the sister closest to me in age. She was really having trouble with the running. My other two sisters can run rings around me. Ran to my trainer workout today and back. 1.5 miles each way. I was…

Hope you got through the treadmill running and that the new shoes helped, Laura. Also hope that Spring comes soon and stays! Glad that you got the run in, Sherry. Did my run to the trainers and back today. It's pouring rain here and will be for days according to the predictions. It's also 45 F. Not really a problems as the…

I keep adjust my goals, so I haven't reached them yet. On the other hand, I'm quite happy where I am now compared to where I was. I am 1 lb from my original goal weight. It took me 16 months to get here. I am in no rush to get to my final goals, once I fully figure them out. Now, as long as I am improving as far as…

Great first 10k!

Ah! I realized why my steps were so low last Thursday. I forgot to wear my pedometer to work and so didn't get it on until I went for the run. The reason I remembered right now was because I just realized that I forgot the pedometer today, too.

I don't know that I would count this as a no exercise day, Sherry. Not the exercise you needed or wanted, but plenty of exercise nevertheless. Hope that everyone is dry and happier now. My exercise plans today are a 3-4 mile run and trainer homework.

Welcome Stephanie! Suzanne, great race! Congratulations about the race and about the wedding!! Exciting times! Petra, sounds like a long run to me. :) I didn't get my long run in, but ran 12 miles this weekend, in three runs Friday evening through Sunday morning. This brings my weekly (Mon to Sun) total up to 23 miles and…

Sorry about the snow, Laura! Hope that Spring comes soon! Enjoy your trip, Marla! Good luck with the resolutions, Sherry. Hope that by the end of the month you are happy about where your exercise and diet is going. This has been a big running month for me and this week in particular I've done 23 miles from Monday through…

My May is going to start busy, lull for a week, and then get busier. By the first week of June I'll have traveled to St Louis, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Toronto with the dogs and have run a flyball tournament, secretaried an earthdog trial, attended two Border Terrier National Specialties (US and Canada) and attended a…

Sorry that you missed your nap today, Sherry. Other things caused problems so I wasn't able to get out long enough to do my long run yesterday. I did get 3.67 miles in yesterday and slightly less then 4 miles today, so I'm calling it 7 to 7.5 miles. So with a similar sort of run tomorrow morning, I'll get in all the miles…

Really terrific hanging on and getting it done! I didn't do my long run yesterday and won't get it done this weekend for various reasons, but I will get 11 miles in during the Friday to Sunday period. I've done 7.5 miles of it so far. So I will be up to 22 miles this week as planned. I also just signed up for a virtual…
