internet dramas = double post. oops

I hear that. Mine included being diagnosed with a chronic illness i'll be medicated for for life, losing my nana, my dad getting diagnosed with cancer twice, losing friendships, finally meeting a great guy only to have him end up moving to the states quite soon in the piece, a couple of relationship dramas including an ex…

i do mine on my phone. that way i can read through a list of positives whenever i want.

My depression was situational. Situational simply means caused by the situation, and therefore less likely to recur if the situation has changed or the patient is better equipped to deal with it. Nothing in it states lesser, or lower levels. It's not a competition...more power to people like you who have it in perspective…

this thread reminds me of one of the biggest issues with depression: most people who have suffered feel very alone and like noone understands them. Hopefully lots of people sharing like this can only be of use.

don't give up, if you really want to get to GW. Just make a few small changes. Eat at TDEE - a %age. Stay positive. Stay within calories. Drink water. Move. and tick off mini goals, don't just focus on the ultimate one.
-
I took the meds and regretted it immensely. At the time it was right but if I was ever to drown in the black pool again I'd look to alternatives.
-
I medicated it. Now that I'm off the meds (over a year now!) I work out, and complain lol. I don't let things fester, I get it out and get over it. Then I go distract myself, usually with shopping, a drive or a workout.

also, tick off mini milestones. I have a list on my phone of when each kg vanished, and when I got into each size, into my goal jeans etc etc. Makes for pretty inspiring reading when the scales are being a$$h0les :p I also have comparison pics taken one year apart, and I keep a visual reminder of each next mini goal on my…

No, it's not. You drink 1L of water. You've put in 1kg. eventually that comes out again. But you don't pee a litre for every litre you ingest, immediately. You don't necessarily dispose of things in the same time frame as you eat them. So if you're retaining water then there could be extra on the scale the next time you…

my goal was never weight loss, it was control. My goal weight was arbitrary, really. Now I've focused on a goal number because I have control of the process - and for someone like me with a history of food and exercise abuse, that's gold. I think where people fail is 'I have to lose x kg / fit this specific garment by this…

This is something I wish i'd done re measurements. I did re photos and I go back to those a LOT. If you can't see too big a difference, post it to Facebook or something and soon you'll see that everyone else sees it!

one thing i have learned in 301 days of MFP is that you have to be in the right headspace to lose weight. You sound to me like you're still eating (overeating in some cases) because of another reason. For me, I stopped caring about myself when I was depressed. As I healed mentally, I started to treat myself differently and…

changed the batteries yest...and measured at a new low last night and only a few hundred gm heavier this morning. WOOHOO!
-
Hmm. we have to stomp on ours to make them go. I weigh around 180 lb and my flatmate is huge, so maybe we've broken them!
-
over a year, probably not the scales. over ten seconds, definitely the scales.
-
bugger! might be buy-a-new-one time then
-
i like mine, it's clearly showed me the run down from 105 kg to 80. but now it's gone mental.
-
my 'fat' doesn't miraculously increase 4 kg /10 lb in ten seconds. The two are NOTHING alike. Just saying.
-
i think this may be where we are with these ones, but step one is a new battery :)
-
Haha yeah ours alters if you shift your weight....
-
yeah i'd just like to 100% KNOW haha.
-
I totally take my weight off the first two numbers (in kg) because the one after the decimal is nearly always the difference between eating something or going to the loo! Crazy re the barbells. I was overseas last month and my case was 2 kg different between the scales at home and the airport.
-
haha yeah our bathroom floor does this too, but it's tiled so i put the scales in the same place usually. The floor has a slight slope to drain water if the bath overflows.

5kg / 11lb to GW. I want it by Xmas. Realistic? I think so.
-
>> clearly you're not female :p Utter crap. Your weight CAN change. Yes it's to do with what you put in and dispose of, however it's not as simple as what you eat and drink. Water retention, working out, any number of things can affect it. It's not a true gain, as it's temporary but it shows as a gain and that is…
-
GW is 11 lb away and I'd dearly love to have that sorted by xmas!
-
Yep. Have self-starved in the past, over excercised at times and never been happy with food, because it always felt like it was all too complicated. Now I eat what I want, though I try not to go too high fat/sugar too often and try to think of the fibre content, and I've lost 25 kg in 298 days. I drink wine. I eat…

mine can fluctuate by twice that over the course of a week. I usually weigh the least on the same day every week. For ages that was Saturday. Now it seems to be settling on Wednesday... it's a bit annoying when you weigh in low, and then it goes up again, but it always ends up resetting lower after a week or so.
-
interesting. None of those options are practical or appropriate for me personally, but I like the idea of my body settling. My current weight is actually my initial goal weight, but I'd like to drop another 5kg before i'm 'done'
