  • 95 miles is nothing to sneeze at. Just think of all those people who didn't make it to 50 miles in the 50 mile challenge.
  • 1. I have a Lifespan Fitness DT-5 with the Treadmill that came with it (rated at 6 hrs per day). 2. When I started out, I was doing 1.5 MPH, now I do 2.4 MPH for most meetings (and right this second) and 2.1 MPH if I am really trying to type a lot. 3. I walk between 2.5 and 4 hours a day on mine typically. 4. I wear a…
  • 10/1 - 10/7 : 33.65 10/8 - 10/14 : 39.53 10/15 - 10/21 : 32.75 10/22 - 1028: 41 Total through 10/21: 146.93 I have managed to already exceed my 150 mile target when I include today's walk, maybe I can make it to 175 by Thursday.

  • You definitely want to talk to a doctor, this could also be some deficiency like protein or other micro nutrient limitations. Hopefully it is just a shoe fit issue as that would likely be a more easily adjusted item.
  • I work crazy hours so to get in activity I bought a treadmill desk. It doesn't do incline and it is a slow walk speed (2.2 MPH is what I typically use while working) so I am really limited on variability. All the miles I am listing are only treadmill miles, so the 3 miles I did Sunday walking around outside isn't on my…

  • So my longest single day today, just did 11.33 miles on the treadmill. I think my legs may fall off later, but that is okay. My wife is still pushing me to do 150 miles so I will likely adjust out to that soon. 10/1 - 10/7 : 33.65 10/8 - 10/14 : 39.53 10/15 - 10/21 : 32.75 Total through 10/21: 105.93
  • First: FitBit Ultra - It is small, easy to use, syncs wirelessly to my PC (and eventually to my phone), has an easy to use app for my phone to track progress. Second: Food Scale - wouldn't be where I am now without really tracking my food consumption. Third: LifeSpan Fitness Treadmill Desk - 90% of my weekly activity is…
  • My wife and I have Fitbit Ultras that we bought back in March after owning the Fitbit Zips since Christmas. We really wanted the sleep and staircase measurements. I am actually walking right now (treadmill desk) for my longest single day walk since I started using the fitbit, over 25k steps (about 26k or so) and just over…
  • I am a vegetarian and most of my protein comes from Greek Yogurt. I use plain non-fat greek yogurt a lot. I bake with it, I eat it with fruit, I have used it in cheese sauce of nachos. I also do have whey protein powder and have had soy protein powder as well. Don't use either a ton. Beyond that a lot of cheese, milk, nuts…
  • Yea not so much beating myself up, I just set myself a challenge for treadmill steps and miles for the month :). I use a treadmill desk so I walk 2 to 3 hours each day at work so all the miles for my challenge are at that desk and most of them are during the work week. But yes every step and pedal counts toward my targets…
  • So I didn't walk on Saturday as we went for a 2 hour bike ride instead, and then Sunday I did a bunch of walking to go shopping but since it isn't on my treadmill I don't record it, so my weekend was empty for this challenge. I have done a good number today and will possibly exceed the 100 mile mark by end of day if I do…
  • In correct coorelation, this study talks about how well people kept off weight after based on dietary changes. This did not talk about how quickly they lost weight based on those dietary differences in fact based on just the excerpt you posted both deficits resulted in the same loss. Again not about weight loss but about…
  • While you might feel this way, and it may very well be working out for you for various reasons, there has been little to no scientific proof that 1 calorie protein versus 1 calorie carb are significantly different on a daily consumption basis. If you are at a deficit you will consume the calories you consume first then…
  • As others have mentioned, if you eat lighter going in and out of the holiday, it averages out. Now if you consume your entire week deficit and then some well you are going to end up with a bad week, but it is just one week and you have a lifetime of weeks to balance it out. If my wife and I are at home, we will make a…
  • So far I am over 85 miles walked on my treadmill since October 1, here are my first two week numbers October 1 - 7 : 33.65 October 8 - 14: 39.53 Going to be a lower week this week but hopefully by about the 21st I should hit 100 miles for the month.

  • I take a Nature's Made multi complete vitamin with dinner based on recommendations that I take a multi-vitamin. I figure a multi helps to even out days when I may be nutritionally light in some area especially while on a 2lb per week deficit.
  • We have a magic bullet and really liked it until we bought our Vitamix and now we are hooked on that. We still have the bullet for small jobs that just don't make sense in a full sized blender but the bullet line has no variability in speed so it doesn't offer a lot of options. From my understanding the Nutra Bullet is…
  • Great job, keep up the good work.
  • Not sure I will get a chance to update over the weekend or on Monday so I will update today and again when I get a chance early next week. 10/1- 7 : 33.65 miles 10/8 - 10/11 : 29.3 miles. Total through 10/11 ~ 62.9

  • while I won't completely disagree, I think 1 year is probably overkill and a bad move. You should likely have 3 months in fully liquid savings, 3 - 6 month beyond that in 3 to 6 month plans which you can draw on within 3 month with little or no penalty and what you do beyond that to keep solvent in a long term situation…
  • go to tickerfactory.com and create a ticker. Once you get to the end there will be an image link. To add it to your post copy that URL and past it with [ img ]LINKHERE [ / img ] around it without the spaces.
  • Week 1 update (October 1 - 7): 33.28 Miles.
  • Joined the 50 Mile walk challenge because I couldn't find this one. Guess I can keep both updated given I am using the tracker and only need to come onto the topic once a week. Here is my tracker so far, just under 30 miles for the first 7 days (walking while I type this so should get over 30 before I stop today). So Oct…
  • Guess I will at least start here: Oct 1: 4.89 Oct 2: 5.81 Oct 3: 6.54 Total: 17.24 (21.3 includes this morning as I just use a spreadsheet to track treadmill walks).
  • Anyone know if there is a thread maybe for 100 miles in October? I just checked my September number and did 86.1 miles and I have completed 21.3 miles so far in October. I will happily do mine here with this one and just try to double the challenge goal, but was wondering if anyone else is shooting for 100 miles (this is…
  • Body weight will naturally vary within about 2 to 4 lbs depending on your weight. THis can be week to week or day to day even. What you should be watching is long term trend. And if you dropped 8lbs in 3 weeks it is likely that this is just that normal variance. I dropped 1.3 lbs since yesterday, tomorrow I will probably…
