Oh I know, I was just trying to give her an idea. If breaking it down would make it feasible, then I would break down everything into numbers all the time!

Pool season starts this weekend! :P I am still waiting for a thread on "How to lose 20 lbs before Memorial Day".
-
To lose 1 lbs, you need to create a calorie deficit of 3500. If you want to lose 100 lbs in 6 weeks, that's 16 lbs in a week, and that would come to a weekly calorie deficit of 58300 calories (give or take, of course, if my calculator isn't lying to me). I'm with the others: No If you are overweight, a 2 lbs loss per week…

Do you think you gained weight because of the medication? I am just asking because it seems counterintuitive to me. Ideally, Synthroid helps to restore the balance of T4/T3 again, and with that you should be able to lose weight easier again. I have never stopped losing weight, even with my very underactive thyroid over the…

You're welcome! Hope you'll have a great vacation!

This.

With only 10lbs to lose, 0.5lbs per week is a good rate. Keep at it, and you'll be back where you want to be in no time :)

Sorry to be brutally honest here, but you are overreacting. You would have to eat 3500 calories to gain a pound. Maybe you did, but most likely you did not. I really don't understand how you could even think that you won't be able to lose weight "after this". You don't need to make up for it. Just dust yourself off and get…

Congrats on your commitment! Just remember that in the beginning you tend to lose more weight (water weight etc) due to the changes you are making. Depending on your goals and current stats, you can expect to lose 0.5-1lbs a week (unless you are really overweight, which you don't seem to be), so don't expect any miracles…

Here's the thing: If you are making your diet a permanent lifestyle, then going over your calories every now and then is no big deal at all. Just log it, acknowledge it, and move on. Consistency over a long period of time is key. If the general trend of your weight is down, then that's all that matters :)

That's how I feel sometimes when I devour chocolate or something :D

What you want to pay attention to is your TDEE. BMR is what your body needs to function every day, without exercise or anything. So basically just living. TDEE - 20% is what you can look at, and then tinker with that number. You may find you can even cut it by 25%, depending on how much you have/want to lose.
-
Have you calculated your BMR and TDEE? Here's a decent calculator that will tell you those numbers. There are others out there, but this one gives you a good idea. It's never 100% accurate, of course, but a good estimate is all you need to start, and then you can adjust: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator

I know you didn't feel good about it, but right now that sounds plain amazing to me :P I hope you at least enjoyed it (and then got back to watching your intake again).

LOL! :D

I add them to yogurt, together with flax and hemp seeds, but only for fiber and because I like all the different textures.

Are you saying you are trying to log your poop? :P

No worries :) And I never said that Nigerians are stupid. If I thought that, I would probably not work in the field of global health/international development. But it started as a joke from somebody to a friend, via messenger (we have screenshots at work, we actually traced the whole thing), and somebody picked it up ...…

Well, DUH, I know Ebola was not a hoax! I work in global health, my co-workers were in Nigeria and other countries at the time of the outbreak. If you had read the link, then you'd know that I was referring to the the salt water flush (treatment) somebody spread was a hoax (it started as a joke but quickly gained momentum,…

For some creepy reason, this reminds me of this: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/nigerian-ebola-hoax-results-deaths/story?id=25842191 No, thanks.

http://undergroundhealthreporter.com/detoxify-your-body-naturally/#axzz3aL9PRuzu Why do people feel the need to detox when healthy bodies do that all by themselves?

I think I found a pretty good endocrinologist. She put me on Synthroid, 88mg for now. Just started today, taking 44mg for three days and then going up to the full dose. I am kind of curious what, if anything, I will notice.
